  1. Kid says:

    I’d take # 6 from the list. I’d call it the destruction of the education system with no turn around in sight. With educated people, solutions to everything else is possible.

  2. #6 Bad parents and dumbed down kids — because “You can’t fix stupid. Stupid is forever” (Ron White).

    Furthermore #6 exacerbates so many other threats.

  3. bunkerville says:

    #1 for me. They indeed to kill us. Dumb kids won’t be an issue.

  4. silverfiddle says:

    6, 5 and 4, in that order because:

    6. Stupid parents and kids dumbed-down by our teacher-syndicate-run government indoctrination centers known as schools lay the ground work.

    5. The hydra-headed media-pop culture monster acts as the Ministry of Truth, keeping mush-brains filled with sugar-stuffed propaganda

    4. Lying politicians of BOTH parties get away with murder thanks to the lack of critical analysis and pop culture smoke screen produced by #5 and #6.

    Every other ill grows out of that fertile pile of leftwing manure (except #12! 🙂

  5. John M. Berger says:

    I agree with everybody’s comments pertaining to #6 and have nothing else to add there. However, I will add a #13: The Demise Of Common Sense. I see that as manifest in #1 through #11

  6. YIKES! That is a fairly comprehensive list, Z, but only #12 leaves me rocking back and forth on the floor, curled in the fetal position and sobbing uncontrollably until I fall asleep sucking my thumb.

    After that, I’d go with #8. I believe it has been the abandonment from our Judeo-Christian roots and turning away from our Creator (with Roe V Wade as the crowning “achievement”) that marginalized importance of family and has led to this secular-progressive Big Govt utopia we are all now enjoying.

    And #3 on my list of threats would be global warming. jk, just checking to see if you made it this far 🙂

  7. geeez2014 says:

    Thanks, Jer!! i ALWAYS “make it this far” in your fun commentaries 🙂 Glad you noticed #12!
    And, while we run the risk of being slammed as “Michelle Bachmann”, I agree about GOD.
    I’m not so sure He’s going to come after us for what we’ve done to this country (tho I’m not convinced that might not be true?) but I AM CONVINCED the behavior of Americans since they’ve insulted and demeaned God in public, etc., and stopped being part of good, traditional-valued church/synagogue communities, has become SCUM. (you may quote me :))

    Kid and AOW; I just saw this paragraph by the teacher at Texas A&M Galveston, who gave an F to all 30 students and retired immediately:
    “Since teaching this course, I have caught and seen cheating, been told to ‘chill out,’ ‘get out of my space,’ ‘go back and teach,’ [been] called a ‘f–king moron’ to my face, [had] one student cheat by signing in for another, one student not showing up but claiming they did, listened to many hurtful and untrue rumors about myself and others, been caught between fights between students,” the 53-year-old wrote in the note to his class, shared Monday on KPRC. Announcing that he was dropping out of teaching the course and awarding each student a failing grade, he blasted: “None of you, in my opinion, given the behavior in this class, deserve to pass, or graduate to become an Aggie, as you do not in any way embody the honor that the university holds graduates should have within their personal character.”
    THIS is the type of idiot college kid we’re accepting? THIS kind of behavior in STUDENTS?
    And we wonder about our country? NO CIVILITY!
    Of course, the academics at A&M are shocked and putting more blame on HIM than the uncivil little brats they need to pay their teachers’ salaries.

    BUnkerville has a point; If we all die from terrorism, our kids are going too!

    Silverfiddle…”except #12’…that cracked me up! Thank you and I agree with ALL you said.
    unfortunately.

    John, “Demise of COmmon Sense” is a good one……..kind of applies to them ALL, doesn’t it?

  8. geeez2014 says:

    http://chatteringteeth.blogspot.com/

    I think you’ll all agree with Jerry’s latest post!
    And, by the way, I think you’ll all REALLY AGREE with SilverFiddle’s, too…..take a look at them both. Oh, what the heck…check out ALL the blogs above..
    We have SUCH good bloggers in our corner of the blogosphere!
    XXX

  9. fredd says:

    You left off your list the biggest threat to our country, by far: liberalism. Unopposed and unaccountable liberalism is the root cause for 6 or 7 items on your list, Z.

  10. -FJ says:

    If I could FIX one problem, it would be number 2. Because fixing it would fix half of the other items on your list, too.

  11. John M. Berger says:

    @Fredd,
    “You left off your list the biggest threat to our country, by far: liberalism.”
    Yes specifically but it can be included in # 10. Disease; mental disease, of course!

  12. Baysider says:

    8. Less Belief in God. From that stems all the others. Once you’re off kilter in 8, all others drift left and truth is no longer a virtue. (Notice I didn’t say practiced but not elevated.) A ‘proper’ belief, grounded in truth impels you to:
    1) know who you are and why and to have the framework in which to ‘celebrate’ the judeo-christian culture and dump the Islamists;
    2) Have the character, wisdom and ethic infused by Proverbs to work hard, not cheat, and take advantage of our freedom to build businesses, hire people and elevate the general welfare. Mid-century wall street men tell me that a man’s word was still his bond even then;
    3) attain the greatest state of brotherhood available to fallen men;
    4) meet lying politicians with the opprobrium and ignominy they deserve, not fawn all over them as ‘bad boys’;
    5) Fill the media with the same people who are doing #2 with more truth and balance;
    6) Raise children of character. See 2 above;
    7) face immorality with the same opprobrium you face bad pols. It will never go away. But the culture that celebrates it is in trouble. Some teachers think that was THE biggest sin of Sodom – accepting it.
    9) face the ups and downs of weather with trust in the Almighty’s provision and act as prudent stewards of HIS property;
    10) disease – see 9 above;
    11) dispel PC for the tripe it is, as a culture. See 2 above;
    12) Drives you to Z’s blog for a daily dose of sprightly conversation. But you will no longer need SANITY if 8 rules. Aah. One day.

  13. HOW ABOUT “ALL OF THE ABOVE?”!!!!!!!

  14. OOOO! EXCEPT THE LAST ONE, OF COURSE!

  15. geeez2014 says:

    fredd, LIBERALISM…yes. The thing is that’s hiding right between the lines on that whole list, right? Take a look at it and tell me how liberalism isn’t behind all the woes of each number up there (except my blog, of course…though when I was still no Blogger, that would have been included!)

    FJ…you think HALF the items could be a ‘fixed’ with a good economy?

    John..it IS a disease, right!

    Baysider, great list, too……..If we still had the belief in God (though polls show Americans do believe in God in quite high numbers, I’m not sure it’s GOD with a capital ‘g’!) and truly followed the Word, we’d be so much better off…kinder, helpful to neighbors and the poor, not promoting immorality, etc etc…heck even the media might think twice about obfuscating facts, knowing they’re doing a huge disservice to our country.
    As I’ve said, long before it became popular and bigwig writers/thinkers have started saying it, “We can’t truly have capitalism without GOODNESS (God)”….People will cheat others, be greedy beyond reasonable, and capitalism then gets rightfully called into question by secularists greedy to get RID of it for socialism, etc.

    Mal…Good correction! And yes, ALL.

  16. Well I read the list thinking “how was ‘Democrats’ left out?”, but the saw Fredd’s comment which is close enough.
    I guess that covers “Alienation from the Constitution” also.

  17. Baysider says:

    Well, Obama’s got the same, tired rhetoric I heard from LBJ when I was young. Education, crime, training. Obama’s take makes the crims passively un-responsible for their outcome. And US responsible for it instead. Like everything else, he’s got it totally backwards. What did you expect from a big state mentality?

    We don’t need to reform criminal justice. We need to re-form CRIMINALS. Starting with stopping the excuses for poor character and bad behavior. ALL the resources are there to take advantage of.

  18. -FJ says:

    Fix the economy 1st. In order to SOLVE a problem, one needs four things (as mentioned in the below phrase from Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”):

    Sure, he that made us with such large discourse,
    Looking before and after, gave us not
    That capability and god-like reason
    To fust in us unused. Now, whether it be
    Bestial oblivion, or some craven scruple
    Of thinking too precisely on the event,
    A thought which, quarter’d, hath but one part wisdom
    And ever three parts coward, I do not know
    Why yet I live to say ‘This thing’s to do;’
    Sith I have cause and will and strength and means
    To do’t.

    Fix the economy. Only then will you have the strength and means to fix (or at least attempt to fix) the others.

  19. Kid says:

    Bay, yes, this turned out just like the democrats planned it when they came up with LBJ’s Great Society – Welfare, WIC, etc.. The democrats keep it going decade after decade. Jimmy Carter added the destruction of the education system by making it federal.
    Finally, the blacks that live like this in these zero opportunity environments don’t Want to have to integrate into American society. They’re having too much fun smokin weed, breedin democrats, and looting when the crib needs an upgrade.

  20. Kid says:

    FJ, I agree with Aristotle – One of education’s primary missions for Aristotle, perhaps its most important, was to produce good and virtuous citizens for the polis. All who have meditated on the art of governing mankind have been convinced that the fate of empires depends on the education of youth.

  21. geeez2014 says:

    Ed, I don’t see how we can see that list and not think DEMOCRATS!

    FJ…..I see the point…..CAN we fix it? There are Black Conservatives saying things (I even heard some today) on TV like “I finally woke up to what was causing the problems and it’s Democrats”…..where ARE THEY? They need to get on TELEVISION and TALK.
    And we need to hold the media responsible for getting their word out there, except the media will misconstrue and twist the meanings, of course.

    Baysider; Hillary thinks it’s Christianity and social injustice (surprise!)….But, as I wrote to Mustang in an email: What’s going to get HIllary more votes?…saying that BLACKS NEED TO TAKE CONTROL OF THEIR LIVES, GET THEIR KIDS TO DO BETTER, WORK HARD, GO TO SCHOOL….or…….BLACKS NEED TO COME TO MY OFFICE AND I’LL GIVE YOU AN EVEN BETTER CELL PHONE THAN THE OBAMA PHONE….I FEEL YOUR PAIN ……??

    Kid, I’m not sure a LOT of them want to, either…It’s TOO HARD to be a mature adult.
    And that is QUITE a quote there by Aristotle. And EDUCATION is the last thing Democrats seem to want for our Black population, considering how hard they lobby against vouchers, etc.

    ALL: Every time I see BLACK LIVES MATTERS signs, I wonder why they don’t matter when Blacks are snuffing out Black lives. (that’s a rhetorical questions, of course),, Who could not think of that when we read them?

  22. -FJ says:

    I think that if there were the prospects of good employment, a “reward” for virtue, the kids in schools around the country would do everything in their powers to get good grades and get ahead. But when you graduate from HS to a flat economy where you are fast-tracked onto government assistance, what’s the point?

    Yes, Z, I think that the economy CAN be fixed. But we need to get away from the excesses of global corporate capitalism to do it. We need to make it so that every citizen has a chance to contribute. And they can’t contribute if billionaires can undercut their labour and employments with products fabricated in 3rd world country’s with 3rd world labour.

  23. geeez2014 says:

    http://www.salon.com/2015/04/29/america_is_not_a_christian_nation_the_dark_capitalist_roots_of_our_countrys_most_destructive_myth_partner/

    I don’t read SALON but I do like to stay up on all that’s ‘in the ether’ around us and the title caught my eye so I read and post here the article….This is what’s going on more than we think (and affecting our kids) and it coincides with our discussion here on the importance to our nation of Godliness…..
    Notice, there’s big emphasis put on disgust with the term CHRISTIAN NATION but their suggesting it’s been a NATION OF CHRISTIANS is okay(ish)……. Semantics are very important to the left…it helps them slam their enemies.
    What AMerica does have, apparently, is “dark Capitalist roots!” 🙂

  24. geeez2014 says:

    FJ, I agree with most of what you said but I don’t think our kids are lazy and ignorant because they know they can’t get a job. This doesn’t even make an impression on middle school aged kids…and even our high school kids are clueless.
    They are just not encouraged anymore AT HOME.. Particularly in areas like West Baltimore, they don’t see their parents working hard in good paying jobs (which does back your hypothesis), they don’t want to do much but chew the fat. Or they THINK that’s what they want to do. I believe it’s this laziness and lack of DOING SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE that drives them to drugs and booze ……hide their natural, God given inclinations to WORK at something they LOVE with getting high.

    ya think?

  25. -FJ says:

    @ Kid,

    So I agree with Aristophanes that we need to get away from attempts to “cure” the blindness of Plutus. Redistribution of wealth is not the solution, the redistribution of opportunity onto a level playing field accessible by ALL, IS.

  26. -FJ says:

    They are just not encouraged anymore AT HOME..

    How many in West Baltimore have fathers in the home? So, “who” is there to encourage them? Single mothers are single for primarily one reason… THEY have more free time AND can control more money from social assistance for doing nothing than they can sharing their work income with an also working husband.

    Well, IF the economy were booming, wages would be rising rapidly for mothers and fathers. Marriage, might once more prove the “better option”.

  27. cube says:

    All of the above, but especially #12 😉

    Just kidding. I would pick them all but #12. We’re being hit on so many fronts, it’s hard to keep up.

  28. -FJ says:

    …and so I disagree with the premise that they are “just lazy”. The carrot at the end of the stick, IMO, simply isn’t “big enough”.

  29. John M. Berger says:

    @Kid,

    “the blacks that live like this in these zero opportunity environments don’t Want to have to integrate into American society.”

    After generations of immersion into the, so called, Great Society (GS) how can [they] have any conception of what [we] consider “American society”? Baltimore is yet one more ‘petri- dish’ example of the Democrat interference with America, as it was intended to be. Even if all vestiges of the GS were to be wiped clean, how long would it take, if ever, to rectify this disaster?

    2Kid,

  30. -FJ says:

    To “do something productive” requires an opportunity. But in a commercial “desert” like Baltimore, the only “lucrative employment” is crime.

  31. -FJ says:

    If they were just “lazy”, nothing would explain the willingness to hustle drugs and commit crime.

  32. Kid says:

    @FJ, I’m proposing that we got to where we are through the destruction of education. NOt just the 3 R’s but that shich builds character also. I have friends who quit teaching 30 years ago because the environment was so bad – not conducive to success – back then.
    College kids who don’t know about the Civil War. White ones. I saw an article today saying the youngest couple generations suck at history and other basic subjects. Stupid kids aren’t going to get hired into good jobs even if they were available.

  33. Kid says:

    PS – I guess we’ve always had working age people who aren’t the brightest. Those people worked in manufacturing and of course, clinton sent all those jobs mainly to China.

  34. geeez2014 says:

    FJ…I see your point, but I think there are so few actually hustling and so many just using, that that entrepreneurial spirit is limited to a few.
    They are lazy, but as I said above, that’s not a natural state, in my opinion, but I believe our gov’t has created an entitlement-minded society in our kids which expects to live well undeservedly. I hope you’re right and I’m wrong.

    Kid, our kids are mostly REALLY not educated. You’re right. And good teachers I know have left the business, too. It’s horrible.

    cube, it IS hard to keep up…and so sad.

    John…living in poverty and ruin is ALL THESE KIDS KNOW. Then they watch their flat screen TVs and see the rest of us living it up…as if someone’s handed it to us?

    I’m watching coverage from time to time in Baltimore and those kids who have NO MONEY are covered with expensive tattoos…their mothers have bleached hair and fake nails $$$.
    One wonders

  35. geeez2014 says:

    Kid, THAT’s IT. I’d like to see some big manufacturer where people work with their hands move into a big city and see what happens.
    Do the kids WANT the jobs?
    Can they grasp the work that needs to be done?
    Does the salary allow them to stay out of poverty?

    Sadly, a big question would probably be “Can I work here and not let the gov’t know so my checks stop:?”

  36. Of course, not everybody believes in my Imaginary Friend. But such a belief tends toward integrity in it’s adherents.
    Less tendency towards or sufferance of corruption.
    This leads to a more robust economy.
    Less crime.

  37. Z, our poverty is the envy of other nation’s poverty.

  38. -FJ says:

    If the” destruction of Education” means dumping the teachers Unions and Federal Dept. of Ed, I’m with ya ALL the way! 🙂

  39. John M. Berger says:

    @Kid,
    How right you are! Gone are the days when ‘drop-outs’ could get labor intensive union jobs @ inflated remuneration and now that the, so called, ‘jobs that Americans won’t do’ are being filled by illegals, @ very low wages; what would a lot of these people do even if they wanted to work?

  40. Kid says:

    @JMB, “Even if all vestiges of the GS were to be wiped clean, how long would it take, if ever, to rectify this disaster?”

    I don’t see how GS could ever be wiped clean. Who’s going to sterilize the breeders or shut their money off.. I think it’s time for America to restart itself by having the 26 states who are primarily conservative secede and start anew. Assistance only to people with actual physical/mental disability. The losers will move to one of the blue states. Strict adherence to the Constitution. Local schools, teachers able to discipline, fired for non-performance. No PC, No multi-culturalism – moslems will be told their religion is diametrically opposed to the constitution so get out. Strict rules for immigrants. No special privileges for any group of healthy individuals. Don’t like your life? Suck it up. Imports only for companies with healthy human rights/salary environments. Lots to add of course. I’m sure you could add some 🙂

    Ok, somebody pinch me.

  41. Kid says:

    If the” destruction of Education” means dumping the teachers Unions and Federal Dept. of Ed, I’m with ya ALL the way!” May I say – Hell Yea, that is step one.

  42. Kid says:

    FJ, btw, I don’t see them as lazy. Briefly, I see them as totally unequipped to join regular society, and I think many of them realize it too at least subconciously which adds to their violent nature. They’re effectively in cages with no where to turn. They just need to direct their anger at the right targets, as people like Malcom X tried to get them to do decades ago. He sure had the democrats pegged, and the repubs for that matter.,

  43. geeez2014 says:

    Ed, as we say here at geeez, that’s the only way to get out of this mess…you are so right. It’s heartening to see the Black pastors speaking out against the violence, even if SOME OF THEM (not all) do support the protest. And yes, our poverty is not the poverty we see in other countries, that’s for sure. Odd, though, you don’t see homeless in Europe as much. Not by a VERY long shot. Maybe never have I seen it in Paris or Munich or Hamburg, etc.\

    Kid, What “right targets” do you believe Malcom X wanted to redirect the anger toward?

    YES on getting rid of the Dept of Education…but I’d start with the unions, first.

  44. Kid says:

    Z, Malcolm X. Answer: The democrat party.

  45. Imp says:

    @Kid..”Who’s going to sterilize the breeders or shut their money off.. I think it’s time for America to restart itself by having the 26 states who are primarily conservative secede and start anew.”

    Man I like that one…cause in reality we’re not going to fix what’s so broken and opposed to our values.
    This is the reason we had a revolution in the first place. To be rid of a government that wasn’t representative, didn’t share our religious values, independence from a brutal monarchy and to forge our own destiny. Those 24 states, especially in the NE have fallen from those ideals. Why have them as partners when we’re better off alone?

  46. -FJ says:

    @Kid – No disagreements here.

  47. geeez2014 says:

    Kid, Malcolm X was angry at Dems?

  48. Kid says:

    Z, Malcolm knew how evil and racist the democrats were/are.

  49. geeez2014 says:

    Kid, thanks. He was definitely a black nationalist but he had some good, sound thoughts, too. I wonder how we could have been changed had he survived past 39 yrs old. He was pretty anti what Republicans hold dear, too. He hated capitalism, but he finally hated the Nation of Islam, too (and they assassinated him)…

  50. In Malcolm’s day, blacks were Repubs, and knew Dems were racist pigs and oppressors.

  51. geeez2014 says:

    Ed, so what happened? I thought LBJ didn’t want the Civil Rights Act passed but Wiki’s account glows about how he wanted it past ‘in memory of JFK’…??
    Was it LBJ who turned Blacks toward the Left, or welfare, or …what?

  52. Silverlady says:

    ALL of the above, except 9 & 12 (your blog). The climate always changes, so get over it! I would like a nominate Bampot for a special spot. #13, how apropos.

  53. Kid says:

    Z, Civil Rights Act. Wiki is propaganda on this issue for sure. The democrats tried to scuttle the bill and the repubs pulled it out of the trash can so to speak, forcing LBJ to sign it after passing it with more repubs voting for it than dems. (When I read this a year or more ago, it was 68% repubs to 42% dems voting yay. Someone has upped the dem number since but it’s still lower than repubs)
    LBJ had to sign it and somewhere along the way it was all folded into a great society thing and he said at the time “This will have those n——— voting democrat for the next 50 years. Right about that. What turned blacks to the left/dems? Don’t know – better marketing ?
    Next time you’re bored, google Black Wall Street. There are varying accounts, but there was a town full of rich back folks, everyone doing very well, very capitalist. One account says the US (dems) actually bombed the town. But it’s an interesting read.

  54. Mustang says:
    LBJ wanted the Voting Rights Act and Civil Rights Act, and the so-called GREAT society because he knew it would guarantee majority blacks voting democratic for a hundred years. He was right about that. It is true that the Republicans were in favor of Civil Rights and Voting Rights acts, and that Democrats in both houses opposed them … but LBJ had a conversation with Katherine Graham of the Washington Post and convinced her to help him get black mail material on the Democratic holdouts. She did, and the bills passed into law. LBJ wasn’t just a snake … he was a viper.

    As for your list, you could easily roll 9 of those threats into one labeled “Progressive.”

  55. Imp says:

    #14? Rising oil and gas prices…we’re getting hosed again…especially on the West Coast.

  56. Imp says:

    GDP…a lousy 0.2% ? Great job Ovomit.

  57. Kid says:

    IMP, you know 0.2 GDP is wonderful. You must be a racisssss

  58. Imp says:

    @Kid……ummmmmmmmmm….whatever.

  59. geeez2014 says:

    Thanks for the LBJ information.
    Kid, I THOUGHT he was against it and most Dems were….interesting to know even that’s stymied by leftwingers…
    Did you read AOW’s comment that she’d seen an article about Freddie Gray having bad bones and anything would break them, but it was GONE when she went to check it again? GONE.

    Mustang…We all agree with you (above in comments)..most of these are squarely problems caused by PROGRESSIVES.

    I’m SO SO hoping that the rising number of black conservatives gets LOUDER…..there’s Star Parker, Kevin Jackson, Jesse Petersen, David Webb, Juan Williams’ son, more and more names I don’t know…..and more ‘regular Blacks,’ too.
    They have to SPEAK OUT!
    Star Parker told me that the pastors she works with now tell her they didn’t realize they were Republicans until she and they’d spoken….she said it never fails. We have to get Black America back to where it was…respecting their families, real faith in God/Jesus, hard working, patriotic.
    So many good stories and all we hear is the @Q#(*$*#(&$.

    BY THE WAY: Completely off topic….Did you hear Dana Perino speak about working for Bush? I LOVE when she says “I was nervous I’d say the wrong thing and embarrass President Bush or make him think less of me..” What respect, what dignity that young woman has. That really moves me; and it says a LOT about him.

  60. Kid says:

    IMP, BTW – Thanks for the secession idea. 😉

  61. Imp says:

    Kid…whadda frens 4?

  62. Kid says:

    IMP, thas whadumsayin

  63. Z,
    About that scrubbed information I mentioned:
    Beginning of Freddie Gray’s life as sad as its end, court case shows
    . Check out Freddie Gray’s lead levels in 1996!

    Wikipedia omits the above information, which was there earlier (over the weekend, I think).

  64. geeez2014 says:

    AOW, I did some research just now into lead and bone strength, etc., and high levels of lead do lead to bone marrow problems, which can lead to cancer; I have yet to find if it weakens the bones enough that they can break easier, etc., …

    His life WAS very sad….and he has a terribly long rap sheet…the kid had no chance. Another victim of a screwed up childhood and no good, solid advice of how to live a good life.

  65. Imp says:

    WAPO is reporting that ole Freddie inflicted his injuries on himself….wha Oh…Seems he won a lawsuit and was trying to make a case for another while he was in back of the PD van and was banging himself against the wall.

    Wapo.com

  66. geeez2014 says:

    Imp; Yes, apparently the other prisoner saw Gray throwing himself against the van walls enough to hurt himself…Not sure if anybody will believe that eye witness, but……………

    Thank GOODNESS that ridiculous idea of releasing the medical information this week is now NOT happening..I cringed when I heard they were going to let that out THIS week when the crowds are crazed.

    Minneapolis and New York are getting hit hard by rioters. 1,500 in NYC alone….many arrests.

    These aren’t Americans wanting things to go well and be ‘one’….these are truly THUGS (a term the mayor is now apologizing for….spineless wimp that she IS)

  67. Ed, you know who killed Malcolm “X”, don’t you? Mother “F”!

  68. Jean Worland says:

    SATAN
