walking kids

Shirley & Marcy ….and Timmy and friend

A mother was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school. He didn’t want his mother to walk with him. She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet know that he was safe.

So she had an idea of how to handle it. She asked a neighbor if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance, so he probably wouldn’t notice her. She said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed.

The next school day, the neighbor and her little girl set out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor girl he knew. She did this for the whole week.

As the two kids walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, Timmy ‘s little friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day all week. Finally she said to Timmy, ‘Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know her?’

Timmy nonchalantly replied, ‘Yeah, I know who she is.’

The little girl said, ‘Well, who is she?’

‘That’s just Shirley Goodnest, ‘Timmy replied, ‘and her daughter Marcy.’

‘Shirley Goodnest? Who is she and why is she following us?

‘Well,’ Timmy explained, ‘every night my Mum makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, ‘cuz she worries about me so much. And in the Psalm, it says, ‘ Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life’, so I guess I’ll just have to get used to it!’

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace….and a smile at the adorable story above!

May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you today and always.

Have a great Sunday!

Great fan of Richard Lederer and appreciate the spontaneous mondegreen when I hear it.

    IRT Shirley and Marci,

Mairzy doats and dozey doats and little lambsy divy. And there’s Gladly the cross-eyed bear (Gladly, the cross I’d bear). Sung by the little boy who insisted that God has two names: Harold and Andy, Harold from “Our Father, who art in Heaven, Harold be thy name,” and Andy from “Andy walks with me, Andy talks with me, Andy tells me I am his own.”

He also asked that He “Forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets.” Well, that’s o.k., because we all know “there’s a bathroom on the right” (bad moon on the rise). He got confused when he heard the hymn “Lead on, Oh, Kinky Turtle” (Lead on, Oh, King Eternal).

“. . . and to the Republic for Richard Stands,” right? But don’t call me “Shirley.”

bocopro…yes, I love all those plays on words.
A favorite was when the Mexican came to his first American baseball game and got home to questions about how it was. He said “The peoplwere so kind!…I had to sit waaaay high in the stands and everybody stood up and asked “Jose, CAN YOU SEE?!”

Bunkerville…just finding out it’s an LGBT bar….So now what? Will liberals wake up to the islamist terror code or will they happily find some clue that shows it was not terror, “just this guy’s feelings” (hilarious) and wait till the next one to deny? SO SO sad.

    Ed, I’d thought that, too!

    Glad you all liked this.

And this will be blamed on THE GUN. The gun LEAPT out of its drawer and into this monster’s hands and he just couldn’t control that gun as it shot and shot gay people! Right?

(and I try not to talk politics today but such a sad day deserves SOME conversation, doesn’t it)

have a happy Sunday. Pray for the victims’ families, please.

The first thing that came to mind when learning about the shooting is……..people will want Trump again…..forget about that Judge thing. That’s history now. “Lets stop all Muslims from coming in until we find out what the Hell is happening!” Are they gonna finally get it?
    NO MORE PC………..PLEASE!

The play on words thing was cute, too. I love those play on words, too!

Cute post, Z. The neighbor was an angel. There are angels all around us, sometimes taking the corporeal form. I know a couple of those angels in our neighborhood, and know some in my family. All it takes is love.

NOW is the time for Muslims to come out and say WE DENOUNCE THIS BEING DONE IN OUR NAME, WE DENOUNCE TERROR, ISLAMIC OR OTHER, WE DENOUNCE THOSE MUSLIMS LIVING HERE WHO MEAN HARM OR A CHANGE IN THE LAWS IN THIS GREAT COUNTRY….AND WE’RE HAVING A MILLION MAN MARCH ON XXX DATE…ENOUGH’S ENOUGH.

Let me take that one step further to say that those Muslims who delay or circumlocute or refuse to denounce terror in the name of their religion are complicit in the deeds, the murders and destruction and rapes and general mayhem, committed by their brethren in the name of their god.

Of course the “core issue” is not violence in se but the availability of guns, right?

I’m gonna go with Senator Sessions (Alabammer) on this:

“We see apparently today more of these attacks are coming, it’s a real part of the threat that we face and if we can’t address it openly and directly and say directly that there is an extremist element within Islam that’s dangerous to the world and has to be confronted, we need to slow down and be careful about those we admit into the country.”

Mal, they usually are until they pick up a gun. Heck and that goes for your non-moslem whack job mass murderer too. The theater shootings, the school shootings.

Trying to stop that is counter to the solution. The solution is everyone (or many) is armed. So when one whack job shows up to kill many, many pull their gun and blast him to hell. Then these incidents will stop.
