Money will buy clothes…..but not character

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”  2 Corinthians 5:17

Money will buy a house…but not a home

“Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it;”  Psalm 127: 1-2

Money will buy medicine….but not health

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”   1 Corinthians 10: 31

Money will buy a crowd….but not friendship

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Proverbs 27:17

Money will buy cosmetics…but not beauty

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.”  Proverbs 31:30

Money will buy relaxation…but not contentment

“Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.”  Philippians 4:11

Money will buy entertainment…but not happiness

“Delight yourself also in the LORD: and he shall give you the desires of your heart.”  Psalms 37:4

Try FAITH.  It helps 🙂

“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”  James 1:6

OH, were it that simple.

Have a fabulous Sunday…. think about faith, remember how much God loves you….more than we could EVER know.

  1. Rev Levon Yuille (http://www.biblechurchypsi.org/About-Us.html) was on the radio wondering how many churches gave thanks last Sunday for the deliverance of the last election.
I co-hosted a radio show yesterday where the subject of prayer influencing the election came up.
My Co-host is not “religious”, but he admitted to praying through the night, and others did too.

AMEN! That’s lovely Z. Well done. I pray someone who is lost reads those verses and wants to be saved because of it. Let’s pray that will happen, for their sake.
One evening at Bible Study, my teacher brought forth the verse above, “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Proverbs 27:17 Until recently, I never realized how important that verse is. I’m trying to surround myself with edifying people so that my life will improve. I have so much work to do on myself. I’m thankful that God is patient, merciful and understanding of all my failings.
    Hope your day is blessed!
    Luv & Prayers ~:)

Sparky’s “I have so much work to do on myself”…………AMEN! Don’t we all! I know I have been a work in progress since leaving the womb and will continue being till I’m playing a harp in heaven.

Great quote. And this fits well with Matthew 8-9 that we are studying now. Jesus didn’t want a crowd following Him for entertainment because the work He does is on our heart. Healing miracles will get a lot of followers, but only part of them came by faith.

    Fairest Witness…WOW “Pastor Z”…there’s a new one 🙂
I did get the list given to me some weeks ago, the phrases in bold, but I added Bible verses because I figured we could use the encouragement and clarification.
    Thanks!

Baysider…and, according to Luther, if the good works are not ALL by faith, they’re useless.

Sparky, I almost used the IRON one for friendship…thanks!

    Mal..agreed!

    Ed..thanks!

    All great verses. Thanks.

I read them thinking of my young niece on the West Coast. She has mismanage her life to the point of losing her job, running out of money, spurning our offers of help, only to claim that she will be homeless and uncared for. It looks like a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point. I ask you to pray for our niece to find peace in this world, and to find her place in it, or, at least to accept the help we offer.

Bob,is she in LA? Do you know where she is? I wish I could help somehow. I’m so sorry about this…I will keep her in prayer….can you tell us her first name?
Beautiful that you’re offering help…are her parents involved, too?

Why is it that happens, Bob? I don’t know which is worse, a person who is in constant need who takes help and won’t even try to take care them self or one that needs help but refuses it?
Or like the old saying goes, “A friend in need…………” (is a pain in the ass!).

Z: She is in LA, and she has seemed to have averted catastrophe. She’s OK, right now, but somehow she needs a dose of reality to get her life back together. There are lots of us trying to work with her, but she seems to have the “poor me’s” . I know tough love is needed, but after all, she is my niece and I don’t want to hurt her..

Bob, let’s just pray she gets over the POOR ME’S…that’s SO self defeating, you’re right. LA’s a big place; I guess you don’t know exactly what section, and that’s fine…just wish I could help. But, I need to learn to STAY OUT OF IT, too…even if she IS your niece. xx

Bob, I have so many friends with someone like your niece in their family. You want to help, but can’t. Its frustrating when you feel helpless to do anything for them.
