Good Grief! Obama thinks Christmas is about loving tiny trees

President Obama took a break from saving the icebergs to weigh in on what he believes to be the true meaning of Christmas – loving tiny trees.
The president, along with the first lady, delivered their homage to foliage during an appearance on a television program recognizing the 50th anniversary of “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
“For half a century, people of all ages have gathered around the tv to watch Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the gang teach us the true meaning of Christmas,” Mrs. Obama said during a taping of ABC’s “It’s Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown.”
The Obama family is free to celebrate and decorate however they see fit. But what is not within their purview is to revise the true meaning of Christmas.
That was all well and good – until President Obama chimed in.
“They teach us that tiny trees just need a little love, and that on this holiday we celebrate peace on Earth and goodwill toward all,” he said.
Wait. What?
Does the president really believe that “A Charlie Brown Christmas” was all about tiny trees pining for love?
“Because as Linus knows, that’s what Christmas is all about,” Mrs. Obama declared.
Good Grief, America.
As the Christian Post first reported – President Obama failed to mention Jesus.
I wish I could say that I was surprised by this nonsense. It’s not such much a war on Christmas as it is a war on ignorance.
It reminds me of the Obamas first Christmas in the White House — when they actually considered removing the Nativity from the East Room.
And more often than not — that the White House holiday cards and decorations in recent years have glorified the family dog — instead of you-know-who.
Remember the Yuletide topiaries shaped like Bo the First Pooch?
The Obama family is free to celebrate and decorate however they see fit.
But what is not within their purview is to revise the true meaning of Christmas.
So let’s take a moment and reflect with Linus Van Pelt on the Reason for the Season.
“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.’”
And that, Mr. President, is what Christmas is all about – celebrating the birth of Jesus – not a tree.

Z: Funny…when I say clips of this Charlie Brown Special, it included the scripture above and I thought “Wow, a Christmas special that actually mentions CHRIST? , that first syllable of CHRISTmas? COOL!”
And then I saw the message from the Obamas above…..a president and first lady doing their damndest to downplay Christ, God FORBID someone be offended. What do they think CHRISTMAS IS? Our Christmas goose is SO cooked. And I don’t mean in a “Come and get it!” way.
What do you think of this Obama message? What’s wrong with mentioning the faith and indisputable heritage of approximately 3/4 of this country?
“No, Mr and Mrs. Obama, this season is not about a TREE……that kid Linus can tell the truth, why can’t YOU?”
NOW we know who Lucy’s been waiting for…….the Obamas.

Doesn’t one translation say something like “good will toward men of God’s own choosing”? I remember hearing something about that translation several decades ago.

Barry has always had a problem with religious folks as constituents. He knows they vote, and often for him and his ilk, but they seem problematic when he casts votes in the Illinois senate to kill babies after botched abortions.
Barry is not all that different from the GOP establishment types. They both wish that these anti-abortion types would just disappear and make their lives easier.

I b’lieve I’ve found the flaw in your logic. It rests in the initial subject-verb pair: “Obama thinks” which very obviously is not the case.

None of you seemed surprised at the conduct of our Commander in Chief. This last week, he was in Paris, France huddling with other leftists about a pretend problem with the climate. Z’s article simply underlines the empty-brain syndrome of which our President is so often guilty. Given Obama’s pretend science and problems, it is altogether fitting that he describe a pretend Christmas with the First-Pretend-Lady present.
I am just trying to pretend that he is not around. So far, it’s not working.

I believe his administration is NOW saying that “our biggest fear is a backlash toward muslims in this country”..
WHAT?????????? Americans are KILLED at a CHRISTMAS PARTY (something most of the media’s ignored, by the way) and they’re more concerned about MUSLIM BACKLASH!? I think it might be MUSLIMS who want to be more concerned about that and let our president worry ABOUT US for a change!??

The conflict is that some (all?) newer translations, which I rarely trust because they are based on suspect fragments (whose authenticity is usually credited to being “more ancient”), say something like “whom god favors”.
But.
God has favored us all with the opportunity to accept his free gift of salvation through Jesus.
Salvation is offered to all.
We don’t all respond.
(Calvinists will say otherwise and it’s an old argument not to be settled here)
