It’s NEW YEAR’S EVE!

Tell us what you hope to see in 2017….politically, or in your own life, or culturally in America, faith-wise, anything that comes to mind……

Are you looking forward to 2017?  Do you think big changes will take place?  How was 2016, in your opinion?

2017-peace

I saw this image above and thought “this so appeals to me…the PEACE is so beautiful and good.”   I guess I’d have to say I wish for less tumult in our country this coming year…but….

                                   Do you have a 2017 WISH?  Or Resolution?

Let’s hear it!

    I foresee a very schizophrenic year with many false starts and much frustration for the Trump administration. Media will remain hostile and pounce self-righteously on anything which doesn’t dovetail with their leftist propaganda. Much “I toldjaso” spewing from MSNBC, ABC, and CNN.

    Vicious, narrow-minded left-wing senators will rigorously oppose his SCotUS choices, and a few of his cabinet nominees will face some very heavy sledding before confirmation. Most will get through the obligatory hand-wringing and breath-holding by the Whinocrats, tho.

    Handling of illegal immigration will eventually turn into a Keystone Kops comedy routine with confusing double standards, reversals, and funding problems. Many habitual/repeat Latino offenders will be made to go away, but the overall percentage will be almost insignificant, nowhere near the 11 million or so here without authority.

    Many Owebummer EOs will be rescinded, but the ACA will remain largely intact because no viable replacement yet exists. Sadly, courts will allow continued influx of suspicious Muslim males, the US will remain in the UN, church attendance will continue to decline, Iran will continue building its “death to Israel” nukes, and Saudi Arabia will fail to join the rest of the world in the 3rd millennium, preferring to remain a 7th century anachronism in perpetuity.

    Tax reform will happen, but complex deduction and other confusing escape mechanisms will remain for the very rich who can afford expensive lawyers. Virtually nothing will happen to prevent continued rise in the national debt, and interest rates will rise along with inflation.

    A few manufacturing jobs will return from offshore, but the grandiose campaign promises of so much success that we’ll get tired of it will never materialize. Business and manufacturing will see an uptick, but not a revival. Growth will be somewhere around 1 to 1.5%, not the 4 or 5% he touted at his rallies.

    My hope is that PC will be allowed to die an ignominious death and that young people will stop worshipping Beyonce’s butt, and knock off the whiney “safe space” travesty. It’d be nice if people abandoned the habit of deifying athletes and other entertainers.

    Also I’d very much like to see straightforward speech return;
    marriage defined as the union of one man and one woman;
    transgenderism relegated to quiet and private corners;
    BLM banned (along with rap “music”);
    hypocrisy replaced by mea culpa;
    millennials stop permanently decorating their hides with graffiti they’d never hang on their walls AND stop suspending bits of geologic materials from ANY of their lips, ears, eyebrows, noses, and navels;
    people get a grip on their finances;
    the federal gummint get out of states’ rights bidness;
    and the 535 members of Congress remember that they are temporary employees hired to serve the people, not the other way around.

    Personally, I’m starting out another year ambulatory, self-sufficient, energetic, happily married, and debt free. I hereby resurrect my 2016 resolution to lose 10 pounds, which means I have only 15 pounds to go.

My fervent desire would be for the left and the right, to embrace political reason and ration, and quit allowing “political correctness”, base emotion and ignorance rule the day; but, cable media outlets, as well as those catering overtly to political parties, will continue to spew falsehoods…..and only one’s ‘opposition’ will be questioned.

    I am not optimistic for 2017……the political theater will continue to erode our Republic, and the electorate will continue to descend into ignorance. I continue to prepare for the eventual collapse.

    Personally, things are looking up in 2017, when my wife and I will become first time grandparents (due sometime mid-April). We have 3 boys (its the middle one and his wife who are expecting)… so a boy OR a girl will be such a blessing. Needless to say, we can hardly wait. Bocopro , you said “I foresee a very schizophrenic year with many false starts and much frustration for the Trump administration. Media will remain hostile and pounce self-righteously on anything which doesn’t dovetail with their leftist propaganda. Much “I toldjaso” spewing from MSNBC, ABC, and CNN.”
    The problem with this is that I’ll be feeling the same way…because I believe many of his false starts could have been avoiced if only Trump listened to others (the truth I get from people who know, who I’ve discussed here before, is he still DOES NOT)..the media will deserve to pounce and it won’t just be leftist propaganda…FOX will have a heck of a time standing up for this presidency in its first few months. I hope I’m wrong, of course. And I hope he grows up. I’m not optimistic. But I’m EXTREMELY optimistic that it isn’t going to be President Clinton. And I don’t agree with you as much on the rest of your words as I usually do!

    CI….that’s too simplified. it’s too difficult to embrace reason when two sides see things SO differently….the foundations of both parties’ thoughts are far too disparate today.
    “Bring the refugees IN” or “Keep the refugees OUT” might seem ideological but it’s just common sense.
    I’m afraid it’s less political correctness that divides us and more sheer common sense. Is that because I believe my side is right? Probably, and unlike what you think, I’m not at all afraid to admit that. And unlike many people, I do think through both sides…
    Meanwhile, which is safer for our country?…the “kindness” of the Left who believes the refugees need shelter and we should take them all in, or the “proven realization” of the Right who believes the refugees are dangerous and deserve help elsewhere?
    Higher minimum wage: Sounds SO NICE….works out TERRIBLY for our small businesses.
    Keep Obamacare: Sounds SO NICE…..has been quite the opposite for many…I could go on, but… and I’m happy to say I’m not as pessimistic as you are but I sure do understand your feelings…I’m not VERY optimistic about this first Trump year.

    Ed, me, too! SO good to see Obama GO.

    Jerry! Congratulations…what fun to look forward to! I’m happy for you.

    Mustang, thanks..same to you.

    I just got this emailed to me and thought you might enjoy it! :

    Quit trashing Obama’s accomplishments. He has done more than any other President before him. Here is a list of his impressive accomplishments:

    1. First President to be photographed smoking a joint.

    27. First President to hide his birth, medical, educational and travel records.
    28. First President to win a Nobel Peace Prize for doing NOTHING to earn it.
    29. First President to go on multiple “global apology tours” and concurrent “insult our friends” tours.
    30. First President to go on over 17 lavish vacations, in addition to date nights and Wednesday evening White House parties for his friends paid for by the taxpayers.
    31. First President to have personal servants (taxpayer funded) for his wife.
    32. First President to keep a dog trainer on retainer for $102,000 a year at taxpayer expense.
    33. First President to fly in a personal trainer from Chicago at least once a week at taxpayer expense.
    34. First President to repeat the Quran and tell us the early morning call of the Azan (Islamic call to worship) is the most beautiful sound on earth.
    35. First President to side with a foreign nation over one of the American 50 states (Mexico vs Arizona).
    36. First President to tell the military men and women that they should pay for their own private insurance because they “volunteered to go to war and knew the consequences.”
    37. Then he was the First President to tell the members of the military that THEY were UNPATRIOTIC for balking at the last suggestion.

  9. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL HERE AT Z’S SITE!

    I posted my year in review. What I’m most hoping for is (1) a return to decent health and (2) that the Trump Administration will govern in a way that helps America to return to the nation she was meant to be when founded.

  13. Z – I don’t think my desire is too simplistic in the least. Well meaning people damage their own foundation by trafficking in intellectual garbage. Case in point, the list you received by e-mail, where around half of the points are false or intentionally misleading….much like the previous “list” of 500+ things the Obama Administration was allegedly responsible for. We should be better than this.

    If one’s position 9s just, there is no need to invent assertions that only serve to make one feel better. That is why I am pessimistic about 2017……it’s going to be ore of the same.

  14. To amend my last more directly to what you responded with, are you saying that one cannot embrace reason because you don’t see the political opposition as doing likewise? For then, one would be acting exactly as the opposition itself.

    AOW, it’s actually kind of fun to post that list I rec’d in an email today; it’s obviously not all completely correct, but I don’t deal in exacts when it comes to things like this, they’re written slightly tongue in cheek and hyperbolically but the story on Obama is there; this was a president of less character than some think. Let’s hope Trump starts to wise up and act with a bit more dignity…that’ll help a lot.

    CI… People today have a hard time reasoning because it appears there is no truth; each side sees its own truth, which is ridiculous, of course. Something is true or not; as in the Israel situation. They either own that land or they don’t. etc etc.
    Go ahead, be pessimistic, anybody who thinks well is going to be less optimistic than pessimistic… I’d love to write more but sometimes I don’t see the point. thanks.

    Personally, I have some health goals, and some hobby type goals. I have roped myself into doing something because of the Samsung Fit2 watch I bought with Amazon gift cards from my kids. Now, I have to justify my self-generosity.

    Spiritually, I intend to study the Bible more instead of wasting my time reading from that infinite pile of literary trash found in the KindleUnlimited service we currently use.

    How about saying, instead, “Happy New Year to everyone who voted for me, those who didn’t, and those Democrats who lost across the country. Let’s pull together this year, get tough and make this country great!”
    Is that PC? Is being mean so important…? to flaunt and taunt like he did? UGH

    If I may get in on this conversation, I can understand both sides of this issue. However, Trump has a monumental load ahead so even with complete cooperation from everyone, any rebellious opposition will only make it harder. You want to get even with those that have continually bashed him, but how does that help, really? It would also show he doesn’t have to respond to every negative thing and can take the high road. In the end, he proved them all wrong when he won so doesn’t have anything more to prove. Just show everyone he can
