You will “Gaines” something if you read this:

I think this is excellent..take a minute to read it…put the anger or mistrust we have aside…think about it.

A nice, measured and loving response from him on the unsolicited drive-by attack by some rag called buzzardfeed or some such, and the mass piling on by their twisted sister publications. I would expect nothing less from the Gaines. Class acts and really entertaining show.

  2. “Disagreement is not the same thing as hate, don’t believe that lie. ”
    Right on.

Yep! Milady and I are about as different as could be. I’m white; she’s not. She’s Catholic; I’m . . . well, let’s just say “nonobservant.” She LOVES crustaceans; I can’t get the damned stuff past my nose. I rant and rave about politics and gubmint; she’s more apolitical than a llama. I really like Camaros; she insists on having a minivan.

Yet somehow we never fight. We disagree, but we don’t raise our voices or hurl insults or make threats. We discuss, we assess, we address issues and come to joint decisions, sometimes involving compromise, but ALWAYS focused on what’s right for our kids’ & grandkids’ welfare and future.

This rather quaint and old-timey approach to the very dangerous business of being human has resulted in no deaths, no drugs, no jails, no police records, no serious illnesses, no debt, and nice warm clean dry places to sleep with plenty to eat for all of us — kids, grandkids, sons- and daughters-in-law, and the original pair.

Too bad our “leaders” can’t cooperate that way.

  4. Joe says:

“lovingly disagree”…Now there’s a wisp from days gone forever. Sad, isn’t it?

  5. Sparky says:

I knew Chip Gaines is a good guy. Well done Chip. You know, it makes it easier to live that way when we put our faith in Christ and not our spouses, not our friends and definitely not the world. After I watched the movie “War Room” (2015) it was like a revelation was revealed through my shielded eyes. Worldly things will only disappoint and frustrate. Christ never does. It’s the Enemy (satan) who puts that smoke screen around us to cloud our thinking. Look to Him, and a good life just falls into place. That’s what’s wrong with our Country. We’ve quit relying on Christian teaching to resolve conflicts. Revenge or anger never works. It only causes strife.
(Sorry for the sermon. Just had to share that. Thank you.) 🙂

Remember our conversation the other day about Kelly’s FOX 6pm slot! WELL WELL…

“Tucker Carlson, the pugnacious primetime host who has torn up the 7 PM timeslot for Fox News Channel since November, has landed the network’s 9 PM timeslot being vacated by Megyn Kelly. So ends all talk of FNC giving the timeslot to a woman so that it’s 8-11 PM primetime slate will not be hosted entirely by men. (Z: like the snarky and pointless slam by the author of this article?)

That said, Martha MacCallum is taking over the 7 PM timeslot Carlson held briefly; she will anchor a show covering President-elect Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office, appropriately called, The First 100 Days; it will be based in New York.

MacCallum will co-anchor the network’s Inauguration Day coverage on Friday, January 20th alongside Chief Political Anchor

Bret Baier. MacCallum, who has been co-anchoring America’s Newsroom since 2010, with Bill Hemmer, recently signed a multi-year deal to remain with Fox News.

Shannon Bream, the network’s Supreme Court reporter who also has anchored FNC’s Sunday program America’s News Headquarters, is taking MacCallum’s spot on American Newsroom.”!

So a lot of us were right about Carlson (tho he HAS been getting a tad too silly/nasty lately) and I mentioned Bream the other day and she got a good nod, and MAC CALLUM…Bocopro, was it you who agreed with me that she is TERRIFIC!? GOOD STUFF, all in all, I think!!

Meanwhile, all the cable channels are exposing the Senate Russia Hacking hearings to the whole world; telling what our capabilities in fighting this are (nil), how we need help, how we’ve been bamboozled, how Russia’s effective.. telling the world what we do to other countries. Gosh, I wish SO MUCH that other countries had their intel revealed all over the world in the name of transparency. Some of you will say “they don’t really tell confidential stuff in these hours of hearings” (what? Hours of nothingingness?) but this gives a really terrible indication of our difficulties in fighting hacking, and then says what Trump should do…………my gosh.

I am SO happy so many of you read it and liked it….I’m actually cheered a little because I thought I might get some sarcasm or something because, let’s face it, we usually have “our dukes up” …the nastier the story, the more, and stronger comments! SO, thank you. It shows we ALL want what Gaines has described here….

I love that Disagreement not being the same as Hate. I’ve spoken for hours to German lib/friends in Munich , late into the night in old German pubs, about politics….and we’re argued and come out even better friends. THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN HERE, FOLKS!.

  8. geeez2014 says:

My gosh! There’s an Asian Female Senator speaking now slamming Trump on what he’s been saying about how it’s not Russia doing the hacking, etc., and then she says “Would you agree that it’s not helpful for president-elects to speak like this?”

Is there NO end to their insults? Is the message from the DNC “INSULT THE PRESIDENT-ELECT AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, AND ANYWHERE YOU CAN…” Really? in Senate HEARINGS going out to the world? It was , by the way, totally not cogent to the questioning of the experts; they didn’t address that part of her ugly comment.

  9. Z – The activities taking place today on the Hill are public hearings, no classified information is being discussed.

  10. geeez2014 says:

Oh, dear….Bill Hemmer just said exactly what I did above….He said he thought it’d be better if some of these hearings were behind closed doors, that this was no time to be openly discussing this, showing our capabilities and INcapabilities….Honestly, I don’t know if some of you were watching, but they seemed like personal comments made for private meetings….I wish I was wrong…But I respect Hemmer and was actually dismayed to hear he felt like I do…. it means we have a point.

I know this isn’t popular, but I sometimes think our transparency will be the end of us…

  11. geeez2014 says:

CI..I wish you could have seen it….of course there can’t be anything highly classified…but the inferences, the very clear and detailed discussion of our incapabillities in fighting the hacking/cyber attacks, I wish you could have heard it….
It actually worried me that Hemmer, too, felt that way.
It might not be classified but it’s gut wrenchingly open and expository. The worried faces on the experts, the posturing for “who can ask the best question” in the senate, only to have McCain call a senator’s comments a “diatribte’…..
rough stuff. I say behind closed doors is better than on all 3 major cable shows. There really is nothing in that 3 hour discussion that the public could be so interested in…our enemies? oh, yes. If nothing else for comic relief.

  12. Mal says:

There are folks from both sides of the aisle that feel like Chip; that country comes first. Unfortunately, not enough of “Dem” do!
Z, as to your comment about not filling Megyn’s spot with another female, consider if she had been a guy, the Trump thing would never have happened. That episode is what caused all the furor. Her actions (or should I say reactions) to Trump probably made it harder for other females to be considered in the future. Just sayin’………..

  13. geeez2014 says:

Mal, you could have a point about Megyn and not filling it with another female….

I worry about Tucker because he started out with a big bang and now has kind of turned into a sort of curmudgeon, wearing that kind of unappealing ‘disbelieving’ look on his face as guests speak….always trying to catch them, even sometimes getting caught but never backing down. I hope they can fix that in him!

  14. geeez2014 says:

didn’t anybody find my title clever? (pout!) 🙂 🙂

  15. Mal says:

Okay, Z. “GAINES” (as in Chip). We got it. A groaner that didn’t go unnoticed!

  16. CI..I wish you could have seen it….

I listened to a good bit of the audio. I’m not sure why you think the public wouldn’t be interested in threats to the U.S. The whole affair today reminded me that our President-Elect promised to release information this past Tuesday or Wednesday, as to why he didn’t think we were subjected to a Russian cyberattack. It’s now Thursday…..

  17. geeez2014 says:

CI…gad, who said I don’t want the public aware of threats? I don’t want our enemies knowing quite how unready we are for them. Big difference.
And yes, you don’t have to convince ME Trump needs to shut the HELL up before he speaks or tweets. MY GOSH.

An interesting question is why Obama evicted 35 Russian diplomats when he didn’t get the final intel report till today.

  18. Apologies, I may have misinterpreted where you wrote: There really is nothing in that 3 hour discussion that the public could be so interested in….

POTUS gets information in the PDB’s that often lead to policy decisions. His classified briefing, delivered today….showed him the sources and methods, and ancillary information. A previous PDB would have contained a report assessing the culprit, and it’s usually with high enough fidelity to drive decision points.

  19. geeez2014 says:

CI, you can stop the sarcasm, it’s not kind and doesn’t promote good commenting…(and I’m sure you will say you didn’t at all mean it to be sarcastic ;-))
I am pretty sure most of America is well aware of cyber attacks; not sure much new was said today that was new, other than how woefully unprepared we are.

Actually, some of the experts in the field are asking the same question I had about the PDB and Obama’s kicking people out two weeks or so ago, so let’s see.

  20. Well, being falsely accused isn’t good commenting either. Good day.

  21. geeez2014 says:

CI, not sure how what I’d written could have been misinterpreted. Astonishing that you hadn’t meant to be sarcastic. If that’s the case, I’m sorry.
    All the best..

  22. geeez2014 says:

Mal, I thought it was a pretty good groaner :-)!! XX

  23. geeez2014 says:

    I’ve just got to say that if Lindsay Graham was my senator, I’d be so humiliated.;
He must be really jealous for not being picked by Trump for some big job because he did his best this morning to cast real doubt on Trump with Intel. Not that the relationship has got off to a good start!

See, I don’t mind if Republicans criticize Republicans (I wish Dems would more often, they rarely do) but I do mind when they insult Republicans for what seems to be personal gain. Graham didn’t have to ask Clapper today “Are you going to be uncomfortable talking to Trump tomorrow?” “Was Trump wrong when he questioned your intel?” etc etc. Really useless…absolutely no reason to do that in that situation other than to put Trump down.

  24. Mal says:

    I’ll give ‘ya that, girl!

  25. geeez2014 says:

By the way…I quoted (actually paraphrased) “Was Trump wrong when he questioned your intel?” by Graham, BUT he really said things more like “WasN’T Trump wrong..”
    Get my drift?
