Admiral Lyons…..watch and weep…and please send around

Admiral Lyons answers a lot of interesting questions that we’ve all had…..why did we ignore the Beirut bombings on our soldiers?  Take a look… SO SAD.

What do you think?  Admiral Lyons asks “Who the hell GOT to him?”   I’ve been saying something’s keeping us from really attacking any muslims for a long time…this video’s tough to watch;  there were people who righteously wanted to speak out, DO something…but we did not.

WHY?

  1. Obama’s Middle East strategy is all about Zinn-ism. Obama is saturated with the “principles” of Howard Zinn. See A People’s History of the United States. I read the book last summer.

And it’s not only Obama who has been all about Zinn-ism.

I highly recommend that all who visit this thread read Zinn’s book. It’s important so as to understand what the hell is going on.

I may offend some of you with the rest of this comment. Oh, well. I have to say this….

It is my belief that almost all Americans today are infested with Zinn-ism to one extent or another. Don’t believe me? See THIS. Study it! How infested are you?

Boiling the frog, I tell you!

That’s a good question for past incidents. However, we need not ask it of the current Administration. HE “GOT to him”!

I do admire Admiral Lyons. The man is a true warrior, a distinguished naval officer, well educated, and engaged with national policy dialogue. He has earned our willingness to listen to what he has to say. Yet, his is not the only voice of reason. Weinberger too was a warrior; he fought in World War II as a U. S. Army captain. It was said by someone that the best way to describe Weinberger was as a man fighting for peace. There is room to disagree with the way Weinberger went about it, but I don’t think we should question his loyalty to his country —or suggest, “some one got to him.” Admiral Lyons is wrong when he says, about Iran that we could have walked right in. No, we could not have done that. I know this for a fact. We did not have the logistical resources to support the number of troops that it would have taken to invade Iran, or sustain them over a period of six months.

Mustang, I always have to bow to your military expertise and have to wonder about what you say about not having enough troops, etc., Why wouldn’t that have been explained to Lyons many times? Lyons is clearly regretful and angry and, in essence, implies we’d not be in this mess with islamofascists had we hit THEN. I strongly doubt that, it would have only delayed, perhaps….

    John, who’s your HE?

AOW….I wish you could find the time to, in a nutshell, explain what we’d have to look for to decide if we’ve been Zinn-ized…Shudder!

It is very confusing to try to figure out why governments are supporting and protecting the moslems. (I heard recently, John Fng Kerry actually commented “if Allah wIlls it” to some question somewhere.)
Anyway, I am usually confident in concluding such difficult questions have Money as the answer. I believe the moslems are paying lots of money for government support around the world. We should have gotten off of oil a long time ago but I guess this is all part of God’s Plan. I hope the last chapter gets rid of the moslems.

    “John, who’s your HE?”
B.O., himself, of course. By himself HE is a valuable asset to radical Muslim causes. I presume that this doesn’t require further explanation.

In 1987, the US was still recovering from Carter. All military services were drastically cut and we had neither the manpower nor the logistical technology to support a massive confrontation with Iran. Consider their climate; it would have required 15 gallons of water per day to sustain every one of 85,000 Marines. Why we were considering the employment of Marines was because the standing army was inadequately staffed to take on this assignment. Most of the Army’s logistical capability was taken out of the active force and placed in guard and reserve. Many of these logistical skills are perishable; over time, it becomes a lost art. Equipment wise, the Marines did not have the capacity for transporting that much fresh water over Iranian terrain or in their climate pattern. Moreover, the ability to make our own water is extremely limited. Lyons, as a naval officer, may not have understood this. He should have understood that land war is an Army mission, not a Marine Corps mission. We simply do not have the same kind of equipment as the Army does. Now, as a corollary to this, do you remember how long it took the U. S. Army to move its armored divisions from Fort Hood Texas to Saudi Arabia in 1991-1992? Inadequate logistics is a war stopper. These mistakes were still not corrected by 2003. Do you know how the Marines solved the water problem on their march to Baghdad? The put fuel bladders on flatbed vehicles and filled them with water. Vehicles configured in this way are a disaster waiting to happen. At best, it is a pig in a poke operation. Our troops deserve much better than this.

  8. His key remark was “Islam is a political movement, not a religion.” That says it all, doesn’t it?

    @ Mal

I agree with you. His remark does say it all. But of course, we cannot even confront Islam here at home and that too is a problem.

  10. Right, Mustang. God forbid we offend anyone! Political correctness is doing us in.

John, I’m sorry…I was quoting Lyons in his memories of back in the days of Reagan….he was asking who got to WEinberger, etc……..Today, of course Obama is a valuable asset…you’re right.

Mustang; thanks for that explanation….I think they needed YOU back then, Lyons certainly did, to explain logistics!

Kid, Kerry actually used the Arabic word “Inshala” (god willing)….oh, yes…IN ARABIC. what a putz. There IS no sensitivity to Americans in this admin, just sensitivity to the Arabs.

I”m listening to the incredible news that the Chinese, Russia and France all had the good sense and dignity to leave after the nuke deadline with Iran passed…but there’s John Kerry like a bad parent having told his kid “No” but continuing on letting the kid do what he wanted….Iran must be laughing themselves sick even as they said yesterday that Israel’s destruction is NON NEGOTIABLE: http://freebeacon.com/issues/bibi-blasts-iran-talks-after-iranian-general-says-israels-destruction-is-non-negotiable/

Mal and Mustang….no, PC has tied our hands here, too…….and Islam knows that. THAT is why it’ll take the muslims like Zuhdi Jasser and others who don’t support jihad to SPEAK OUT MORE…get muslims behind them……..let Muslims in America speak out against PC and maybe they need the reminder that they, too, will be killed if they’re not the brand of islam threatening the ‘group du jour”…

Mustang, Mr. B and I really appreciate your detail in explaining your answer. I’m always amazed when I find, e.g., Marines in Afghanistan! (Where, exactly, is the water through which they ‘stormed the beaches’? Or the ships in whose rigging they stand with their muskets? 🙂 )

AOW – Zinn is despicable, of course. But to not throw him on the ash heap of history along with his ideas – that’s even more so. I see I have to get this awful book out of the library and force myself to read it. I’ve heard Zinn – heard him say with my own ears that the world would be a better place if the United States had never existed. You have to ask WHAT’S WRONG WITH SUCH A LOONY? So blinded by whatever hatreds that he’d cut off his nose to spite his face?

Well, that explains a lot about the left today in the face of the Islamic threat.
