A friend sent me some terrific images, you know, the type of email with 10 images about politicians, culture, etc….mostly, they’re pretty good. But the one above really got to me.
Isn’t that the truth today, that every time a law is broken, the Left suddenly says society’s guilty rather than the law breaker?
This is not a very far concept from what I say around here quite often, that the Left wants to legislate kindness, goodness, safety, etc. Sure, we can legislate safety in a way; we can wear seat belts and helmets, they help. But to have laws about the temperature of coffee at a McDonald’s because one person got a burn on HOT COFFEE, is so dumb! That person should have been more careful with her coffee, not McDonald’s!
And, MOST dumb it when people do really awful things and, immediately, the Leftist media goes into their past…If being a child of a single mother, something frequently noted when a killer’s on trial, then why doesn’t the Left promote MARRIAGE? Being on drugs is WRONG, someone who killed under the influence is GUILTY! Society doesn’t force anybody to get high!
I am lucky enough to never have had drug or alcohol problems in my immediate family. I’m not heartless but I sometimes ask myself why I’m not more gracious toward addicts or alcoholics; we have learned in the last years not to look down on them for having made really bad choices and drunk too much or tried heavy drugs, but is it ME or are we giving them a complete pass lately? Is it more of what Reagan said or is it a gray area? I had never heard that Jeb Bush’s daughter fought drugs and seems to have come out on the other side until today. Have you all heard about this or is he opening up to appear like the gentler, ‘real’ man with ‘real’ family problems and not just the rich son of a political dynasty? I know; that sounds cold, doesn’t it…just askin’!
Anyway….when DID this SHIFT HAPPEN when, as Reagan said, we stopped holding individuals responsible and start blaming society?

We have a lot more losers today and are getting more every day, thanks in large part to our loser promoting federal administration for the last 7 years.
Aside from this, the left likes lawlessness because it helps them legislate our freedoms away. I’m in favor of none of this legislation. If people want to live dangerously, let them. Think of the contradictions . Ohio has a seat belt law but doesn’t require helmets. If it was really about personal safety,. why do we let people fly off the tops of mountains in wingsuits?
The left promotes the losers as that speeds the process to lawlessness and expands it which again helps them take away our liberties. The reason they want to do this is because they know how evil they are and they’re afraid a sufficient number of us may find out and turn on them in in large numbers. It also helps them steal more of our money.

PS – As Comrade Brezmanov tells us, one of the major steps to take when you want to take over a country is to demoralize the population. Turn art into formless nonsense, send dudes in skirts into girls private areas, that sort of thing.

While [we], as a society, move away from the Judeo/Christian Ethic, which instills personal responsibility, all that can be expected is MORE and MORE of this. As a result [society], at large, will suffer restrictions on freedom which will be imposed upon it due to acts and omissions by its few but growing irresponsible members. I hate to sound homiletic but that’s the way I see it.

Made me go look for a rant I did some time back on the same subject, but I couldn’t find it. Think the title was Ou sont l’ethique d’antan? or somethin like that. Found a lotta words that dribbled outta the ends of my fingers on the general topic, but not the partic’lar blurb I was lookin for.
What I know is that we are no longer a nation of do-ers, but a rabble of takers. Gone are the confidence, the enterprise, the energy, the resourcefulness, the creativity.
We don’t build anything any more; what we do is buy things, and on borrowed money. Our government doesn’t understand public service any more; what they do is provide self service to their own careers and lip service to the rest of us.
We don’t command respect any more; we encourage contempt. We don’t honor our obligations any more; we kick the can down the road and raise the debt ceiling.
The sassiness of the post-war euphoria has been replaced by snottiness of the entitlement mentality.
The push-the-envelope boldness of a world leader has been replaced by the political correctness of a wimp organizer.
The trust in government which won WWII for us has been replaced by a lust for power which gridlocked progress.
The accountability of our forefathers has been replaced contemptibility for custom and tradition.
Family has been replaced by artificiality, honor has been replaced by terror, and reverence has been replaced by ambivalence.
The modern-day American resembles the people who built this country in about the same way that modern-day Italians resemble the Romans who once conquered their entire known world.

And, by the way…..he said he tried to stab a friend when he was about 13, and spoke to that person yesterday but he doesn’t want to reveal who it is. Now, if I were that friend, I’d probably come forward, wouldn’t you? I mean, it’s not HE who tried to kill, it’s Carson! Why NOT come forward?

I’m now hearing that Carson supposedly lied about getting a scholarship to West Point….here’s the skivvy:
“Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has long maintained that he was “offered a full scholarship to West Point,” while a high school student in Detroit. His campaign said on Friday that the offer was made informally by his high school ROTC leader, and that he never applied to attend the military school.
“He was introduced to folks from West Point by his ROTC Supervisors,” Doug Watts, Carson’s communications director said in a statement. “They told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in ROTC. He considered it but in the end did not seek admission.”
Well, it looks to me that if someone was told they could get an appointment to West Point, that sounds like a scholarship to ME….West Point, I believe, is FREE (tax payers, not FREE, of course!) So……….what’s the problem, except it’s fodder for Trump.
AND BUSH. A friend just called and suggested ALL THIS STUFF AGAINST CARSON COULD BE FROM THE BUSH PEOPLE….hmmmm
As far as the attempts to knife a friend, now a relative, who wouldn’t use ‘relative’ instead of ‘friend’ if you really didn’t want to disclose WHO it was?
My question still stands, though……..let that person come forward; nobody’s saying that person hurt anybody…why NOT come forward if it’ll help your relative BECOME PRESIDENT?

I wrote a short rant about him today, but I suspect it wouldn’t be well received hereabouts. Some of his statements have come across to me as a bit schizophrenic from time to time. Modified for the audience du-jour.
The one that bothered me most, tho, is the plagiarism accusation. No excuse for that. I admit right up front that I steal freely and indiscriminately from sources I find clever or interesting. But if it’s even remotely official, as in a paper for coursework or a foreword to someone else’s work, I take special care to document and attribute source.

And, by the way, did the media EVER ask why Obama’s two books are apparently written by 2 people, according to experts? Many feel Bill Ayers wrote DREAMS OF MY FATHER…the only year Ayers didn’t publish his own book, if you want to believe some.

What the Clinton News Network is doing, what the Bush assassins are doing, explains why we cannot find good people to run for elective office. Who benefits from all of these attacks? Not the American people. In contrast, the casual observer will notice how CNN protected Obama declaring everyone a racist who asked legitimate questions, such as “May we see his collect records and birth certificates, please?” If white Americans were racists in the same way black Americans are racist, then Obama would never have been elected.
@Z … Dreams of my Father is Obama’s communist manifesto and I think you’re right about ghost writers and big money backing the publication. Originally published in 1995, the book only sold around 8,500 copies until Obama announced his candidacy for the presidency. I know you will be surprised to learn that the US State Department purchased $70,000.00 worth of this book in 2011. Corruption? Nah … just a lot of people in the State Department enjoy a good fiction. I would not be surprised to learn that the book’s overall popularity is related to a campaign similar to this one: “buy a book, get a free Obama phone.”

The accusation has been overblown, but the facts are clear: he lifted and pasted tracts from other works which then appeared to be his own since they weren’t properly attributed to the source.
His trend was to cite his sources in endnotes but not to quote or otherwise indicate that he was NOT simply paraphrasing or summarizing or editing. He just C & Pd stuff. In all fairness, he often mentions his source authors in prefacing remarks or in running text, but not clearly enough for someone of his scholastic experience and abilities, habits I would excoriate in student papers if I found them.

Z, I just read this after an hour discussion with my trainer on this SAME topic. We have really been invaded by vagrants. He kept saying “why do they put up with this?” You know the police in this town do NOTHING. He’s having the same problem we are – vagrant does something on your property then runs to another and YOU can’t call police because he’s no longer on your property. They all know it, too.
Mr. B had one throw that back in his face when he told the man (next door, leaning over our fence) to leave or he’d get the police out (the vagrant wasn’t being ‘harmless’ btw). Fortunately, Mr. B used a – er – choice phrase that was actually more convincing than an empty threat to get the police involved. He left!
My trainer’s vagrant had a helper (sober woman) occasionally, but who would scream (yes, scream) at HIM for harassing the guy and having no compassion (trainer is a very sweet guy with a gentle manner – not the jock that comes to mind). Vagrant was drunk, with a buddy, littering, peeing hanging out at yards all over the neighborhood. Being a total nuisance. Complaining it was everyone else’s fault. He said “aren’t there laws about vagrancy?” No so’s you’d notice. And YOU have hit the answer square on – because at heart the left believes it’s everyone else’s fault.
BTW. Santa Monica was once added to the ‘meanest cities’ list by a national ‘homeless’ group for requiring groups that fed vagrants in the parks pay the City’s annual tab of $40,000 for park rangers and cleanup after meals (yeah, the little ingrates couldn’t police up their own area in exchange for free food – and you ask ‘why are they on the street?’).

Mustang….I agree with you. I often ask friends “picture this…do you think ANY publisher would publish an autobiography by an unknown man who’s done nothing in his life? And offered big bucks to do so? I believe it’s said he and Michelle went to some island on which to write one of his books… Publishers just DON”T DO THIS.
That’s another thing that forces me to consider who backed Obama from the very early days…remember, “I don’t know Bill Ayers” turned into OOPS! They were on boards together, their wives had worked together AND the first ‘coffee’ for Obama’s candidacy was held in Ayers’ home.
Gee, where was the media on THAT LIE? To say nothing of the hundreds more?
