We do know:

* The event happened at a gay bar
How it’s being “spun”:
1. (Internationally especially) America needs real gun control laws
2. (domestically) Religious fundamentalists murder gays

Mal, there were articles for about 2 weeks after Obama’s first inauguration about what church they’d attend. They were ‘looking’…..the only churches they go to now are what the media always calls “historically Black churches”….and when called on that, they say they attend the chapel at Camp David when they’re there. I think they’ve been to Camp David once, by the way.
Do I particularly CARE that we have a president who’s Christian and attends church? No, not really.

So, I just read that the 2 year old was 10 feet from the shore. It happens at 9:15 at night. Unclear how far away the dad was at the time. Intentional outcome? At least one parent has been charged for baking his kid in a hot car.

Mal, I just listened to the tragic story from the Sheriff, who I think has done a great job in the wake of stories wanting to place total blame on Disney…though they will have to pay a LOT because there was no sign about alligators, just something about being careful in the water or something.
The expert said alligators were almost extinct but there are literally thousands of them now….

Kid, the Sheriff said that the kid was splashing at the very edge of water…one expert guessed the water was less than one foot… father nearby….the alligators apparently come from nowhere and snatch quickly and hold victims underwater….body was found intact, but drowned. No hint of intent even mentioned. The experts are surprised the body was intact because the alligators generally devour immediately; I’m guessing the father’s trying hard to extricate the kid might have prevented the alligator from devouring it…

It’s Florida…I thought we all knew that. Gators are everywhere. Waterside communities? Yea…Even if they dig a large artificial lake / pond to use for building fill….gators will fill the water eventually. They’ll eat birds or your pet Chihuahua or poodle. This isn’t the first time gators have attacked people. On the flip side….we’re the largest breeding ground for over 100 species of sharks too….Florida is #1 in the world for sharks.

I believe the scrubbing of the potential terrorist list contributes to Obama’s narrative. It is almost a CYA move in that if there is an Islamic terrorist event, nobody would be able to say that Obama ignored a threat. Without the list, there would be no evidence, and Obama, not being totally stupid, knew the possibilities of terrorists events and was laying his plans of denial very early in the game.
Obama knows that Islamic terrorists are spreading like cancer, and I don’t believe he cares. All he cares for his his narrative because by definition, he, Barack Obama, must be right. If you don’t believe me, just ask him.

The alligator incident at the Disney complex in Orlando is a huge tragedy. Alligators are protected to the extent that you cannot kill one that is attacking you. You are supposed to call the animal control people, and wait for them to arrive. You cannot even run over one.
If you are on a road in Florida and and hit an alligator, it is automatically your fault, and heavy fines will be imposed. The damned things are dangerous, hugely dangerous, and should be exterminated within any definition of a civilized area. Otherwise, you are just begging on someone or some pet becoming lunch for a dumb, ugly, dangerous predator.

Are you sure about the alligator thing? The Florida expert on TV said they’re overrun with alligators now and it sounded to me he wished a lot less existed than do!!
Imp or Bob: Why even allow them into these areas where people are? It sound like they can round them up pretty easily…..someone on TV suggested using wire ‘gates’ to keep them out but another person said they can get around them. Seems odd to me.
Just seems like a no brainer that in these man-made lagoons, etc., they can be kept OUT.
Of course, I’ve learned today that the waters at Disney are gov’t OWNED but not gov’t RUN, so there’s no government BLAME…. Government owned ONLY because they do draw from national rivers, streams, bays, etc…..so the waters are ‘united’ so to speak.

I’m not a tree hugger by any stretch. Nor a gator croc lover. But they do provide a valuable service to the eco system. They’ve been around 37 million years too. We’re forever reaching further and further into the everglades here and encroaching on their natural habitats. Same thing with Florida Panthers and BLACK BEARS. . At one time we would drive on Alligator Alley ( yes, that was it’s name was and still is to most down here …now considered part of I75 ) and just west of Ft. Lauderdale…about 15 miles west….civilization ended. And for the next 100 miles….nothing but open rivers of grass..the Everglades. You were warned to get gas before you crossed too. The next station going west bound was 100 miles away in Naples. No rest stops…small shoulders and two lanes. Get behind a Winnebago and you might not be able to pass for 20 minutes. And lot’s of wrecks too. It’s 4 lanes now….but the speed limit is pretty open.
Now…you go 25 miles west…and the Indians have a gas station and a huge truck stop restaurant. Right smack in the middle of what used to be wilderness.

@IMP. Agreed. We are stewards of our planet to some degree. We should see to it we don’t kill them all off. The Earth being a self-correcting system physically, and biologically means that things are kept in balance until we screw with it. I think about things being in balance a lot. Lots of moving parts.

@Z..it’s nearing the end of their mating season…late spring and they’re looking for nests and nesting places and females. We have controlled hunts by permits. Only around 5,000 or so can be taken and killed. That’s out of as population of 1.5 million or so. Here…they’re as common and as natural as a fish is. And a few years back…I ran over one on I95. Big sucker too. We don’t have “Caution Gator Crossing” signs like they do for deer…LOL

I gotta say I’m with IMP on this one. I’m not so concerned that we have a polished teleprompter Jesus representing us. I’d be more distrustful of Trump if he had someone filtering everything he said. As much as I might wince myself from time to time, I value the real.talk. Who else has even suggested we keep moslems from coming here? The FBI says they can’t tell you whether any of them are ISIS or not, and Trump hasn’t even brought that up yet. I wish he would .
I’ll take common sense given in any state of unpoiished and non-PC over anything delivered through a filter. The filter is what we’ve had up until now. And it ain’t workin. If Trump is being honest to any kind of degree and if he gets elected, 2-3 years form now, we might just all be saying “Yea, well I guess that is what was needed to break the political mold and get someone in the white house who does something that makes some sense.” Or similar.
I gotta tell you, I haven’t seen Anything happen in this country that made any kind of sense since Reagan was in the white house. I’ll take the sense if it is there, and not sweat the plumbers crack that pops out form time to time.

She is morally bankrupt. At least Trump has been addressing the problems, while “the alternative” is in denial by wanting to continue with Obama’s policies. Those are my thoughts, anyway.
