Thanks, everyone; I was stunned that anybody’d see a similarity other than it’s a wall. Seemed SO dishonest, misleading, typically “get Trump to look worse” ….We must remember that most European journalists just take OUR articles, translate them, and pawn it off as their own. Not sure if their editors are that uninformed or it’s just an accepted practice. ALL LIB.
Plus, they barely have conservative media there…They DO, but it’s mocked, too.
In Germany, people are kind of secretly uniting thru blogs (believe me) but they’ll be called NAZIS by the world’s media just for the attempt to save their beautiful country…wait for it. it’s actually always happened every time they’ve tried to keep refugees out or done any slightest thing that’s PRO GERMANY.

I AM FIRST AND SECOND GENERATION and I’m so glad I did get to live through maybe the last generation where my legal ancestors adored America, felt grateful to be here, raise their kids here, thrived here……..depending on the gov’t to make sure others, too, were vetted and then accepted. Heck, my parents helped relatives come in and had to show they could afford to support them should they not get jobs! What a different world.

AOW…I’ve looked into Mexico’s southern border…..I was told there’s a wall there….but I’m not sure there is. There are only ‘sections of fence’…the pictures we see are sometimes an Israeli wall, not Mexican. That’s a lie we’ve bought into to back our “MEXICO HAS A WALL TO KEEP GUATEMALANS OUT” wish. Not true.
HOWEVER, folks, when Googling I discovered that Mexicans WANT a wall down there…and I’m thinking maybe Trump’s doing some deal that would include THAT wall along with OUR wall…..very very VERY clever! HA!

Trump is a nationalist, not a globalist. A nationalist protects his nation’s people from unfair competition from abroad, especially in the labour market. We don’t need neoliberal globalism once it reaches a level which destroys established economies. Our market is more than large enough to sustain and grow America’s economy. The world needs access to OUR markets. We don’t need theirs (annual US trade deficit $500B+). And from now on, the world will pay the USA for access to our markets through tariffs on Imports.

Fredd’s comment is spot on. I hadn’t thought of it that way, but its true. As for Mexico saying it won’t be paying for the wall, they have begun already when they lost the revenue from Carrier A/C and Ford, and that’s just the beginning. It never was meant as being a check made out to us. The “payments” will be continuing, too, I’m sure.

CI, sometimes one has to spend a lot of money to send a message; this wall is nothing any American truly wants on its landscape, I don’t believe, but short of some genius offering a plan showing how many many millions CAN be spent simply on effective manpower, surveillance and sensors, we need the visible of A WALL, sadly.

One of the very funniest moments I’ve experienced with my Chinese student who lives here was when he’d ordered thru Amazon some very high-tech lamp…..it finally arrived and he was so excited; he started putting it together and realized parts were missing and other parts didn’t fit together as demonstrated in the directions. He was right. He asked me to come check and help and it was hopeless without the missing parts and not expensive enough to pursue replacement…(plus, just TRY that on Amazon!…they usually send a new one and tel you to keep the old one)..ANYWAY, I noticed it was MADE IN CHINA (as was HE!) and said so “Look, Chris!! It’s MADE IN CHINA…what did you EXPECT?!” He startled, looked surprised, then BURST into laughter with me 🙂

I saw big name German journalists simply translate and print in Germany when I lived there…I often wonder if the editors who pay the big bucks even know they’re paying for translation, not a well thought-out article by a German!?
The Herald Tribune, sort of ‘the’ English-speaking newspaper sold in kiosks around Paris was SO liberal, too. David Ignatius (an Armenian, as a matter of fact) was either editor or big contributor to that and I so resented it even then, before I had become so politically savvy….I recognized it THEN. but I had to buy it because heck, it had Calvin and Hobbs, and it had THE NY TIMES CROSSWORD PUZZLE for my respites in French Cafes, with an occasional cigarette and a French delish coffee and Paris walking by the windows….heaven!

ANOTHER QUESTION: Why question Trump’s motivation for checking into fraudulent voting in this country? Yes, he’s thin skinned and said he’d have won the popular vote had fraud not occurred, but how about the fact that it DID occur? As Frum just said on FOX, Obamacare probably wouldn’t have passed had Al Franken’s election been legal…remember it was shown later that illegals had voted and pushed him over the top; they needed his vote, it was a hair close vote for the ACA and he could have been THE VOTE….Frum made a good point for that.

CI…I don’t think the scale matters. Sec of States will never admit they had voting fraud in their states…there have been a few electoral studies and many HAVE shown problems.
The scale shouldn’t matter at all. But yes, his suggestion that 4 million voted fraudulently is probably wrong.
I think that link’s picture is not ‘levity’ at all, no offense…that’s awful!!! I can’t help to not think of illegals but our own border patrol and other law enforcement who now lie dead due to Fast and Furious and cartels, you know? I so wish the truth of F&F had been exposed to Americans.

This year, I saw at least 20 people out of the 80 at my voting precinct vote PROVISIONAL BALLOT. Check this link out…maybe you can find in it somewhere (I hope one of you CAN!) how people are prohibited by going from precinct to precinct saying “I moved so I am not on your list, but can I vote?” “Sure, here’s a provisional ballot”…

The scale of voter fraud matters to me, when federal dollars are going to be spent investigating it. Studies indeed have shown problems, but they’ve largely been ineptitude or technological malfeasance regarding voter rolls and eligibility. Update and standardize voting machines, mandate showing identification to vote, and ensure that States carry out the proper oversight leading up to elections; and the problem largely goes away.
If the States don’t have evidence of widespread fraud…..then it shouldn’t be a federal priority.

Vetting currently consists [generally] of personal interviews, travel history [through passport records] and law enforcement checks, conducted via international agreements with other nations and organizations such as Interpol. Where I’m curious regarding Trumps position on vetting, is….what is he proposing to add? I concur that the Israeli model [which adds behavior profiling to the list above] is better…but Trump hasn’t specified that this would be a part of his executive action.

My position is close all the mosques, declare islam a cult without religious perks in America. For starters. People walk around bears in Yosemite right? Every once in a while a bear kills someone. Why walk around bears. Course I don’t like swimming in the ocean much either with 8 foot plus long fish with lots of sharp teeth. Call me a puss if you want, I call it reasoned thinking.
Z, Well obamacare has lots of time bombs in it for 2017 and 2018 – sabotage by the dems is SOP. President Trump has said, we could let all those pre-defined implementations come to pass and make life really suck for Americans or we can fix it now and move on. If they don’t replace obamacare with something sensible (which is entirely possible), they’re screwed until the end of time. In fact, if they don’t deliver on – say 80% of Trump’s campaign promises – they (and we) are screwed until the end of time. Those invisible Trump voters who magically showed up in Nov 2016 won’t be found anywhere but on their couch in 2020.
Immigration? I’m of the same view as President Trump – Only bring people in who are good for America. In Cincy for example, we are Flush with Russians and others because P&G is bringing them in as cheap labor H1-B Visas. Screw P&G. Hire Americans and pay them, or how about we boycott P&B products. This has all gotten to the level of warfare, but it’s too damn bad, 85% of the population doesn’t have a clue.
We need American men making good wages, so if they have a family the woman can stay and support the children – in most cases. If you’re going to have kids, commit to supporting them. If you want to be a career woman, don’t have kids unless you have some other great support system. Aunt’s Uncles. Not daycare centers.
We need manufacturing jobs back so the low income folks have somewhere to work so they’re not on the street being gangbangers. Cut off welfare for able-bodied individuals, and watch how fast they’ll want to move to an environment where they get a paycheck.
Trump has all the right ideas, it is just that America has gone so far down the rabbit hole, that now we have people marching down the street dressed like women’s genitals without the slightest clue of why they are doing that. And black folks who hate all white people instead of demanding a higher standard and punishment for bad cops.

If you watch old videos of Trump being interviewed by folks like Oprah (comes to mind) he hasn’t changed his tune for decades. These actionable items of his were not just made up yesterday.
We had a president who pardoned someone (grossly mischaracterized as a whisteblower) who released millions of documents that got Americans killed as well as people in conflict areas that were helping America as translators and informants. We have a former Secy of State who got an Ambassador (and 3 other Americans) killed at Bengazi because she needed to have them killed because of her and obama’s gun running stuff in Libya, and where she as SoS Sold Influence to foreign countries and those $ were put into the clinton foundation, tax free, un tracable. The clinton foundation has been disolved at the moment almost of her losing the election. Proof positive that the foundation only existed to sell political influence to anyone and everyone.
Consequences for these scumbag POS’s ? Nada.
We’ve gone so far off the rails, we need actions that will shock most people to get anywhere near back to where we belong.
