Nasty Christmas stories with better endings….

This morning, I received THIS link from a friend so I’m adding it to my post below;  it’s about the Bush family and what they did for Christmas when in office.  The difference of why they stayed in town is striking.  Lots of good stuff. I hope you take a look at the link before reading my post below.

THIS is a Christmas story that starts out so badly and ends so encouragingly!  I thought you might want to read it….passengers DID applaud.  That’s good news, right?

Then there is THIS story that’s very troubling but it, too, has a nice ending.

I publish these because I believe that, while there are truly sad things being attempted against Christmas, it doesn’t seem to be the trend.  I hope that lasts a very long time.

It’s amazing to me that people get so offended by Christmas……..I have Jewish friends who tell me they love this season; the happy children, lovely music, beautiful lights, good food….  As a matter of fact, some of you listen to Dennis Prager and Michael Medved, both Jewish talk show hosts, two of the brightest on the radio, and they absolutely honor and love Christmas and rarely miss a chance to say so.

Do you know a Grinch who is of another faith and has a fit about Christmas?  What are your thoughts about this “War on Christmas?”

Not personally. And I tend to think it’s NOT people of faith, but people of anti-faith.

Look at what happened in my own town. We had lovely Christmas nativity displays in the public park on the cliffs overlooking the bay for ages. Each year churches entered a lottery to be selected for a limited number of slots to display a nativity on the edge of the park. It made a festive holiday ‘decoration’ that everyone could walk or drive by easily. It cost the city nothing. They spent their $$$ on their own, pagan decorations.

Recently a militant atheist group flooded the lottery with chits, so very few churches got slots. They just couldn’t stand that. The pagans own the town, and have no tolerance (an attribute of which they demand to be a generous recipient) or flexibility for the ‘feelings’ (those things they’re usually so worried about) or traditions of others. They raised a bigger stink, demanded it be stopped, and the city caved. (Well, they may have been part of it behind the scenes, knowing THIS town.)

You can put together incidents like this all across the country like, well, a war map. Guess what – that’s what we’re in.

And of course it’s broader than Christmas. That’s just such a convenient outlet for the vitriol. It’s a war on God, on the concept of a celestial authority. No surprise there. “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.”

    Ed, thanks for that!

Baysider, my “ex” church was a member of that approximately 20 Christmas scenes every year probably since it started, I was told it was on a “first come first serve” basis and the atheists ‘came first’ the last year or two and that was that… the whole display was canceled.
I’m glad you shared that, it’s a perfect example…………one group complains, and the whole lovely tradition of MANY years is DONE. Stopped.

  5. Baysider, I would think if it were put on a ballot for a vote, it would easily pass being as 86% of Americans believe in God. It always bugged me how vocal non-believers can be about Christmas. I mean, what is it about “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men” that they find offensive?

God is the author. A higher power to whom they are subject. Rebelliousness. That’s what.

And Ed, GREAT video. I’ve downloaded that into my permanent collection. 🙂

They don’t know what they’re missing.

  9. Baysider, The movie was good too.
