Fossil Fuels….why we should be grateful for them?

I highly suggest you send this to every student you know in America, from elementary school to university level!  IT JUST MAKES SUCH SENSE!

Thanks for the tip/video, Baysider;  this is good for us all to remember.  Too bad liberals can’t absorb it….

  2. You know, we call them “Fossil Fuels”, but it seems that when calculations were made for how many dinosaurs would have to die to give us oil, it was thought we’d have run out long ago.
It’s more reasonable to believe that these fuels are the product of creation.
However you believe this planet got to be here, it appears it came fully fueled.
We should call them “Natural Energy”.
    You know. All natural.

And why do these ‘forces’ want us to feel guilty. People who feel guilty will part with their money far more easily. That money is transferred to the pockets of greedy evil people who prey upon others in such ways instead of making their money by doing something productive. *See al gore. They are a far greater threat to mankind’s forward progress than anything environmental and should be thrown in jail or killed because of this. Make scamming the public with environmental scares just as much a crime as wire fraud or insider trading.

Really when you think about it, the craze to find ‘alternate fuels’ such as bio-fuels from corn that tripled the price of corn, resulted in people in poor countries dying because basic foods became too expensive. Anyone involved with this should be convicted of genocide and put away for life.

@Ed – Personally I don’t believe oil came/comes from decomposing organic material and to my knowledge no one has proven conclusively that it did. And oil wells once thought to be empty decades ago have refilled themselves to a certain degree,

If only our society were not filled with morons who consider themselves geniuses.

Wait a minute….I’m listening to the TV across the hall….Obama’s about to give a press conf. on our having killed Adam Gadahn and La Porto (sp?), an Italian held by Al Qaeda. And another American. I can’t help but wonder WHY? It’s sad it happened (except to Adam Gadahn, of course)… and it’s sad Obama’s gutted intel so that we couldn’t have known this information before droning them. BUT… it strikes me that this happened in January and he’s speaking now. Also, it strikes me that he’s so eager to condemn US when he doesn’t talk about really major situations of hideous and intentional deaths around the world caused by MUSLIMS. He can barely say the word MUSLIM in association to terror, but he’ll sure apologize for US when he’s done something like this; so eager to TELL THE WORLD AMERICA GOOFED UP. END OF RANT 🙂

AOW…it is terrific, isn’t it….I WISH it was required viewing in schools

Ed and Kid, that is fascinating…..the oil fields fill themselves UP? Yes, it sure doesn’t seem like there would have been enough dinosaurs to keep our planet in fuel forever!!??
Kid, it seems to me that if corn works as a fuel, we should try/do that. Why would we be stupid enough that the poor would suffer like that because of it? So you put away some and give it or sell it to them cheaply……and use the rest for oil as needed.
    What am I missing?

Z, corn based fuels (bio-fuels) have been proven to pollute more than gasoline. More pollution is created in creating the corn based fuel and it doesn’t produce as good gas mileage as gasoline does. In short it was a stupid liberal based idea – one of many on going stupid liberal ideas that won’t pan out 🙂
Why would a farmer sell corn for less than the going rate? What’s more why would a farmer grow soybean for $2 a bushel when he can grow and sell corn for 6? The result of that is the price of many crops went up in price. As an aside it’s more proof that screwing with this kind of stuff puts everything out of balance.

PS, I was mainly talking about poor people in countries that can’t grow their own food/corn so they have to buy it from someone else.

Kid, thanks….I sort of get it better now that you explained! I certainly get the parts about “out of balance” and the poor having to buy food/corn from elsewhere and that’s too expensive for them.

If anybody wants to weigh in on my Off Topic comment above about the droning of two innocent people, please do……….or 3? Anyway, would that Obama’d be this transparent on things that are PRO America…this just makes America look bad; VOILA, Obama! He waited 3 months to divulge this information (the drone hit happened in January, apparently) but he was on camera denouncing cops within 15 minutes of any time he saw THEY were wrong…

  10. And the BIGGEST reason to be grateful for fossil fuels, is that their existence allows the government to charge their users MORE for energy, and thereby subsidize all the Left’s feel good “clean” energy projects like Solar and Wind.

“Z, corn based fuels (bio-fuels) have been proven to pollute more than gasoline.”

Couple more things….it takes more energy to produce an equivalent gallon of ethanol than the same gallon of gasoline. It’s totally inefficient and if you get right down to it….it’s been responsible for huge increases in food of all kinds. Second…it’s a known fact that ethanol in gasoline destroys some small engines over time. Boats, lawn mowers, lawn trimmers, etc. And since it holds moisture more than gas…eventually it does harm to a standard auto engine.

    Clearly…it causes starvation too:

In 2000, over 90% of the U.S. corn crop went to feed people and livestock, many in undeveloped countries, with less than 5% used to produce ethanol. In 2013, however, 40% went to produce ethanol, 45% was used to feed livestock, and only 15% was used for food and beverage

The grain required to fill a 25-gallon gas tank with ethanol can feed one person for a year, so the amount of corn used to make that 13 billion gallons of ethanol will not feed the almost 500 million people it was feeding in 2000. This is the entire population of the Western Hemisphere outside of the United States.

And it’s a boondoggle for the corn growers…hence another government program run amok…as in all gov’t programs. Increasing CAFE standards like Japan has done to 40MPG….would eliminate the need for ethanol…..as well as it’s uselessness.

Doesn’t it erk you that E85 gas is so much lower than regular unleaded?
That your tax dollars are subsidizing that other guys car and the price of beef is going up because of it?

  15. Great video, Z. And bio fuel was and still is a bad idea for all the reasons given above. All the progress shown in this video was accomplished despite an explosive increase in world population, too, which is incredible when you think about it. Usually things get worse under those circumstances.

There’s an app out there called “Pure Gas”. It lists and locates all gas stations where you can get ethanol FREE fuel. And it’s usually around 87 to 90 octane. It surprised me how many were around that I didn’t know of. Of course this being FlaDuh….boaters would love it. It also will steer you right to one of those gas stations too. Pretty useful…and FREE too.

I told you they were really good…..next time try adding anything to them. My fav combo was pickles and onion slivers….gives it a bit of texture and crunch. McD’s is really trying hard to gain their customer base back. They’re really undergoing a massive revamping of the menu and advertising since last year was the first time they lost big money. Mrs. Imp does their PR in 3 counties down here so I get the scoop first hand. They do a hell of a lot for charity too and have training / management programs for underprivileged kids in the area. And has more minority owners than ever before. It’s good to see.

Kid, thank you for that link – a FASCINATING read. You see, 30 YEARS AGO I read that some thought oil may not be ‘made’ how we thought, or in static supply as we thought. Someone had documented new reserves coming in to a previously proven ‘dead’ zone and began to speculate on how we should re-think our understanding of petroleum, its creation and arrival in an oil field. I am amazed to read that the first evidence of this was 1984 – fits with my memory. But we have only heard about better methods to FIND oil, not oil finding us.

I live in northern Illinois, but not in Chicago. My home overlooks hundreds of acres of corn. And not the sweet kind; I’m talking about the money corn. Some call it field corn, and you can eat it if you absolutely have to, but this is the stuff that farmers around here are growing and selling it to processors who eventually turn it into ethanol. And I know a farmer who grows this stuff, and he is the biggest phony baloney hypocrite liberal jerk that ever graced a tractor. The guy sprays nasty chemicals all over his crops to keep the bugs and disease down, his diesel fuel costs to plow, plant, spray, harvest, store and transport his crops are in the 6-figures every year, and none of his vehicles get over 7 mpg, none of them. And he has perhaps 15 vehicles/tractors/combines of all sorts, he has arguably the biggest, hairiest carbon foot print of anybody I know. Noboby can tell me that this is the way to produce green energy. Common sense and just plain ol’ eyeballs watching all of this carbon usage tells anyone with a brain that this is crazy, just plain stupid.

He cashes his subsidy checks like clockwork, and recycles his aluminum cans, and has an Obama bumper sticker on his John Deere. This liberal jerk farmer is the biggest hypocrite east of the Mississipi River. (Nancy Pelosi is the biggest one west of the Mississippi, just so you know).

Oh, but Fredd, I’m sure he feels good for doing good, right? I saw the food price spikes right away after ethanol became the ‘law of the land’ – but the left, naturally, made the wrong conclusions. I’m glad several here have discussed how this affected food costs. It’s virtually criminal.

BTW, I learned that California had switched from the 5% blend to the 10% blend when I noticed my gas mileage had dropped and started to ask why.

The Environmental Working Group (hardly a right-wing bastion) reported that “the federal mandate – the central feature of the program known as the Renewable Fuel Standard (2005) – has allowed corn ethanol to saturate the marketplace. That’s made it more difficult for advanced biofuels, which emit fewer greenhouse gases and don’t compete with food needs, to gain a foothold. Moreover, corn ethanol is exempt from emissions reduction targets that advanced biofuels must meet.” Wow – didn’t know THAT! I think I smell a lobbyist.

2 years ago the California legislature at least spoke up – urging the feds to transition away form food-source biofuels.

NOBODY CARES! NOBODY DOES ANNNNYYYYTHING ABOUT ANY OF THE ‘SENATE HEARINGS’….AS YOU ALL KNOW, MY SADDEST ‘SAYING’ IS “IF YOU WANT A REALLY SERIOUS SITUATION TO JUST GO AWAY FOR THE LEFTWINGERS, JUST GET DARRYL ISSA TO DO A SENATE HEARING…VOILA!
