Christmas Prayer for Calm

Feeling stressed this last few days before Christmas?  Are things getting to you as there are fewer days left to do a lot?  I hope this helps!

Lord, the years have shown us all that, sometimes, holidays can include challenges with family personalities, cooking, shopping/wrapping, busy-ness, etc., and so we ask you to bring us all back to YOU, to remember YOU are who we’re celebrating, to remember that keeping that in our hearts and minds will bring us back to our centers, where the Holy Spirit dwells and keeps the best in us glowing.  Let our families see that glow, let it affect our moods as we handle all the busy-ness, let our expectations this Christmas be concentrated on the expectation of YOU, where we are NEVER disappointed or overwhelmed.  Amen”

I wrote that prayer for my Comm. Bible Study core group that I lead and thought of sharing it here…I think we can all use it.   I hope you, or someone you feel could use it, are blessed by it.

Z, please pray for me as this is my first Christmas without my beloved husband and best friend who lost a 5 month battle with leukemia on Oct 27. I…am…floundering. My only solace is that I KNOW where he is and I WILL see him again…Merry Christmas to you and your readers!!!

Lovely prayer Z. Well done. We truly must stay focused on Christ. Our lives need to be all about Him.
Merry CHRISTmas my friend. May the LORD bless and keep you. ~:)

  3. Excellent.
In the days leading to the Christmas shutdown of the plant, things just get more crazy, hectic and stressful as we struggle to keep everything running to avoid production working the holidays.
And scheduling all the manpower and materials for maintenance to WORK the holidays.
I need the calm of that prayer.

Sue…Hanes? Whoever this SUE is, I am so sorry for your loss…the first ‘anythings’ are the roughest…they get easier, but I wish I could say I haven’t shed a tear this year for my husband who i’m celebrating the 7th Christmas without. God be with you.

Sparky, that prayer came out so quickly I had a hunch it wasn’t ME. God bless you, too.

Ed..I’m so glad this prayer might help. Blessings to you during this difficult time.

FOX’s hosts are saying MERRY CHRISTMAS this week…kind of feels good.
Am putting my feet in Jewish shoes and thinking “I’m good with that, it IS Christmas, so why not? This isn’t against ME as a Jew!”

Am I being naive? I think not. MY Jewish friends couldn’t care LESS…Prager and Medved are some of THE strongest Christmas supporters EVER.

Meanwhile, a U of Kentucky professor teaching in China has been divested of his job and honors and other things are being stripped from him for using I WISH THEY ALL COULD BE CALIFORNIA GIRLS in his translation lessons for Chinese…..Kentucky’s saying he’s a SEXIST for using those words.

WHAT THE?????? Mention CUTE GIRLS and BIKINIS and now we’re SEXISTS?

I’m SO proud that celebs are turning down Inauguration entertainment….who’d want to think like THEY DO? It also shows they have NO respect for the office but must have THEIR WAY.
I’m so hoping he gives up on the libs and concentrates on inviting those mostly C&W stars who supported him.

  7. Mal says:

Its the ultimate hypocrisy, Z They get all worked up about such mundane, silly things yet are silent when people open their garbage mouths with all the four lettered words and other things we see on T.V. which even only a few years ago wouldn’t be shown.

  8. Baysider says:

I love the decorations and things bake to make the holiday festive. Having seen my doctor yesterday, I am reminded that “clutter” and “disorganization” (and sugar) can really elevate your stress levels, and cortisol. (So that’s why I feel soooo calm when I housesit a neighbor’s cat in her very spare and tidy apartment!) I think we kind of expect or accept some level of this at Christmas, but dialing it back has helped me this year. As I am closing on a very hostile escrow right now, one that has been full of lies, manipulation, threats, and finger pointing, I’ve just put up my one little tree decoration to enjoy its festive bright lights, and left all the other “stuff”in storage.

Let’s also pray for all the churches and other Americans threatened or targeted by Islamic radicals.

I wrote in my Christmas letter about “a quiet place of reflection on the magnitude of Jesus’ purpose.” And, yes, staring down a very hostile escrow officer it helped me to tune her out for a moment and shift back to Jesus and remember with gratitude that I am a child of the King and have all His blessings!

Ed, Sue and Z, and AOW – all with especial challenges and memories now, just I pray for blessing for you now. We have a Lord who has “kept count of my wanderings. Put my tears in your bottle.” Ps. 56:8

Mal and Baysider, thanks for both your comments…well said.
Happily, I will have a wonderful Christmas…I still have moments, but the very happy memories, while they bring tears, also fill the heart….

Dial it back, or don’t……..but don’t put ALL the expectations in THE DAY, as I wrote the other day; spread it out…enjoy every day of the Advent season…….and put Jesus at the top of the “Why I celebrate Christmas list!” 🙂

By the way….I was just at a swanky restaurant and the grocery store and everybody’s saying MERRY CHRISTMAS …it’s almost shocking. WONDERFULLY shocking.
I had one waiter say “Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah!” LOVED IT! WHY NOT!?

A wonderful prayer. For those away from home and family a difficult time of year. Let us pray for Donald J Trump who just supported Israel by calling the Egyptian President who withdrew his resolution at the U.N. which would have been detrimental to Israel. One last blast Obama was planning to do to our friends.

  12. geeez2014 says:

BUnkerville…I hadn’t heard that…HURRAH! Gee, someone standing up for Israel from America? TIE ME DOWN 🙂
I”m glad you like the prayer………….it came to me so suddenly and completely and I thought “I need to share this one!”
    Blessings! Z
