Le Pen to stand trial ………thoughts?

marine le pen 1Marine Le Pen, leader of France’s Front National (FN) party, will stand trial over historic comments she made comparing Muslim street prayers to the wartime occupation of France.

Marine Le Pen’s former lawyer and FN party treasurer, Wallerand de Saint Just, has confirmed prosecutors in Lyon will send her to trial on 20 October on charges of inciting racial hatred, reports the Evening Express.

Saint Just framed the issue as a question of freedom of speech, saying: “Political leaders must be able to speak without being afraid of being taken before a judge.”

Le Pen made the comments during her 2010 campaign to take over the FN’s leadership from the party founder, her father, Jean-Marie Le Pen. According to France 24, when addressing a rally of supporters in Lyon she said:

“I’m sorry, but for those who really like to talk about World War II, if we’re talking about an occupation, we could talk about the [street prayers], because that is clearly an occupation of territory.

“It is an occupation of sections of the territory, of neighborhoods in which religious law applies – it is an occupation. There are no tanks, there are no soldiers, but it is an occupation nevertheless, and it weighs on people.”

After the initial investigation into Le Pen’s comments was closed in 2011, the case was reopened in 2012 following a legal complaint by a rights group. She was then put under formal investigation in July 2014, after immunity granted her as a member of the European Parliament was removed following a vote requested by French authorities in 2013.

The trial for “inciting discrimination over people’s religious beliefs” has been described as “a scandal” by Le Pen.

She said: “It is a scandal that a political leader can be sued for expressing her beliefs. Those who denounce the illegal behaviour of fundamentalists are more likely to be sued than the fundamentalists who behave illegally.”

Le Pen believes her views are those of the majority and that being stripped of her immunity brings “to the fore the issue of daily violations against secularism in France”.

As Breitbart London previously reported Le Pen has attempted to modernise the anti-EU, anti-mass immigration party her father once led in order to give her the best chance of presidential run in 2017. She wants the party to be defined by its opposition to the EU and a defence of secularism, not her father’s xenophobia and anti-Semitism.

December’s local elections were intended to maintain that direction, adding momentum to her presidential ambitions. Some commentators say the trial, taking place weeks before the local elections, could harm Le Pen’s chances of winning as expected in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region. Others have expressed doubts as to whether the trial is the right move.

“She will no doubt try to turn this to her advantage and make herself out to be the victim of some kind of plot between the mainstream parties, who have had her right to free speech taken away from her,” Jean-Yves Camus told The Local, “if they really wanted to deal with Marine Le Pen it would have been much wiser for the mainstream political parties to just concentrate on themselves and on what they say. For example, the more the centre-right party talks about Islam the more they give legitimacy to the National Front.”

Z: Of course, she’s 100% correct.  What about foreigners taking over the streets is not an invasion?  Anybody remember the pictures of NAZIs marching up the Champs Elysee?  (From Breitbart…thanks to Imp for sending me this info)

What do you think about this?

To generally quote Orwell, in times of universal deceit [which is indeed a core principle of Islam], speaking the truth in public becomes a revolutionary and dangerous act.

Or as Colonel Jessep tells the uber-lib Kaffee, “You can’t handle the truth.”

  2. Hmmm, suppress your political opposition using prosecution or harassment by a government agency.
    Glad that can’t happen here.

  3. Sparky says:

France is still being ruled by fascists. I will pray for her that her message may resonate that the people will finally revolt against these strong arm tactics,

  4. fredd says:

The French are still a feisty lot, on the whole. When the state starts to get too uppity, and the ‘let them eat cake’ crowd at the top loses its mandate over the governed, the French folk may just take those old guillotines out of mothballs, and storm the Bastille again.

    Nes pas?

  5. silverfiddle says:

Free Speech here in the US is a global anomaly. In Europe, there are whole categories of prosecutable speech.

This is one of the reasons why Europe is mired in its current crisis, and there is no sign of hope that anything will change for them. It is an unholy mess of their own making, and thanks to oppressive laws that criminalize speech, the leftwing progressive parade marches on.

This is why a truly free people recognize Freedom of Expression as a fundamental, foundational right. Erode it, and the other rights begin to crumble.

  6. alec says:

This morning our NYC apartment was blasted by the amplified sounds of Islamic prayers from a public park a block away. The droning sounds went on and on. Noise complaints seem futile – our locally elected representative is the NYC council chair for immigration.

I checked my anger at having the peace of my home disturbed yet again. Regained my calm, and headed out.

A mile away the bus slowed. We all looked to the left to see an entire cross-street filled with white-clad, kneeling, young and fierce-looking men. All conversation was ground to silence.

Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: -Isaiah 26.3 God bless everyone who still has enough sense to speak the truth. This are seeds. Freedom-loving people won’t like the tree.

  7. Kid says:

I have to wonder why it is legal in France to block a street like that. Otherwise people have to live with the laws they have or get them changed by majority rule.
I just see it getting mind bendingly ugly in EU until and if they come to their senses about these savages.

  8. Kid says:

Alec, maybe you could keep a grill fired up with wood and cheap smoking pork products.

  9. alec says:

I was thinking about passing out some tracts like this one if I can find anyone else crazy enough to join me.

  10. Mustang says:

Authorities have charged Le Pen with “incitement to discrimination over people’s religious beliefs,” which means that any repeated joke spoken in France involving a priest, a rabbi, and an imam is strictly verboten. France has become the epitome of Animal Farm, a mainstay of insanity, a nation without honor. I would like to see Le Pen become President of France, but I have no doubt someone living under a diaper will kill her before then—which when you think about it seems awfully discriminatory.

  11. Mal says:

The spooky thought is, will this happen here next? Are we going to be so PC we actually defend and encourage this ideology? GOD FORBID! Our big advantage over the other countries:

  12. John M. Berger says:

“The spooky thought is, will this happen here next?”

I guess that we will know in 2016.

  13. Mal says:

    Exactly, John. Right on!

  14. geeez2014 says:

    Bocopro..imagine? That’s a revolutionary ACT?

Ed….I’m very glad the IRS never thought about doing this, right? 😦 Whatever happened to Lois Lerner? I know she’s still collecting her huge pay check.

    Sparky..pray HARD!

Alec…nobody on the bus said ANYTHING out loud at all? This is astonishing…….what nerve and what right have they?
And good luck with that tract 🙂 (have a gun on you!!) (or a little carry-on for the jail time)!!

Kid…the minute the darned EU started I hated it…and Mr. Z liked it …I think this was probably the only thing I was really right on and he was really wrong on….and admitted it. NO BORDER CHECKS between EU countries is total SUICIDE.
And I LOVE your idea of pork products being BBQ’d in those areas!!!

mustang, if nobody killed Papa Le Pen, she’ll probably be okay…he was even more hated ….

I’m not sure if the French are waking up……I sure hope so.

Mal and JMB…..It’s hard to consider another leftwinger in the WH…that’ll be the end …PC will reign…

AS MOST OF YOU KNOW: Marine Le Pen’s father was terribly vilified for suggesting that foreigners have become too numerous and far too unproductive and are threatening the amazingly gorgeous French Culture (he’s right, although a LOT of foreigners have assimilated, speak beautiful French and do contribute; I lived there, I saw it and I won’t lie about that)….

Part of the kickback toward Marine is their hatred for her father. The Lefties I used to allow here LOVED to pick the worse part of his speeches and represent him only by that…it never failed. With idiots like that who won’t FINALLY admit beautiful, decent cultures are dying because of immigrants, how do things change?

As I said the other day, the dear American friend I met while we both lived in Paris was there every year since she came back to the States, about `10 years ago, but she said this summer might have been her last “Z, it’s just not the same at all… hijabs everywhere, people very fearful of the Metro, terror threats constant, purses and wallets stolen all the time now, etc etc..” It’s awful. That was PARIS, folks…hate the French all you want based on whatever criterion you use, but it is a GORGEOUS, DELICIOUS, LOVELY place…….and this a damn SIN.

  15. Imp says:

@Z…”With idiots like that who won’t FINALLY admit beautiful, decent cultures are dying because of immigrants, how do things change?”

That alone has me asking this question…If we keep importing those from THERE to HERE…how long will it take before HERE becomes THERE?

  16. Imp says:

How long do you think we’ll have before we get a couple ( or one ) of these shitheads driving a bus or a van into a WalMart of a mall…as a suicide monkey?

  17. geeez2014 says:

Imp! Of course HERE will become THERE…that’s the plan
Forgive that this is my dreaded WND….If there’s a video with it, as the one above that a friend sent to me, then I believe WND..
They’ve been building mosques in German villages where no muslims live for about 20 years……..It’s got to be Saudi money, what else? They’re just getting READY

As far as WalMart suicide bombers..that’s what training camps are about.
I was stunned to hear Geraldo Rivera, I think it was?, say there are no training camps in AMerica when we’ve heard about these since our old FrontPage Mag days, Imp.

  18. FB says:

Well she turned the National Front into a socialist nationalistic party that is now full of former communists. Not sure Breitbart realizes that.

  19. bocopro says:

Quit listenin to Geraldo ’cause he just upsets me. Sometimes he’d say somethin and I’d think, “Yeah, hermano . . . right on!” And then next time he’d come up with stuff that’d make me wanna pull his tongue out and nail it to his forehead.

Apparently the point is that controversy sells air time and newsprint . . . and there ain’t no such thing as bad publicity.

He placed himself irretrievably in the flibbertigibbet category as far as I’m concerned, and I won’t listen to him any more.

Amazing that he’s not simply ignorant, but that he understands so much that’s just dead wrong.

  20. Kid says:

Just heard a story about the two buses colliding on the bridge. A witness said “There must have been something wrong with one of the buses since it never hit the brakes and in fact seemed to be on full throttle.” Could the something wrong be a moslem vermin at the wheel? I can’t wait to hear the name of the driver.

  21. Imp says:

@Kid….could be they hired one of them that just survived the mooslem crush yesterday? 717 of them were so excited to see allah…..they stomped each other to death. I wonder if we have their coordinates in the football?

  22. Imp says:

@Z…wherever Saracens gather….there’s a training camp….in all 50 states including every mosque as a fall back headquarters and sanctuary.

  23. Kid says:

@IMP. At work this morning one of the guys in IT was reading the news about the stampede and asked, “So, what Is mecca anyway?” I blurted out “The perfect cordinates for a Nuke”.
Well, it got a nervous laugh.

  24. alec says:

Hey Kid, look out or you may be in line for some of that “sensitivity training” Ed was signed up to take.

  25. Kid says:

Alec, I’m too sensitive already. I’m immune. 🙂

  26. I still have the course materials.
Given some time I’ll blog it.
    It was hilarious.

  27. geeez2014 says:

FB…I don’t think anybody knows that…tell us… Le Pen, the father, was no communist from what I’d read….
And he certainly was no socialist, right?

bocopro.,..a little difficult not to listen to Geraldo when he’s on a show with other panelists. I couldn’t agree with you more about Geraldo, however….sometimes he gets it, then he’s OFFF>..like Juan Williams…. It’s important to remember that if one feels that way, many feel that way….and it’s just stupid not to think there are training camps in the US.

Ed, looking forward to your blogging it…looks like Kid NEEDS IT BADLY 🙂 Alec’s right!!!

  28. Kid says:

    I need it bad Z….

  29. alec says:

Hey Ed, maybe you can start an online course. Could be a good side business. Looks like you’ve already got a few of us as potential customers…

  30. geeez2014 says:

    Kid…no, you really don’t 🙂

Alec…boy, that iS a good idea!

  31. geeez2014 says:

alec, am still smiling about the ON LINE COURSE FOR SENSITIVITY TRAINING! It could be a VERY funny comedy routine.

  32. Baysider says:

It could be a VERY funny comedy routine. Benny Hill or Monty Python

Freedom-loving people won’t like the tree. Well said, Alec.

Here’s another ‘tract’ for you, Alex – The Ambassador’s Guide to Islam. It was written by an Assyrian Christian for Stand to Reason. https://store.str.org/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BK331
It’s about how to engage muslims in a winsome and attractive manner as Christian ambassadors. But here’s the thing: Someone found these being handed out at a local mosque. The mosque was having a ‘get to know Islam’ event and had copies of these and the Koran available in their lobby for people to take. Apparently, they had never read the book! They just went by the picture on the cover, which is why I inserted the link.

Le Pen is right, of course. They are invading. So in France is the truth not an absolute defense? (No, and not in Canada either. Ask Mark Steyn.)

  33. jerrydablade says:

Ed, I’ve been waiting for that report on sensitivity training (thanks for the remind Alec). I’m sure one of us would post it for you under a pseudonym. We’d never tell!

Z, this is off topic (except for loose definition of street prayer) but my 21-yr old son was looking at FB on his phone last night while we were watching TV, when he said out loud, “they dumped a bucket of water on it!”. His mother and I had no idea what he was talking about until he explained. He had spent several hours with other members of a small campus Pro Life group doing pro life sidewalk art with chalk. The look on his face. Hey, this is UM-Flint, I’m surprised they weren’t accosted WHILE they were doing this. Tough lesson.

I’ve been waiting for Ed’s report on his sensitivity training (thanks for that reminder, Alec). I’m sure one of us would let him post at our blogs under a pseudonym if he’s worried one of his bosses would see.

Off topic Z (except with a losses definition of street prayers) my 21 year old son was browsing FB while we were watching TV when he said out loud, “they poured a bucket of water on it!”. His mother and I didn’t know what he was referring to until he explained. It seems he had spent a few hours with other members of a campus pro life group drawing sidewalk pro life art. Apparently, someone found this free speech offensive and had it washed away. You should have seen my son’s face. Frankly, I’m surprised they weren’t accosted WHILE they were doing this (UM-Flint after all). Just a life lesson.

  35. FB says:

Marine Le Pen’s discourse on economics is socialist. Her father was against the income tax. The National Front became stronger as the Communist Party became weaker. The French communist party is now non existent and it is because its electorate, very popular, blue collar, moved to the National Front. As a result, its discourse changed. It also pleases its traditionalist catholic base who is center right or center left.

A guy like Alain Soral, strong antisemite was a former communist. He’s now in line with the National Front for example.
