We all know by now about the horrific mass murder of 50 people, and injuries to another 53, in Orlando, Florida, at an LGBT club called PULSE. I have been watching coverage a little and wondered about a few things:
- I was curious as to what constitutes reason for the White House to lower the flag at half mast. ANY murder, or MANY murders? Should it matter? Perhaps it’s better to save that for murders done specifically to Americans in the line of duty. I don’t know. What’s your thought?
- It is not a crime to pledge allegiance to ISIS in our country. That’s protected by the First Amendment. It occurred to me that that’s INSANE. I was also reminded that American school children cannot be forced to say the Pledge of Allegiance or sing the National Anthem. Think about that.
The very WORST point that hit me, and probably YOU, is #3, and that is the fact that the FBI says they have known about this guy for a couple of years. And this guy had enough complaints about his threats and other frightening talk to warrant two interviews by the FBI…Count ’em. TWO. They let him go.
Obama never did mention Islam in his statement about the shootings yesterday. My link has the full text.
What hit you about the whole horrible situation? What do you think of the points I listed above? Is it sensible for Obama to keep skirting the MUSLIM thing? Did he perhaps feel he didn’t have enough information to back it up? The guy DID call 911 as he was shooting and pledged his allegiance to ISIS. Did our president not know what WE know?’
Last night, I heardLGBT leaders blaming Republicans and Christians for the killings. The rhetoric of Republicans and Christians creates hatred toward gays, apparently? I’m thinking this killer had ZIP to do with Christians OR Republicans, or I missed something?!
And the media keeps saying “the killer pledged allegiance to ISIS but we have no idea what the actual ties were…” as if it has nothing to do with Islamist radicals unless he was a card-carrying ISIS member?
And BY THE WAY: This guy had pledged his allegiance to ISIS over the last few years and the FBI knows “about 100 other people who are attached to ISIS in some way.” They are on their radar screen. REALLY? We’re wasting FBI time and talent trash like that? My solution is if you say you like ISIS ANYWHERE, on Facebook, to a friend, etc….then OFF YOU GO. By Plane. Dropped into the arms of ISIS. No parachute. In the Middle East somewhere.
WE LET THEM STAY HERE WHEN THEY SAY THEY LOVE ISIS?
Thoughts? And please pray for the families of the victims and for those still so badly injured.
