Gray-Haired BRIGADE?

I received this in an email and thought it was fun and even important……..I often think the Progressives (Soros & Co and others) started their main push (via Obama, Pelosi, Holder, Reid) 20 years too early because there WE still are…we might be graying but we are NOT OLD and we ARE VOTING!…..take a look and tell me what you think:

“The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday.

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are “Baby Boomers” getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together.

gray hereditary

Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don’t know what an
icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and outdated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam. We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn’t fight for the Socialist States of America ; we
fought for the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.” We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America, and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the “Hope and Change” which In reality was nothing but “Hype and Lies.”

You youngsters have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don’t like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or “Climbing the Social Ladder” to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the “Great Lie” in 2008 are now having buyer’s remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the ‘Kool-Aid.’  Now you’re paying the price and complaining about it.  No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.

wisdom highlights

This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don’t worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2016 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we’re going, and in 2016 we’re going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Eric Holder.  It belongs to “We the People” and “We the People” plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren.  So the next time you have the chance to say the
Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the “Gray-Haired Brigade.”

Footnote:  This is spot on.  I am another Gray-Haired Geezer signing on.  I will circulate this to other Gray-Haired Geezers all over this once great county.

Can you feel the ground shaking? It’s not an earthquake, it is a STAMPEDE.” (end of article)

So…..What do you think?  We need to send this to all the young people in our lives…family members, etc.!  DO IT!  We have a country to save!

Think it’s too late, or can the Gray Haired Brigade DO IT?   (Even if we do use color :-))

According to the ex-girlfriend of one of my older grandsons, that’s the standard lament of the “19-forgotten” crowd of “hokey old fogies whose memories can find only the good stuff and not remember the bad times.”

Whoever wrote it, tho, has clearly been strolling around in my shoes through the passageways and closets of my experiential archives. That particular grandson is very tech savvy and all that, but prefers being outdoors to prime-time couch and loves to pick up knowledge in mechanics and carpentry and other hands-on skills that are becoming tedious and old-timey to many of his generation.

Another grandson, now 23 with the MS in computer science (what else?) says we can’t ever go back, so why talk about the past? And my only granddaughter (14) has an i-phone permanently attached to her left hand, pleasant and respectful enough, but undeniably a modern millie who says the “old days” might have been o.k. for me and her grandmother, but she wouldn’t want to go back there.

Me? I’d LOVE a do-over. Same little midwest town, same schools, same careers, same wife. Only changes I’d make would be to never take up smoking, practice better dental hygiene, and lay off the processed sugars and saturated fats. I’m at a total loss for explaining how I’ve survived this long given my recklessness and self-indulgence, but I’m gonna slide into home plate scuffed up, outta gas, proud, and smiling, ready to stand before the Judge and take responsibility for all of it.

  2. Perhaps those who now denigrate the wisdom of the gray-haired brigade will come to their senses when the wreck of an economy robs them of their iPhones and other devices or when they don’t have but $2.00 of disposable income every week after they have paid all the taxes needed to keep the entitled in the style to which the entitled have been accustomed.

Something will go along as long as it can — until it can’t anymore. We may be closer to “can’t” than we think. Look what happened in the markets yesterday. If that trend continues, it will trickle down.

Our wreckovery will become a multi-vehicle pile up.

  3. AOW and Bocopro: I first read Bocopro thinking “but Modern Millie need not give up her amenities to embrace the Constitution and freedom” and then realized (as AOW pointed out) she may lose the income for those amenities.
Then again, if it gets bad enough, she may discover the joys of outhouses and corncobs.
But, the young believe, In the words of Frank Zappa, It Can’t Happen Here.

I think this is much more than just reliving the past, bocopro, don’t you? it’s a mindset, it’s patriotism revisited, it’s not giving in to the socialism that never works and trying to get our kids to wake up….anyway, that’s what I feel this “gray haired brigade” thing is all about. Heck, there are kids who don’t realize everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance or The National Anthem and never felt they were being coerced to be patriotic; they FELT IT. Big difference than today, right!?

AOW…Yes, I hope they come to their senses; if only those kids realized that our economy would have worked better without Obama’s ridiculous infringing on small business.

Ed, thanks for the video. young kids really don’t think bad things can happen to them, they’ve been protected by the system they don’t respect due to leftwing indoctrination and that PERFECTION the left honestly thinks America’s supposed to be. ANY slightest problem and it’s “hate America!” ….they all need to grow up and realize this was a pretty great place despite its woes of race problems and whatever else they’ve been taught was uniquely hideous to US, and start to work toward regaining that country they’ll sorely miss if they go too far left.

This is from a commenter who will not be commenting here but I thought it worthy of printing, so I’ll tell you it’s from what he called himself today in a note to me:”lib who doesn’t get to comment here”

“I know you think mostly I am totally far left, and that’s your right, whether it is true or not. One reason may be my belief, much like Ben Carson’s, that abortion should not be regulated by the government. It’s true, he recently went for the “He’s personally against it” but “It’s between a person, their doctor and hopefully their pastor.” That’s exactly my position.
I truly want less abortions, but not at the urging of their government, at the urging of their heart.
I came across this article today, thought of you and how a fair amount of your readers cannot believe the African American community really thinks much about this issue.
In the interest of providing some balance, and maybe hope, I share it with you. You can do with it as you wish. Please though, just name me as a “lib who doesn’t get to comment here. Thanks…”

Z: My response is that I’ve never thought or said that the Black community thinks nothing of aborting…and, that because of Roe v Wade and how I don’t believe it will ever be overturned, I will say again (at the risk of being condemned again by some of my readers) that I feel exactly as Dr Carson does and have said so here. Do I wish no abortions were legal? Yes…I believe it’s a terrible thing to take a baby’s life. I am a realist with hope but not much hope in this issue changing. Oh, and I also think there’s nothing wrong, contrary to what this commenter said, with the gov’t urging less abortions and more adoptions.

I will also say I thought this commenter was more centrist/left until i saw the withering insults at leftwing blogs about US, which is why he can’t comment here….I hope he reads this. Plus, most conservatives aren’t as snarky as he is.

I’ll be gone all day. Have a good one, everybody.

“Youngsters have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don’t like it after all.” But do they truly understand the alternate? Or are they too confused and mis-educated to know how to find their way out?

It’s hard to know how deep the brainwashing has gone, but the whole spectrum has shifted way left. And few have the proactive intellectual functioning to reason through issues or understand the framework of our Republic. That leaves them in reactive mode – with feelings as their fallback. And that’s what they vote with. Look at the conventions – that’s what they target! I’m afraid that many who will vote against the Democrat are so mired in feelings they will be easily swayed back and forth.

Obama has been soooo bad you’d think it would be like cold water in the face. But I have no confidence that the morons who put him into office will be able to stabilize their thinking to get on the right path. They’ve been trained to reflexively run from any would be rescuers. I’m not sure they’re being offered many good options, either.

  7. Bob says:

I used to think that today’s kids are not stupid. In Georgia they seem to be OK, and trying to get on with life to make a living. However, I do have experience with some of my California relatives, and things are not as good.. They have “good” educations, and make good livings as you must to live in LA and other cities on the west coast. However, it seems that they have been brainwashed, and kept from looking reality in the face.

For example, the so-called power shortage that California experienced was the fruit of their own creation. Yet, the people there simply don’t see that crisis that way. Somehow, greedy capitalists preyed on California. Indeed, predators did prey on California because of stupid laws, and then made fortunes. California managed to get themselves into position to be screwed.

Now, they are jumping in head over heels on this carbon emissions thing. Dumb. Really dumb. In the last twenty years the CO2 concentration has increased twenty-fold, and yet the global average temperature has not increased at all. Carbon is not a problem.

Sometimes I think that our children will get what they deserve, and sometimes I think they will pull it off. As Z said, a lot of this is up to us to vote the current socialists and corporate cronies out of office, and install someone with a grain of common sense.

By the way, I don’t think that person is Donald Trump.

  8. baysider says:

Bob’s right about California, Our town is full of morons who don’t even look before stepping off the curb, heads buried in their phones. Maybe this problem will be self-correcting.

  9. Sparky says:

A lot of pretty words. I dunno Z. I’m afraid a lot of “gray hairs” also voted for these Demoncrats. They want everything and kids future be damned. Guess I’m getting sour on any hope. Sorry to be a Debby Downer. We’ll see what happens in 2016. All I know is I’m praying a LOT and OFTEN for mercy.

  10. bunkerville says:

Too many of us old geezers failed to show up to vote for Romney. While there is no need at this point to debate the merits of Romney, surely taking out Obama would have been a worthwhile achievement. If the same number of GOPers had voted the last Presidential election as compared to Obama’s first election, the pundits have said Obama would have been long gone. Either way, the geezers have come out the last to elections and put a Gop led House and Senate, and just what did that get us. Sorry to be cynical todayl. 🙂

  11. Kid says:

I’m with Sparky here. I know a stunning number of grey hairs who are morons, hilrod supporters, etc. I kinow as many, (if not more actually) old idiots than young idiots.
I’m praying for mercy too. If the country is being flushed I sure don’t want the last thing I see to be a much too large pantsuit full of human garbage.

  12. geeez2014 says:

Baysider says “Bob’s right about California, Our town is full of morons who don’t even look before stepping off the curb, heads buried in their phones. Maybe this problem will be self-correcting.”
THAT is funny, Bay….ya, if enough loony libs step off the curb without looking for cars, we might win the next elections 🙂

Bob, I know SO MANY really conservative Californians in L.A.. and our elections are often so close but the damn libs win every time. Let’s not forget we were lucky enough to have the marvelous Geo. Deukmejian and the so-so republican Wilson and, of course, RONALD REAGAN…
Heck, it’s so liberal in L.A. that I was supporting BOBBY SHRIVER FOR SUPERVISOR this last local election! BOBBY SHRIVER…Z!!??? He was running against that BIG IDIOT “Zelda” from the old The Dobie Gillis Show”, Sheila Keuhl (sp?)…Lesbian Liberal LOON who has held public office, then blackmailed Santa Monica College into giving her a BIG fat salaried useless job until she could find something else to run for…and SHE WON!
    DARN IT!!

Sparks and Kid…not saying that all grey hairs are rightwingers, that is FOR SURE….but at least there are a LOT who feel like the person who wrote the piece in my post!

Bunk; YES! They did NOT vote for Romney, those DAMNED IDIOTS…!!!! THEY wrecked America because HE ISN”T CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH..HE”S MORMON….WE WON”T WIN, ANYWAY!

ALL OF YOU: Believe me, I DO NOT BLAME YOU FOR BEING CYNICAL DOWNERS…..I wish I could say you’re wrong, but WE ALL FEEL CYNICAL AND DOWN.

I just tried to perk us up with this post; SORRY (Smile!)

  13. Mal says:

Yeah, Z. They didn’t vote for Mormon Romney and chose Muslim Obama instead! Smart move, IDIOTS!
