This just in:  “In a dramatic vote, Obama’s own Democrats, as well as Republicans, failed to produce enough support to approve a bill that would have given aid to workers who lose their jobs as a result of U.S. trade deals with other countries.”

gone crazy

Oh, wait. It has. But Obama still thinks we’d have to pay for workers who lost jobs because of US.

Anybody want to talk about how many jobs WE HAVE LOSE every time we buy something with MADE IN CHINA or MADE IN TAIWAN or MADE IN INDIA on it? (which is 99% of the time).  WHO IS GOING TO PAY US?

  1. Kid says:

You got it Z. My “What the Hell-O-Meter” has been pegged for quite a while now.

  2. Well, on the positive side, a whole bunch from the left helped shoot it down, too. Maybe there is some hope after all!

  3. Mustang says:

If this bill passes in its current form, it will change the process for congressional trade authority. After the president negotiates an international agreement, under this bill, then Congress would only be able to vote YES or NO … and no ability to amend or filibuster a trade deal. My question is why would any Republican support this? And of course, Japan is urging the bill to go forward next week. My next question, who cares what Japan thinks?

  4. Kid says:

Actually, this is just like the climate change scam in that it would give parasitic socialist countries a means to stick a straw in the USA and start sucking money out.

  5. geeez2014 says:

    You’re all SO RIGHT.

ANY way the world can stick it to us, the better, for Obama. Let’s face it, what’s this guy got in his past (or actions) that would make him LOVE THIS COUNTRY like we do? NADA.

  6. geeez2014 says:

I am SO STUNNED. He wanted to STIMULATE THE POOR who lost jobs because of US?
What about OUR POOR? Does ANY charity begin at home? Maybe not, if you hate home?

  7. geeez2014 says:

Mal, yes, that tiny ray of hope did register with me!
but Mustang’s right…there’s more; and it pretty much gives Obama all the power.

  8. Have you noticed how much slower time is elapsing during Obama’s second term? Bad things are happening faster than ever before. How in the world can we wait till Jan. 2017? I’m afraid its already too late. But hey! don’t even consider impeachment, folks! That wouldn’t be PC.

  9. Baysider says:

Drudge headlines “Pelosi Says No to Obamatrade; Takes Brave Stand for America”

Brave Stand?? Where was THAT when both of these donkeys pushed Obamacare which they knew would cause millions to lose health insurance or pay twice the price for worse policies?

Z, it makes me think of your comment about feeling like a bug on the kitchen floor the cat is playing with.

  10. The Trade Adjustment Act Is from a long time ago.
You have to prove you lost your job to overseas competition.
I tried to take advantage of it once, but it’s pretty hard to prove.
The point was to give you training for a better job than the one the scum bags negotiated to Mexico.
If you already were trained, it did nothing for you.
Why would we throw protection in for something that should never have been traded away?
Then we let overseas aliens come to this country and displace us.
“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security”

  11. Baysider says:

Most job training programs are boondoggles. I knew a woman once who signed on to one just to extend her unemployment payments. She said that’s what most on the program were doing, and she was certainly learning nothing.

Ed, great quote. Has a familiar ring to it. 🙂

  12. geeez2014 says:

Ed, the most important point of ALL of this is it “should never have been traded away”, as you said. “displace us” (getting welfare, heatlhcare, etc.) and then ask us to pay for their family back home who lost jobs because of us. You can’t make this up.

Baysider…some ‘brave stand’….she’s screwed everything else up and finally gets something half right and that’s a ‘brave stand’ . Well, I suppose with the way people are fired who don’t agree with THE ONE, maybe it IS a brave stand. Let’s see what happens to HER!

    Mal….it feels like forever…….

  13. alec says:

Z, truly this beggars belief, but then again, not.
Recently I was in what once was a major manufacturing city in the North East – maybe one of the biggest anywhere for brass manufacturing. The people of the former Soviet Union in its worst Stalinist days look happier, healthier and more alive than what was going on in Watertown, CT. All those jobs were stolen from America. And they could come back – but who is brave enough to do what is necessary?

  14. geeez2014 says:

alec, you mean Waterbury, not Watertown, CT, right?
How did you manage to get your screen name to link to that article and not your latest? I’m so confused! That Waterbury CT article is WELL worth reading…very well done.

VERY VERY sad. WHo is brave enough, indeed?

  15. alec says:

Yes, you are right, my fingers typed faster than my brain, or vice versa, Waterbury, CT.

When adding a comment, there is a line for URL. I entered it there. Glad you found the article interesting. It was one of the more disturbing things I’ve seen in the modern USA. Almost as bad as seeing the soldiers letting an attack K-9 “hand around” off a leash in Grand Central Station last year…terrifying.

  16. alec says:

Oh boy, I better get something to eat. That should have read: “hang around” off a leash. Apologies.

  17. geeez2014 says:

alec…just wanted to point that out 🙂 I know Watertown is in Mass.

What’s “hand around” off a leash mean?

You’ll get less comments on Moderation. You should be read 🙂

  18. fredd says:

My immediate reaction to some of the provisions in this bill did not sound good at all, such as providing aid to displaced workers – never a good idea under any circumstances. BUT: Nancy Pelosi doesn’t like it, and I don’t agree with anything that Red Nancy says, said or is going to say, nor anything Red Nancy does, did or wants to do.

I have to look at this bill a little closer, now that Red Nancy has voted no. Gotta be something good about it, if that raging commie pinko doesn’t like it.

  19. geeez2014 says:

fredd; that is a GREAT POINT 🙂 Definitely need to look again!

  20. geeez2014 says:

fredd: PLUS the face on that woman walking with Obama after the defeat is unbelievable; haggard, drawn, …. he must have given her HELL.

  21. Baysider says:

@ fredd: Pelosi said she is ‘sadly’ voting against it to win the broader fight. Labor is definitely against it. I don’t care about her – I’m with Mustang.

  22. geeez2014 says:

Baysider, I loved fredd’s tongue in cheek….if SHE isn’t gung-ho for the latest liberal lunacy, maybe we do have to take another look at this revolting bill that, thankfully, got shot down. Sadly, there’s more and that’ll be VERY bad, too 😦

  23. woodsterman says:

Trade? Oh, you mean our workers for theirs?
