Obama corrects Jesus?

obama creep“It’s important for us to guard against cynicism and not buy the idea that the poor will always be with us and there’s nothing we can do,” Obama said.

He adds that “One of the things I’m always concerned about is cynicism,” Obama said. “My chief of staff, Denis McDonough, we take walks around the South Lawn, usually when the weather is good. And a lot of it is policy talk, sometimes it’s just talk about values. And one of our favorite sayings is our job is to guard against cynicism, particularly in this town. And I think it’s important for us to guard against cynicism and not buy the idea that the poor will always be with us and there’s nothing we can do, because there’s a lot we can do. The question is, do we have the political will, the communal will to do something about it.”

He says FOX says that…“the poor are sponges, leeches, don’t want to work, lazy….or undeserving”  He goes on…. “If you watch FOX News on a regular basis     (Z: how does he know?), it is a constant menu they will find of folks ‘who make ME mad… who say ‘I don’t want to work, I just want a free Obama phone!’ and that becomes an entire narrative!”    He apparently feels that the entire narrative of FOX is mocking the poor because they have the nerve to feature people like that to make their points.

He goes on to say “We’re going to have to change how the media reports and how peoples’ impressions of what it’s like to struggle looks like.”   What?   “CHANGE HOW THE MEDIA REPORTS?”  You mean just FOX, right, Obama?  Are you going to sign an Executive Order about this?  And, by the way, OBAMA, who doesn’t know what struggling looks like?

And are you going to change media before or after you change Jesus’ words of “You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”  John 12:8.     Is Obama going to be the new Thomas Jefferson and change Scripture?

Obama suggests Jesus is ‘cynical’ and we shouldn’t ‘buy the idea that poor will always be with us’.   He adds we need to do something for the poor.   Who doesn’t feel that way?  Anybody?  Oh, maybe FOX, according to Obama?

hillary what do i care

By the way, Hillary also wants to change religion, too!  She recently said “Deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed to provide reproductive health care for all women”   I guess she’s going to change the Bible to justify abortion, too.  Exodus will be the first chapter, she’ll expunge “Thou shalt not kill.” Exodus 20:13 (KJV)   And, by the way, who doesn’t want to provide reproductive health care to all women?

Democrats want to change THE SCRIPTURES? CHANGE HOW THE MEDIA REPORTS?

What ‘values’ is Obama talking about on his walks?   He calls changing Scripture or lying about news venues which criticize him, or calling us all racists who hate the poor good values?

PS: the only way there will never be any poor is when we are all poor.  Sadly.  That’s just realistic. That’s Socialism.  I wish he understood ‘realistic.’

We Will always have poor because they redefined poverty so that a poverty income is a percentage of the income level considered middle class. Therefore if middle class becomes a million a year, a poverty level income might be say 350k a year.

Plus we will always have poor because the democrats pay to have poor people breed more poor people.

We will always have poor because we will always have stupid lazy people. Always have, always will.

And hilrod clinton needs to go Polar Bear hunting with a nerf gun.

  3. Good idea, Kid. In fact, how about sending her to Alaska to go Moose hunting with Sarah Palin? Hillary might get shot for looking like a Moose! I like that idea!

First, who is this ‘we’ that has to ‘change’ how the media reports and how ‘peoples’ impressions’ of what it’s like to struggle looks like”? Second, just how do they intend to carry out this ‘changes’? Frankly, this kind of talk creeps me out.

Well, leftwing progs have already proven they think they can change reality and immutable human nature, so applying a little cut and past to The Bible comes as no surprise.

He worries about cynicism. Really? With his attitudes (and his wife’s). Maybe they should look in the mirror first before making such an embarrassing comment.

And Hil on ‘cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases’ – that’s just plain codespeak for ‘religion’, period. You can leave the rest of the gobbledegook out.

In one sense, Obama is right about poverty. Although he doesn’t know it. There is such fluidity in social/economic mobility in our country that only a teeny percent of the ‘poor’ stay that way and pass it on. I wish I had the stats at hand to quote what I’ve read precisely. It’s something like within 2 generations only 20% of those at the bottom will still be there. AND only 20% of those at the top (Rockefellers and a tiny few like that excepted) will still be there. The numbers are the same for migrating out of both top and bottom. Like the old saying goes, shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in 3 generations.

All his policy talk in the world won’t do one whit to help that – not the way he’s talkin’. But, that’s Mr. Perseveration for you (thank you AOW) – he keeps at it, and never seems to be able to find home plate. No wonder he can’t score any runs!

    Baysider…good point about cynicism.
I’d have to see the stats on poverty; I don’t see only a “teeny percent” staying poor. I wish I did.

SF…no surprise they’d try to play with Scripture; only surprise that anybody’d hear them and not COMMENT. WHY do I STILL think the media will be HONEST and CURIOUS and really report to Americans? WHY am I so naive!? 🙂 (rhetorical question, don’t anybody answer that :-))

    great comments, all.

The same is purported to be true in India, in Bombay. Same NUMBER of poor, but high turnover as the poorest move up, and new ones arrive from the country to replace them. Yes, the Indians actually did a survey I read about 3 years ago. They KNEW who they were counting.

A key problem with the poor here, is the government incentivizes people to STAY POOR, so that discourages turnover.

I know one who left that cycle – a tenant of mine. She was a Section 8 (federal $$$ assistance) tenant of ours with 2 kids and a dangerous ex who did not know where she lived nor was available for child support of one of the kids. So there was ONE father (distant) in the picture, and she struggled for a few years. We helped her out a bit, but she pushed herself to move from a restaurant job to artist (paid), and one year told us she did not want to renew her Section 8 contract BECAUSE SHE WAS GOING OFF ASSISTANCE as she was doing much better. Hooray! It does happen.

Domestic statistics have shown that a large majority of people in the U.S. are at the official ‘poverty level’ at some point in their lives (I’ve been there twice) but usually for not longer than 18-24 months. So – SAME STORY as India – the number is about the same, but the turnover rate shows most of them are replaced with others who are in temporary poverty. Only about 5% of the ‘poor’ are the same people year after year.

These stats are about 20 years old. I do wonder if that is changing, ref. para 2 above. The gov’t is thrusting dependence on us, al la the Julia ad of 2008.

Well, Baysider, I’m glad people are ‘moving’ on up’! I’d find that even more unbelievable in India….so it sounds like they just trade places…..is the middle class actually growing in INDIA?

Star Parker is one of those who really got herself off the (deep) ground….BIG TIME. Nice to hear about your tenant’s success. They exist, but you’re right……we practically cajole people into staying poor and on the couch watching TV on their big screen and talking on their Obamaphone..
Did you hear how he mocked FOX for suggesting people actually might like their free phones and how FOX thinks the poor are all “leeches”

Yes, the Indian middle class IS growing. Not like American-type attitudes, meaning there’s a question of how much of a stable footing they have as India’s culture, early socialist footing and colonial experience tend to focus their vision through the lens of more government involvement. Plus, some of that is perception, as more perceive themselves as being middle class – income, more than caste. My Indian colleagues came here for opportunity, but say younger ones see more at home than they used to.

    From John 12
3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,
5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.
8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

Who does Judas reminds me of? Yes, the PINO (president in name only).
