Charlotte, NC PROTESTS

What’s your take on the unrest in Charlotte?…. I can’t watch anymore.  Must it be on every single cable news show all night long?

It feels like a lot of angry people looking for a good excuse to feel powerful and tough.  I TOTALLY get really bad things happen between cops and citizens, and I am sorry that female cop didn’t tase and shot instead, but things have to change, we can’t have that happening anymore and we can’t have these ridiculous and dangerous protests anymore.

Ben Carson’s talking about “everybody getting together to talk.”   How’s that going to help? Who do you think will be come out ahead of that conversation?  One Black woman on The Kelly File reminded Americans after Carson spoke that ‘Who’s he to say anything, he’s a guy who tried to hit his mother with a hammer..’….does she know how long ago that was and what a stellar life he’s led since?  So how do we reason with that?

What are your thoughts?  HOW CAN WE COOL THINGS DOWN BETWEEN COPS AND PARTICULARLY BLACK CITIZENS?

As I’ve said hunnerts o’ times, when a stray cat comes to your back door and you give him some food and attention, you’ll have a helluva time getting rid of him. Similarly, if you give an ignorant, unemployed professional victim a microphone, you’ll have a helluva time shutting him up.

Don’t romanticize criminal behavior. Don’t give them a platform. Just report the facts: “An unruly crowd of poorly informed troublemakers vandalized businesses, obstructed traffic, and made general nuisances of themselves last night in Charlotte. Several instigators were arrested.”
    Period.

Putting vandals and racebaiters on camera just encourages them. It’s like the 2-yr-old who discovers that a screaming tantrum is very likely to get him a cookie, or ice cream, or whatever else he wants, so he pursues the ploy until he’s rewarded. Ignore him long enough and he’ll realize he’s just getting himself hot and sweaty with a sore throat and go take a nap.

Basically speaking, when a Jackson or a Sharpton or another Jackson or even a Soetoro says “We need to have a conversation about race,” what it means is “We want to tell you how it’s going to be while you sit and listen quietly . . . and take notes.”

And when a Sowell or a Williams or Cosby any other reasonable black suggests solutions such as blacks helping police reduce crime in inner cities or blacks staying in school to get some education or black teenagers not having babies until they get married or black men not fathering children they can’t support, they’re called Oreos or Uncle Toms or “big-house n——s.”

Gotta tell ya . . . as a young man I was very liberal and championed the underdog, often those friends who happened to be Mexican or black. I’ve been married to a lady for over 50 years now who is not Caucasian; our children are halo-halo, and proud of it. But those people burning and looting businesses, destroying city property, throwing rocks and bottles at LEOs . . . they ain’t scorin any style points with me, and I betcha that goes for a whole lotta folks in Flyoverland.

  2. Kid says:

Well, the blacks don’t want it to change (more of them than we think) and the democrats don’t want it to change since they love the division. I think about half the shootings I’m aware of were justified and half were just plain murder. I think any reasonable person thinks there are a lot more incidents than we know about. This will never be over.

It’s 2016 and suposedly only 10% have integrated into ‘American’ society? The rest don’t want to How many African names did you hear in 1970? I never heard a single one.

  3. Imp says:

Mustafa? Malcom X? Shanika? Devious? DeGlorious? Idiots, reprobates, irredeemables, juveniles, impressionable, unthinking, reactionary, immature, anarchists who always elevate the worst scum, felons, low life gangbangers, hoods and degenerates among them to idol / hero worship status. Freddie Gray’s, Browns, Martins…pants down don’t shoot, hands up ( a lie ) do shoot. I’ve tried but I’m over it. 8 years of basically black rule and what do we have? The 1950’s? They’ll be the same morons 100 years from now.

  4. Imp says:

“President Barack Obama dismissed the recent violence and destruction in Charlotte, North Carolina by rioters reacting to the shooting of an armed African-American man by an African-American police officer.”

    I rest my case.

  5. John M. Berger says:

“HOW CAN WE COOL THINGS DOWN BETWEEN COPS AND PARTICULARLY BLACK CITIZENS?”

I wish that I could answer that question with exactitude but I can’t.
All I can see is massive unemployment, substandard education and lack of parental guidance in these communities and the adverse results of such. Accordingly I can speculate that events we are witnessing will have a negative impact on law enforcement’s willingness to get involved in these areas. Further, law enforcement recruitment may even suffer, as well. Sorry I can’t be more optimistic.

  6. geeez2014 says:

Bocopro: You said it so well and the way it USED to be: “An unruly crowd of poorly informed troublemakers vandalized businesses, obstructed traffic, and made general nuisances of themselves last night in Charlotte. Several instigators were arrested.”

I keep watching the protesters and vandals and think “Why are we giving such credence to these people? This isn’t the way to protest and get things done!” And, they’re jeopardizing MORE lives! Well said, Boco.

Kid, I don’t think African names have helped integration but I think a LOT more than that small percentage live normal American lives….even if their names do sound like pharmaceutical products, let’s face it. A BLACK COMEDIAN once said that and I had to laugh with agreement…

Imp “They’ll be the same morons 100 years from now.” Some will…because they’re young enough to have idiotic young parents who never gave them any hope, any promise, any good advice…then we got a Black president who did ZIP to help AT ALL. The only Black teens I know are so clean cut and good and fun and smart that it’s hard for me to relate sometimes to the punks I see on TV.

JMB: That part is REALLY scary…. Finally, Harlem and other Black ghettos have gentrified a bit; are we going to go back to even worse slums? We’ve got so many kids who aren’t educated and don’t have jobs………Heck , some spokeswoman for the Black Caucus said ‘I AXED THEM’ yesterday…AXED? Has she never READ THAT WORD? that’s sad…….
You’re right. WHAT HAPPENS TO THESE KIDS ….and they’re all studying jobless majors if they are going to college…Black Studies, etc. ugh. Try to get a job!

  7. Kid says:

Z, My collegfe educatred black friend, a hard working normally smart guy said last week that obama has helped the race relations situation and he’d like obama to stay in office for 3 more terms at least. He also believes mike brown was murderd with his hands up as do most black imo.

  8. The Charlotte riots are manufactured, paid for by supporters of Hillary Clinton. The same paid agitators have shown up all over our country to stir up mobs & cause riots, looting & violence. This is all by design to prevent the poor & minorities from learning the truth about our government’s failing policies. And they don’t care who gets hurt in the process. We must end the tyranny of the far Left, they only care about retaining their power. Everyone but them & their cronies are far worse off! Hillary Clinton wants to continue with the status quo.

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-09-22/who-behind-riots-charlotte-police-says-70-arrested-protesters-had-out-state-ids

    http://dailycaller.com/2016/09/22/charlotte-naacp-president-it-really-doesnt-matter-if-he-had-a-gun-video/

Oh really? Does a man with this victim’s criminal & prison record of assault and battery with a deadly weapon have a right to have a gun? I don’t think so. I’m sick of this nonsense! Citizens who’ve been pulled over do not have the right to threaten the lives of law enforcement officers, if they do they should expect to be shot.

Read about the criminal record of this unfortunately now deceased “family man.” He assaulted children and the women in his life. And he threatened his victims while armed.

    This from another source:

“One source, who asked CTN to refrain from using her name to protect her identity, told reporters that Scott fired a handgun at San Antonio police officers when they attempted to detain him in February 2005 after noticing that he was driving erratically. (Scott had a history of drunk driving, according to court records).

Allegedly, as the officers approached Scott’s black Ford sedan, he fired two rounds from the driver’s seat and then sped away. Neither of the officers was hit, and they proceeded to give chase and detain Scott several blocks away.

While Scott did leave the gun in his passenger’s seat when he attempted to run on-foot, he did, according to our source, assault one officer by punching him in the face.

Scott was released from Texas state prison in 2011. ”

So he had a history of shooting at police officers, folks. And yet those protesting would have us believe he was not a threat and had a right to own a gun. 3 nights of rioting, looting and violence because an armed criminal refused to drop his weapon and lost his life because of his bad decision. This is just sad.

  9. Bob says:

KId has hit on something. Black people will not listen to calm and measured reasoning. They have been hearing that stuff for all their lives, and their parents lives.

Somehow we have to get past the looting and lawlessness, and address the basic problem. I have commented many times that I am sympathetic to black people who are afraid of and doubt the police, because I have seen police abusing black people before. It is nothing new. Even though most of the killings were “justified”, it is as if black people have a Pavlovian response that the deck is stacked against them now as it has been for decades and decades.

  10. Imp says:

“My collegfe educatred black friend”…is what happens when you go to colleges like Howard…..bet he believes OJ didn’t do it either.

  11. Silverfiddle says:

We have a societal issue. We are pouring garbage and sewage into our culture, no shared values or mores. Charles Murray writes about it in Coming Apart. We’ve always had our Belmonts and our Fishtowns, but what’s different now is that Belmonters actually celebrate a cleaned-up fetishization of Fishtown’s broken culture and takes not action to try to help the Fishtowners clean up their act.

We also need better police screening and training. It takes a special set of skills to be a cop–not everyone can do it. One questionable shoot, like the one in Tulsa, and the activists make it out like that’s the norm when it is not.

The other factor is George Soros money. Soros is a bat-winged international supervillain, and he is ‘investing’ his money all over the globe to sow chaos so he can profit from it.

    George Soros is Evil

  12. SF, you’ve got that right. Here we have the entertainment moguls making enormous profits from the putrefaction of America’s culture. You look at all the record companies promoting this garbage, feature film executives and investors investing in trash movies… Mainstreaming violence and disgusting behavior.

And then there’s George Soros who has wreaked economic and social disaster around the globe. It’s amazing to me that someone hasn’t put that bastard in prison or worse. He’s is absolutely pure-D evil.

  13. geeez2014 says:

Kid, I just don’t get people like your friend…and there were Black men marching at Charlotte with their hands up….it looks like the guy who got killed there DID have his hands up but there are two sides to that story, too…one of which isn’t getting as much coverage, of course.

Bob: “Black people will not listen to calm and measured reasoning. They have been hearing that stuff for all their lives, and their parents lives.” Yet, some of the most articulate, well reasoned Blacks are on FOX panels and make a lot of sense and even ridicule the crazies who are protesting. It’s fascinating to watch the CNN Black panelists vs the FOX ones….all articulate, all well educated, …but such differing viewpoint.

SF…she should never have shot….yes, ONE questionable shoot and it’s HELL TO PAY…and it’s all of law enforcement who must be shot by loons across the country……
It seems to be a badge of honor now to have no job, to complain, to whine, to live in bad areas…
“THEY DID THIS TO ME!” Ridiculous. But it gives a LOT OF POWER to their egos.

SOROS..Yes, while the media almost never mentions him and goes out of its way to insult the Koch Brothers.

  14. geeez2014 says:

FairestWitness…thanks for that background on the victim….it’s so important to view these people as PEOPLE and not SUDDEN AUTOMATIC HEROES, which they are not. But they SURE do give a lot of people a chance to feel important.

Yes, there are problems, yes, that female cop should have tased and not shot…sure….but Black America has been sold such a bill of goods and Obama’s just milking it…

Kid, to THINK your friend thinks Obama’s done ONE THING but make more Blacks feel ‘less than’ and ANGRY…it’s astonishing. Hey WAIT! I THINK Obama’s Black and made it pretty darned big (somehow)..Larry Elder’s BLACK and is Conservative, Sowell, Williams, Clarke, Carson…..WHY WHY WHY can’t more Blacks GET IT?
They’re starting to, but not enough, and probably too late………

ALSO EVERYBODY: THey can’t figure out who killed that protester in Charlotte…they don’t know if it was a cop or a protester….can’t they tell from the bullet????

I’d have thought cop bullets are obvious?

  15. Kid says:

Z, obama: the way I look at it, the Ferguson, MO type blacks are doing bad behavior, some becuase their mommy had them purely for party money from the government, some are bad people. But they knew they were doing bad behavior and weren’t rioting to avoid drawing even more attention to themselves. Ah, along comes barry and both of his AG’s who legitimize their bad behavior.. Gasoline on smoldering embers. They’ve been legitimized and they’ll not soon forget it and they are going to milk the situation for more than it is worth.

No, cops bullets are the same as anyone elses, sourced from the same suppliers.

  16. Imp says:

“I’d have thought cop bullets are obvious?”…Used to be hollow points too. But Kid’s right….40MM or 9MM, they’re all the same. Most cops today use the 40’s.

  17. Charlotte is the DNC energizing voters and increasing turnout.

  18. Z, I have an employee who is a highly-educated, wonderful woman. She’s an asset to our company and a nice person. I spend a lot of time with her every day and I enjoy it. And she happens to be black. She raised a daughter who is also highly-educated and productive. She and her daughter both have husbands who are also highly-educated and productive, law-abiding citizens. The police around here have pulled them and their husbands numerous times for no apparent reason. They were not speeding, their license plates had not expired, they were not driving erratically, they had no lights out – nothing. After they’ve pulled over the officer asks for license, insurance and registrations. These two ladies live in fear every time their husbands are late coming home from work, afraid something has happened to them. That is the flip side of this. We DO have a problem with cops pulling over law-abiding black citizens without probable cause. You’ve heard the term “driving while black?” It’s happening every day. That’s not right either.

  19. Baysider says:

    Agree with Vrag and FW.

The ‘solution’ requires thinking. Thinking turns off when 1) adrenaline turns on and 2) pre-positioned emotional responses are triggered.

  20. Sparky says:

Ok, I know I’ll draw some ire but here goes: the only way to stop anarchists is to water cannon and/or shoot them. That’s what cops used to do. Bring it back. They’re NOT protesters. They’re bad people who like to be bad. Sorry to be so brutal but it’s the truth.

  21. Silverlady says:

Well, I guess the homeys are just doing their Christmas shopping early (Black Friday, dontcha know) at the Homeboy Shopping Network. No sales taxes, no shipping, all free.

  22. Mal says:

Race relations have only worsened over the years and will continue to do so, despite our efforts. Before WW ll, very little was ever heard because Blacks and Whites lived apart in separate neighborhoods. If ever there was an incident, very little was made of it because there was no TV or 24 hour coverage of everything nationwide. As everyone keeps pointing out, if the media would take away the rioters platform, it would help tremendously……..but that ain’t gonna happen, folks. Too much $$$$$$$$ for all media and TV is no different. Blacks and Whites were more polite to one another before, also. Funny how that works, huh? give ’em a voice and things just keep getting worse.

  23. geeez2014 says:

Kid “They’ve been legitimized and they’ll not soon forget it and they are going to milk the situation for more than it is worth.”
Truer words were never spoken…that’s the exact right take, thanks for articulating it so well.

When Kaepernick gets championed for dishonoring our country and wears socks which show cops as PIGS, why should that baseball player (who actually sounded like Imp and Kid, by the way!!!…) be chastised and ridiculed??? https://www.yahoo.com/news/mariners-player-suspended-over-tweets-charlotte-protests-190059351–mlb.html

FairestWitness, I SO HOPE you never got the impression I don’t totally understand that unfairness…I couldn’t agree more that that SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. And I think once NO Blacks give cops reason to fear any more than they fear Whites, we’ll be in a better place…ALL of us, good Black folks and good White folks. Thanks, that’s an important point you made.
Tell them HI and THANKS from us.
By the way…she’s voting Clinton, right?

Baysider; sure, but that’s much easier said than done when a cop has 3 kids and a wife at home and thinks he might get blown away in two minutes… Not so easy to control emotions no matter HOW much training one has. Honestly, jobs must be really hard to get if anybody’d take a COP job, huh?!!

Sparky; I couldn’t agree with you MORE. That’s what used to happen over insurrection…why not NOW?

SIlverlady…gad!! That could be a great cartoon!

Mal, I believe the media is a HUUUUUGE part of the problem.

  24. geeez2014 says:

TED CRUZ ENDORSES TRUMP AND SOME RIGHTWINGERS ARE IN TEARS…’THERE GOES CONSERVATISM’…..Thoughts?

  25. geeez2014 says:

IMP AND KID: I burst into laughter hearing that baseball player’s tweets about the Charlotte protests…not that it was that funny, it was pretty brutal and he’s apologizing all over the place now, but I couldn’t help thinking “My GOSH, that HAS to be Kid and Imp!” Here are the Tweets in case you didn’t hear about them already:

“Black people beating whites when a thug got shot holding a gun by a black police officer,” Clevenger wrote.

“BLM (Black Lives Matter) is pathetic once again! Obama you are pathetic once again! Everyone involved should be locked behind bars like animals!”

  26. geeez2014 says:

To my Believing Christian girlfriends here at GeeeZ (that includes Scherie, Ed!): I got this email from a friend and wanted to share it:
    “Sisters,
There will be a women’s prayer for our nation simulcast tonight @ 6pm on http://www.cryout16.com if you would like to join in, or please be in prayer throughout the day for God to be merciful and grant a spirit of repentance to the lost & backslidden in our nation.”

  27. Silverlady says:

Living in Louisiana, though brought up on the East & Left Coasts (Los Angeles area, & there during the first Watts riot), born in Texas, I see a lot of blacks of all ages & types. Far & away the women are the most likely to get up in your face & be bellicose. It is a matriarchal society, & becoming more so due to the Welfare system of encouraging absentee fathers & the birthing of multiple, multiple offspring. Many of these women walk around with an invisible chip on their shoulder, but you can tell it’s there. Occasionally I’ll look at the births listed for the hospitals in Monroe, La., & at the Charity Hospital the unmarried far outnumber the married parents. Also, a large percentage of no father listed at all.

  28. geeez2014 says:

Silverlady, funny enough I just hung up the phone with a friend who I was talking to about Black relations at the High School I’m associated with…….I talked on the blog about showing a news clip of Dr King speaking in LA shortly after the Watts riots……..in one class, I REALLY let my hair down and got the kids talking…to the point where I asked if any of them (Black and white) felt uncomfortable as I talked. They said they did at first but not anymore, which thrilled me…I told them I was glad they’d felt uncomfortable…it’s important we speak openly and truthfully.
In the next class I had to show that clip to, it was more full of Black GIRLS, and I didn’t open my sweet little mouth; I let them do the talking and they were fine, but if I had said anything like I did to the class that had no Black GIRLS? HELL TO PAY…I learned that there a few years ago.
The girls are MUCH more angry and bitter.

  29. She doesn’t know who she’s voting for. She and her daughter both don’t like Hillary, they’re talking about voting for Johnson.

She doesn’t like Trump, just like a some Conservatives. She has read hit piece articles depicting Trump and his dad as racists in the 70s for supposedly discriminating against Blacks in their apartments. I don’t know it that’s true. That was almost 50 years ago, I don’t think there’s anything in the ensuing decades to demonstrate racist behavior by Trump.

I do know this woman is a fine human being, worthy of the utmost respect. And she damn sure doesn’t deserve to be profiled or pulled over for no reason. Her husband is a fine man, too. So are her daughter and son-in-law, all of them are really good people.

  30. Kid says:

Z, Thank you so much. i Do think the fact that a president and 2 federal AG’s have legitimized their bad behavior is actually a Sea Change. Not to be minimialized one bit. Remember we also had the ?baltimore? AG who stated that they let the destruction proceed unabated. Different words but that was the message.

I don’t think many people like us realize the implication of this. I think it jazzes the Africans among us to surprising levels of violence. In any case, the situation is no where near a recovery phase. It is in the escalation phase. It’s going to get much worse and it isn’t going to take long. And I don’t see a solution to it. Those who can, Arm yourselves.

  31. Imp says:

Isn’t it sad and a commentary on our azzhat POTUS when the National Guard has to come out in force when blacks “protest”? Think about it…we are back in the ’50’s with all the hate and anger that bad time represented. Ovomit…you’re a failure, a punk racist and this country would have been 50 years ahead and better off….if we never knew your bony hateful ass.

  32. geeez2014 says:

FairestWitness… Tell your friend the truth; send her this link…

Kid, I TOTALLY get your point that it’s going to get much worse…it could, but I don’t think it will. Or, let me put it this way; It’s reached a point where it COULD get better, but the Leftwinger Black Dems won’t allow it. On this kind of thing, I believe Trump could help. God willing. There needs to be talking, but not acquiescing by Whites. I’m SICK of that. There has to be honesty and a willingness by Black leaders (none of whom we know…I’m hoping some younger, brighter, more well meaning ones come forward)….

  33. Kid says:

Z, Trump or ‘someone’ could help. Present the situtation as it is. Here is what I would do… Tell these kids they were born to females that were only interested in their monetary value. This will stop. We’re not going to pay you to popo kids out like pieces of toast anymore. This is not just black girls.
2nd – we are going to hold the police accountable. They need to be held to a higher standard. Bodycams will be mandatory. If your body cam has been disabled somehow or the video removed somehow, you will be subjected to utmost scrutiny. 1st incident. 2nd incident where your bodycam was disabled. BYE. Go find work elsewhere.

Trump Could Help. Will he? I have no idea. I do know the beast will be of NO Help.

Imagine how the cops have gotten away with so much before mass video was available. I do think the % of bad cops is low single digits but I also think the number of people murdered by those bad cops is much higher than we imagine.

  34. Kid says:

Z, PS – It is going to get much worse.

I’ll bet you a lunch And a dinner over it. (And a Kiss!)

  35. geeez2014 says:

Well, well..the first time I’ve been hustled on line 🙂

  36. Kid says:

    Z, It’s just a kiss…

  37. John M. Berger says:

    @ Sparky,

“Ok, I know I’ll draw some ire ”

Well you didn’t draw any from me. I couldn’t agree with you more! Enjoy the ride and keep up the common sense that MAY save us. This from a fellow conservative [biker].

  38. Kid says:

    Sparky. Right On; fwiw

  39. geeez2014 says:

Kid, there’s no such thing as ‘just a kiss’ 🙂

    JMB….I couldn’t agree with Sparks more, either…You’re a biker, too, aren’t you!!

  40. Mal says:

Right, Z. It starts with “just a kiss”…………….;o)
