VP DEBATE…WHO WON?

What did those of you who watched the debate think of the whole thing?

yea-nea

WHO WON?  How?  Why do you think so?  Was media coverage fair afterwards (ya, right..)

Z’s observations:  Pence’s big mistake which hasn’t been mentioned for an hour since the debate finished (thank GOD) is “You keep mentioning THAT MEXICAN THING”…. I’ll be so happy if nobody else noticed that.  AND, by 12:26 EST, it was HERE!  Am I good, or WHAT?  You can’t EVER say “That Mexican thing” because, apparently, that’s a pejorative. Wait, isn’t the left a little racist for thinking that simple phrase is racist, or….??  Sounds like it to ME!

To continue:

Kaine stuck to the following Hillary memes….seemed to have memorized LOTS of the answer, and Pence didn’t seem memorized, but I can’t be sure, obviously:

Kaine spoke of :  “African Americans living in hell” as if that was wrong.  MANY African Americans ARE living in hell and I SO WISHED PENCE HAD SAID THAT!

Kaine hit Trump on dissing the military, which he has NEVER EVER DONE!

Kaine kept hitting on Trump saying Putin was a good leader..I WISH Pence had said “If one can define good leadership as standing for one’s country, not dissing it around the world and weakening it, I’d say Trump was right!”

Kaine kept mentioning the tax returns and Pence beautifully evaded that.

Kaine kept mentioning what a GREAT deal the Iran nuclear deal was, which most people know was NOT great….he said Israel praised it and I’m not sure that happened…

Kaine mentioned HRC’s “home town” being NYC, and it’s not.  It’s just NOT her home town..she was born and raised in Illinois. Period.

Kaine, and others, act as if Obama and Hillary scaled the walls and killed Obama themselves.. THEY did NOT get Obama and that stupid meme has to stop.

Kaine spent MUCH of his time making smiling doe eyes at Elaine what’s-her-name…did you notice that?  That gave me the creeps.

Pence was mostly on defense but did a spectacular job of it….Trump is VERY lucky he has him.  Pence was right about abortion, and brave to mention it, throwing in ADOPTIONS which most folks do, and that’s so important.

Pence touched me when he said how his Mom and Dad spent a lifetime building a good life and a good name.  Makes me even weepy now.  THAT is the REAL AMERICAN.

SO…thoughts?

  1. fredd says:

Didn’t watch it. Sorry. I am curious as to whose minds are changed watching these debates, veep or top of the ticket. As if a debate performance tips the tide for some brainless moron.

  2. As I said at Western Hero:
“I was (and others I was on FB with were) upset at the behavior in Kaine of talking over Pence whenever he felt like it, and the failure of the “moderator” to moderate that.
I felt it could made Pence look weak.
I would have told Kaine to shut up and be considerate of the opposing view instead of the bombastic progressive he was acting like.”
To any thoughtful person watching (us) Pence won.
As you said, “Pence was mostly on defense”.
To “fight” fans, I believe Kaine overwhelmed Pence with his consistent punching in the absence of a referee.
I doubt fight fans were watching a VP debate.
The New York home town thing struck me odd. I thought he meant DC, which was also attacked (the Pentagon which she abhors).
Trump’s home town is NYC, hers is Chataqua, or Little Rock or Chicago, or DC or wherever she’s currently carpetbagging.

  3. And the moderator was obviously told to squash any discussion of the email server or any foreign policy gaffe of Hilary. She constantly talked over Pence as he brought up the subject, reminding him of the remaining time, which was nowhere near done yet. It would have been nice if she have reminded Kane of the remaining time occasionally.

  4. Sparky says:

Golly, everything is ‘racist’ to the Far Left now (except their racism), isn’t it?!
I appreciate your analysis of the event because I doubt anyone else will have an unbiased view of it, not even Fox. So, that said, we didn’t watch it. These things are not really debates anymore. Kaine gets on my nerves because he seems irreverent and clownish. Somehow that fits in with the Demoncrat ticket.

  5. Silverfiddle says:

I didn’t watch it, but I see the Leftwing Outrage Machine is billowing black smoke over the “Mexican thing.”

I heard some excerpts on the radio, and they were hard to understand with the moderator constantly yapping over Pence’s remarks, which he was trying to get out of Kaine barking over him. What a crapfest. Seems to me the uptake is Pence came across professional and polite against two opponents.

  6. Kid says:

Ben Netanyahu came to the Confgress and talked for a qhile about how the Iran deal was a horribly bad deal…..

  7. Kid says:

PS – What Fredd said. I can’t imagine the brain of the person who watches a debate in order to make a decision on who to vote for…

  8. bunkerville says:

Too bad Pence isn’t at the top of the ticket. An easy win for us.

  9. FB says:

Didn’t watch it but Kaine is a phony commie pig who’d love to live in luxury. That’s how I see him. I loathe his type.

  10. FB says:

He’s the new Howard Dean. Basically another crazy man.

  11. geeez2014 says:

fredd, I can’t imagine being so UNinterested not to at least watch..but I guess that’s not an opinion shared by some of you and I wouldn’t make a judgment on that. I’m just a curious person and want to see what happens… I’m always surprised when people aren’t interested in how they do, their personalities, what points they can make, but “to each his own!”

Ed, Kaine insinuated Trump and Clinton’s hometown was the same when he made that point; they’re not. I agree that the moderator barely, if ever, told Kaine his time was up. Kaine just kept making eyes at her as the signal, apparently, that he must talk again, or to shut Pence up.

SF…as I said in my post, that MEXICAN THING stuck out at me and I thought “UHOH, that’s going to be the headline” and voila.

Sparky “Clownish” is the perfect word for Kaine…he’s always like that. Trump very stupidly apparently tweeted that Kaine looks like the evil guy in Batman, or something like that, and I haD to laugh because he was right. Although he must stop this ridiculous name calling.
Gad, I can’t STAND Trump, the most unprofessional, thin skinned CHILDISH candidate this country’s EVER HAD.

Kid, that’s what I THOUGHT! THere was Kaine last night saying how the Israelis appreciated the Iraq nuke deal…unreal.

Bunkerville, i was thinking the same thing.

  12. FB says:

Creepy Clown is a nice way to describe Kaine.

  13. FB says:

And for me he’s another catholic marxist, the type that ruins spirituality and transforms the message of the Bible into a materialistic one. I’ve had enough of his type in France.

  14. geeez2014 says:

SF…thanks for that link…this is so true ” (Kaine) trying to load so many Trump attacks into every answer that it made it virtually impossible to grasp any one attack.” It was comical to see Kaine try to load every single thing he could into every response………

I thought Quijana did the oddest job I’ve seen in a debate…they’d be in a big conversation on one subject and she’d try to “Bring it back to N Korea”….which might have been the original question but it was so jarring to be reminded of that that she should have done some segues that ‘healed’ the difference in where they started to where they were going. Kind of laughable. They’re blaming her for having lost control in quieting the candidates but I don’t see how she could have done that better…she did what anybody could do. Anyway, that’s how I saw it.

  15. John M. Berger says:

Kaine’s snarky, rude misrepresentation of Donald Trump should energize and encourage the Shrillary DemocRATS. As for the undecided, many of whom fall into the low-information category, all we can hope for is Kaine’s obtrusive demeanor served as a turn-off. Pence’s genteel presentation of the actual facts, concerning the myriad of problems that we face, exacerbated by the current Administration, will have little influence outside of those already supporting Trump. Overall I see little impact as a result of this debate.

  16. geeez2014 says:

FB..good take on his Catholicism remarks……….
The point Pence made about a country being judged by how it treats its most vulnerable was EXTREMELY COURAGEOUS…but anachronistic in America today, sadly…….

I liked when Pence stressed adoption instead of abortion… He was QUITE brave talking about this subject in the depth he did.

Am watching CNN and hearing them say “Trump hasn’t done a press conf. in 2 months” I have to laugh since they rarely nailed Hillary for not having done one in NINE MONTHS 🙂 SO funny!
And Carol Costello’s hilarious…..her tone of voice, so whiny and obsequious just cracks me up.

EVERYBODY: CNN IS REPORTING TRUMP ISN’T HAPPY WITH PENCE BECAUSE PENCE DID SO MUCH BETTER THAN HE HAD AND BECAUSE PENCE APPARENTLY DIDN’T STICK UP FOR HIM AS MUCH AS HE COULD HAVE (He couldn’t have, by the way, he did what any decent person could do and would have jeopardized his values, career and sanity had he really stood up for anybody like Trump…I will never understand what Trump could have done or said to get Pence to support him)

Trump didn’t Tweet anything negative on Pence, did he? The only person saying the Trump slamming Pence?

  17. geeez2014 says:

USA TODAY is asking “IS it ETHICAL not to vote THIS year”….get the hint? “THIS YEAR”, Particularly THIS YEAR….hint hint

This happens every voting year…the Left wants you to VOTE! it’s important you VOTE! But you know they would so rather you didn’t vote if you’re not going to VOTE LEFTWING! The guy on CNN this minute’s talking about Blacks who died during Jim Crow, so they must vote (never mind that Republicans fixed that awful problem), etc etc. Well, you know how many Blacks vote Republican, but I’m SURE the CNN guy MEANS to vote for EITHER Dem or Rep! JUST VOTE! What a laugh!!!

  18. FB says:

Did they ask him why he didn’t vote to oppose Obama’s veto on the “Saudi 9/11” bill?

  19. geeez2014 says:

FB….that bill, in my opinion, was a disaster. Imagine every country with a dead person due to us suing us? This is the only bill I ever agreed with Obama on, by the way, I’m pretty sure of that.

  20. geeez2014 says:

My favorite Pence line was something like “The reason people don’t trust Hillary Clinton is because they’re PAYING ATTENTION”….very effective innuendo there!

  21. FB says:

True but the mere fact he didn’t even vote showed what a coward and loser he is.

  22. geeez2014 says:

    FB….Kaine didn’t even vote?

  23. fredd says:

Z: I know a great deal about each of these guys; I used to live in VA (Manassas) and am familiar with that lying piece of feces Kaine, head of the ‘Jack-Catholic’ Association. I also am a die hard conservative and recall vividly Mike Pence always fighting the good fight as a God fearing Congressman from Indiana for a number of years, and a member of the GOP leadership team in the House.

I already knew what each of these guys was going to say: Kaine, lie like a dog, carry the liberal philosophy’s water. Pence, promote the conservative agenda. And that CBC moderator Elaine what’s-her-face would try to make Pence look bad at every turn.

How far off was I, knowing that I didn’t watch even a pathetic second of this debate? Why on earth would I waste a precious second of my life sitting and listening to what I already know will happen?

  24. geeez2014 says:

fredd, I don’t feel I wasted my time, but you’re entitled to feel that way! I like the suspense to see what’s going to happen next….I like seeing a little more of the personality that we can’t know.

EVERYBODY: PENCE IS ALLLL OVER THE GREATNESS OF TRUMP RIGHT NOW AS HE’S SPEAKING IN VIRGINIA…….GUSHING OVER TRUMP RIGHT NOW EVEN MORE THAN I’VE HEARD HIM DO BEFORE….Obviously, that’s his job, but I’m thinking it might be true that Trump was unhappy with last night, that HE wasn’t the BIG WHEEL in the conversation….

Obama is now saying “This is a serious storm”…I’m so glad to have a president that smart, aren’t you? (Smile)

  25. Kid says:

Z, I don’t watch democrats on TV because I have loaded guns in the house.

  26. Adrienne says:

Please add to your list the complete lie of Kaine when he said the Catholic Church opposes the death penalty. That is absolutely not true, but not unexpected from a “good” Catholic who also stated that the Church would change it’s stance on homosexual “marriage.” No it won’t.

All you need to know about Kaine’s faith is that he was in Honduras with the Jesuit liberation theology Marxist priests who, I might add, were ordered to return by the Pope and quit their politicking. Horrible bunch of subversives.

    http://www.catholic.com/blog/tim-staples/the-church-and-capital-punishment

Abortion? It’s sad that Pence is better at defining and supporting Catholic teaching than someone who considers himself a “staunch” Catholic.

  27. Mal says:

We watched it in its entirety and felt Pence won, hands down. Kaine kept interrupting but stuttered. It appeared he was given a laundry list of things to say and inserted them even if it didn’t fit the topic at that moment. He was definitely the weaker debater. I will add the two looked more presidential than the presidential debaters. Pence didn’t bite all the stuff being thrown at him like Trump keeps doing and that worked in his favor. That’s why he let it go and instead hit back with Hillary’s weaknesses, which we know are plenty!

  28. geeez2014 says:

Adrienne, You’re totally right on Kaine’s Marxist leanings,. i.e. ANTI AMERICAN TO THE CORE.
Kaine sure did a great job lying and I’m not hearing any Catholics correcting that… well, that or so many other things. Thanks for that input.

Mal, it was so clear Kaine had memorized and memorized, as had Hillary…no way that’s not true… Seems that Trump might be upset that Pence fared so much better; Trump needs to GROW UP.

  29. Bob says:

I did the right thing last night by pouring a glass of bourbon and reading a book rather than watching the debate. I understand Pence looked pretty good.

I am restricted to a cheap tablet computer since I spilled water on my Dell and it is going to the factory for repair. These tiny keyboards are just a pain.

  30. geeez2014 says:

AOW, I have heard about that creepy clown appearing all over the country and actually DID have that thought as a joke, but…. 🙂

Bob, I’ll never figure out anybody not having the curiosity to see men who could be leading our country talking, sharing exchanges showing ideology and personality, but I’m glad you enjoyed your bourbon! 🙂 By the way, I happen to know you can do a drink AND watch the debate! AND read a book at the same time!

  31. Mal says:

Z, why do you say Trump might be upset Pence did so well? I didn’t get that impression. He seemed happy with his performance. Whatever it is, I must’ve missed it.

  32. geeez2014 says:

Mal…I didn’t say that, the news was reporting it this morning. I don’t think they know what they’re talking about it, but there it was on the news.
Then when I heard Pence this morning GLOWING about Trump, and Trump in NV GLOWING about Pence,I figured it might be true and they didn’t want folks to have that impression!
I didn’t know that except from news reportage.

EVERYBODY: A dear friend’s home on Atlantic Beach, Fla. is in the path of the hurricane and she and her husband can’t get there to BOARD THINGS UP…they’re out of town! She lost her folks some years back so that house is holding all her family’s very special nostalgia….PLEASE PRAY HER HOUSE IS SPARED! Thank you!

  33. FB says:

    AOW, great cartoon.

  34. geeez2014 says:

JMB is right when he said “Kaine’s snarky, rude misrepresentation of Donald Trump should energize and encourage the Shrillary DemocRATS”

BUT, JOhn,, BUT..I had that same feeling AND was thinking “That attitude of Kaine’s is going to energize independents against him because he’s SO much like Shrillery……”
Know what I mean? Indies don’t seem to cater to SNARK!
(Sorry I hadn’t seen your comment till now…sometimes I’m writing one at the same moment others are and I don’t realize there was a comment above mine!

  35. FB says:

Kaine represents the socialist bourgeoisie that is corrupt, loves luxury and money and thinks they know more than the people. Basically a new aristocracy which I hope people will revolt against.

  36. Bob says:

Z: Watching the replays lets me do so semi-objectively. I hate these debates because the Democrats never show any manners, and I detest people who talk over others.

  37. Kaine’s behavior last night cause the one dyed-in-the-wool Democrat in the homeschool group to say to me, “I’m starting to rethink whether or not I can vote for Hillary Clinton.”

You see, this man — my age — has had serious health issues (a stroke followed by a heart attack — and is of the opinion that it is quite likely that Hillary might die during her first term. He says, “I see the signs.” Interesting, huh?

  38. Kid says:

I pray that it happens before the first term.

  39. geeez2014 says:

AOW,,, WOW, that is interesting…doctors who’ve commented about her health have been quickly silenced….I can’t imagine any woman THAT intent on ANYTHING that she’d risk her health and that of her country to do something so stupid as to take this job knowing she’s so ill.
Did you see that info regarding how there’s a swanky clinic in Chelsea’s building? Where HIllary can see docs, get pills, and nobody gets the records. Some think she went to that floor instead of Chelsea’s…..what grandma plays with tiny children knowing she has PNEUMONIA?

  40. John M. Berger says:

“You see, this man — my age — has had serious health issues (a stroke followed by a heart attack — and is of the opinion that it is quite likely that Hillary might die during her first term.”

Let’s hope that happens before she gets there! Sorry, those of you who feel above such a comment but I don’t care!
