Chip and Joanna Gaines…HATEFUL CHRISTIANS?

EVERYONE better darn well follow the gay, leftwing agenda or you lose your gig.   Or they’ll try to get you thought of as a bigot, a hateful person….that’s the ‘open minded left’ for you!!  imagine?

fixer-upper

Did you hear about Joanna and Chip Gaines of “Fixer Upper,” the HGTV show which focuses on home remodels in and around Waco, Texas?  They apparently have the nerve to attend a CHURCH whose PASTOR upholds the BIBLE’s view on homosexuality!  🙂  So, they’re basically being threatened for their pastor’s beliefs.   Wait, didn’t Obama get an ‘all clear’ because he said he had never heard his pastor/friend Jeremiah Wright slam this country in real unbecoming terms even when we heard Wright did that on a regular basis?  Ya, Obama did get a pass.

So why the Gaines’?  They aren’t hateful!  And if you asked that pastor if he hated homosexuals, he’d say he loves all people but only speaks up for the Bible….it’s his JOB.

Check out this paragraph from THIS ARTICLE ON THE GAINES’ SITUATION:

“But at this point, I’m not any more ready to connect thus far invisible dots between what Seibert has preached to the Gaineses than I am to condemn Obama for being seen in the same church as Jeremiah Wright. But you can bet that if Fox News is going to use this same reasoning to defend the Gaineses, I’m going to point out the hypocrisy of the network attacking Democrats who might attend church services in which radical clerics sometimes speak.”

Wait..WHAT??..Jeremiah Wright was the pastor, he WAS the ‘radical cleric’ and he spoke every week.  What the heck?   And here’s more that not only bothered me in the article, but bothered me when Megyn Kelly hammered how the pastor’s antigay remarks shouldn’t be put on the Gaines’; I kept thinking “Those aren’t the pastor’s remarks, they’re GOD’S remarks…and he never said he hated gays, he only stands by Scripture!”

Here’s what the author of the linked article said:

“Kelly’s argument is essentially that you can’t accuse the Gaineses of being antigay just because their pastor has made antigay remarks.”   It’s their RIGHT to feel as they do, it’s not hateful, they’re not hurting anyone, they just believe in the Bible!

What do you think?

ALSO:  PLEASE PLEASE pray for my friend’s breast cancer surgery this afternoon L.A. time…..pray for wisdom for the doctors, for peace for her and her family…for excellent results.  You’d LOVE HER and she’s in trouble.  Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

For perhaps the gazillioneth time on this general subject, lemme say that I believe that people and societies which follow a moderate and reasonable religion are happier and more productive than those who follow none or radical ones.

Speaking as a non-practicing baptized Christian who’s been to well over a dozen foreign countries, I’ve found that moderate, reasonable Christians tend to be better friends, better neighbors, better citizens, and better parents than people who believe only in science or self or gubmint. (The sole exception to that observation would be Japan, and that’s iffy in some cases.)

I’m gonna go with what Mother had to say on this. She was a poor, sickly country girl who never set foot in a church in her entire 90 years except for weddings, funerals, and the occasional civic event. Whenever the topics of gangs, crime, drugs, rape, and even rap “music” came up, she’d always say the same thing: “Our troubles got out of hand when they kicked God out of the classroom.”

Christians go to church willingly, happily, hopefully. They come out with their friendship reservoirs refilled and their attitudes spiffied up. Muslims, for example, go to mosque out of fear and come out paranoid, aggressive, brainwashed.

I liked it better when people got dressed up and went to church on Sunday, sat around a table for a family meal, and actually listened to each other speak (although as a kid, I mostly listened). I’m not entirely sure that playing golf or watching football or sleeping in are good alternatives to all that.

And I see absolutely nothing wrong with a non-denominational benediction before school board meeting or a school ball game or a school celebration. Anyone who can’t keep his mouth shut for a few seconds while others pray or recite the pledge or sing the national anthem should have his tongue pulled out and nailed to his forehead.

Bocopro…sorry, I won’t stop blogging when I see stories like this. I believe it’s a threat to all Americans. Your input is uplifting! I often say “It used to be ‘there’s that family on our street who doesn’t go to church’….now it’s ‘there’s that family that goes to church’!” …
Nobody who doesn’t find the right church can ever know the astonishing pleasure of one OR be ridiculed for not going to church! That’s ridiculous. And this story is more just simply about people being slammed for their beliefs. The article I posted isn’t the only article on this situation of the Gaines’. They deserve to do ANYTHING they want to do and not be insulted or shut down for it.

CI, It’s my belief that nobody should be ridiculed or threatened because of their religious beliefs unless those beliefs include beheadings, insurrection, etc. ….HGTV did let go a couple of young Christian men who were outspoken in their views but, so far, the Gaineses have only been put down for the beliefs of their pastor :

  7. Z- It’s my belief that nobody should be ridiculed or threatened because of their religious beliefs……

I agree. But it’s also a free market decision if a media outlet wants to cater to a specific or a larger demographic, since their aim is profit, not equality of exposure.

It becomes a function of government when a government office takes time, effort or resources to acknowledge a religious faith in the course of it’s duty….especially if it’s not remotely connected to any acitivty involving a belief system.

  8. I meant to add that since I like the show in question, I’ve looked through the couple of articles that have been published recently, and haven’t seen any indications of being “threatened”, which is why I asked.

CI, and I’m telling you there is precedence for this….I linked to it. So far, the Gaineses are only being ridiculed. I find that unsettling in a democratic country.

So, I’m not sure but I think you’re suggesting HGTV caters to gays? Really?
Nobody’s mentioned government here…they’re no way involved in this.

CI: As Z says, there is a precedent for this. The leftwing progs are trying to “out” them, with the result being they lose their TV show, because in Left Kookville, where the Progs reside, you can’t give such haters a public platform.

This is quite simply, Cultural Enforcement Brownshirts, submitting the heretics to public autos de fe… It’s not enough to simply keep quiet, be polite and stay out of it. The left wants your conscience, which they declare you have no right of privacy to. Chip and Joannes Gaines’s show is about fixing up houses, not religion, but that doesn’t matter to the progressive inquisition.

  11. I was asking because you stated that they “were being threatened”. I think HGTV caters to a wider audience, not to gays specifically.

CI: Yes indeed, and what you said does not distract from my point. In fact, I think this case is different. Here’s why:

Some religious conservatives 20 years ago protested shows they believed were proselytizing an alternative lifestyle. The shows portrayed gay people living normal lives. I don’t have a problem with it (I actually like Ellen DeGeneres), but the protesters had something concrete to point to.

In this case, it is a show about fixing up houses, and the stars do not preach their religion. Leftwing haters are going after them because they attend a traditional, mainstream Christian church with traditional teachings from the Bible.

    This is an important distinction.

  15. Your distinction is noted, but the efforts on the right are ongoing….not just 20 years ago. Take “One Million Moms” as but one example.

It is the intention of this that bothers me. It has nothing to do with gay or non gay. Rather another attempt to divide us and pit one against another. Mission achieved. We have our knickers in a knot. As I said at my place, I will let God make the judgement.

  18. Silverfiddle says:

CI: OK, I had to go google “one million moms” because I have never heard of them. I am pretty unplugged from pop culture.

Once again, there is a distinction with a big difference. Put aside their protests against “anti-Christian” programs and lets focus on their protests against “indecency” which includes creeping sexuality into children’s programming. I noticed it on “childrens” channels like Disney, and I’m sure you have as well. It’s not appopriate.

So, aside from their anti-Christian protests, One Million Moms are fighting indecency that even atheists such as yourself don’t want peddled to your children. Now, “indecency” is in the eye of the beholder, and I am a believer in turning off the TV if it offends or is inappropriate, but this group is fighting indecency purveyed to millions of Americans.

The leftwing fascists attacking Chip and Joanna Gaines with the hope of getting their show cancelled and not doing so because of anything contained in their TV show. They are doing it because of their personal beliefs which they do not preach on their show.

That is an important distinction, that all rational people can recognize, but unhinged leftists cannot. They display a chilling mindset right out of Pol Pot’s Cambodia, albeit without the genocide. The leftwing fascists are incapable of leaving people alone and granting us all the privacy of our own consciences.

CI and SF…I never saw an anti-gay Christian boycott 20 years ago…My only thoughts on that is I wish a gay character in a TV show wasn’t always portrayed as some kind of overly effeminate, overly generalized exaggeration of most homosexuals.

what IS “One Million Moms’ ? Sorry…..it can’t be that widespread.
SF..if they’re objecting to creepy child sexuality, they have One Million and ONE MOM now.

As a Christian I believe that homosexual liaisons are wrong. My son was gay, and if he had lived, I would have told him the same thing even while defending his right to marry a man. I don’t believe marriage or any other institution is at risk because of homosexuality. It’s married people who make a mockery of marriage.

The pseudo-journalist that writes against the Gaines show is just looking for some way to get clicks on their website. The only way they can do this is by promoting controversy. If this causes more discussions of the issue, fine. The subject deserves more discussion.

By the way, the Gains show, Fixer Upper is a GREAT show. Chip’s amateur antics are kind of charming, and Joanna is the one with the brains. It is one of the few shows that my wife and I both like. As a matter of fact, HGTV (call it Hog TV) was our go-to network while Hillary was running for President. The show took us away from having to watch Hillary. God bless the Gaines.

Yes, it’s about clicks…and that’s so sad because it promotes even MORE division and, frankly, lies. “fake news”.

I don’t believe marriage is at risk because of homosexuality, either, though I don’t believe the term MARRIAGE can be used by any couple but a man and a woman. I think this goes way beyond just trying to divide. It’s a full frontal assault on Christians to marginalize and push us beyond the peripheral vision of the leftist media. They are driven by hate of our ‘leader’ and since they can’t get to Him, they take it out on anyone associated with Him. Yeah, I saw that: Obama marinated in Wright’s hate speech for 20 years. True hate speech – quite different from disagreeing about moral boundaries you don’t want.

Just not realistic; I don’t believe most people understand you don’t just go in swinging and get things to go our way. If they listened to his words and heard his explanations, it’d go far.

And ya, Obama’s been MUCH harder on Christians, and Whites, than he has on any Muslim, that is FOR SURE. I remember when the media was harping on the Obamas about what church they were going to attend once the inauguration was over…they said they’d see. My feeling is I don’t care if a pres goes to church or not but they said themselves they’d be looking…..the only churches they have attended are on holidays and they are what’s called a “traditionally black church” (instead of the media saying a biased black church, of course)….Plus, they say “they go to church at Camp David…” Anybody EVER hear of him at Camp David? He apparently went about 40 times….in 8 years.

Baysider, this full-on assault has gone on WAAAY before Trump, but it’s certainly not going away….let’s see what Trump does about it…he’s said he would.
