Presiding over Obama Care….after all those promises?

Trump promised to REPLACE…then he went to REPEAL…there were months and months of “GET RID OF OBAMACARE FIRST ON THE AGENDA IF I WIN!”

Suddenly, he won and they’re saying “maybe next year…”

This is the kind of situation America deserves better on……..I don’t want to vote for things and find out someone (and all the many minions who were in on his promises) was talking without knowing THE FACTS.  The Republicans in power were talking with him during the candidacy;  did nobody say “you can’t DO that!” or “Don’t promise anything too soon,”  or “We have this great plan so yes, you can roll it out immediately!”  Suddenly, he’s in power and everybody’s back stepping on healthcare?   The Republicans kept saying they have plans but …really?

I, the one who’s always saying “I wish Trump would wait and do things right,” thought he, at least, had enough input on healthcare to support his WE WILL DO IT NOW promises…I’m a bit nervous about this administration which makes wild promises, or threats, and seems not to know what they’re quite talking about….?

What were your thoughts when he suddenly said “maybe at the beginning of next year?”

Not shocked or surprised. I believe he has made clear his desire for government health care. But it’s not just Trump. Very few republicans are constitutional conservatives. Most in Washington are colluding btwn parties and way out of step with the real America. We should definitely stay “nervous about this administration,” Z. Trump can be somewhat malleable when his ego is stroked, so hopefully the good people around him will herd him in the right direction occasionally (like the Gorsuch pick). But obamacare? I’m afraid we may be stuck with it (or worse)

  2. ObamaCare’s tentacles extend throughout the healthcare system. I’m not sure that Trump knew the full extent of those tentacles. Hell, who does understand? Look how long the ObamaCare bill was — and later it was tweaked multiple times.

  3. Forgot to say….ObamaCare is failing! In two more years, what would be the effects of that epic failure?

  4. I believe he has made clear his desire for government health care. But it’s not just Trump. Very few republicans are constitutional conservatives. Most in Washington are colluding btwn parties and way out of step with the real America. We should definitely stay “nervous about this administration,”

I could not have phrased this any better. When our two major parties primary response to a clearly unconstitutional and untenable government action, is to merely find a way to make it run better….rather than consigning it to where it belongs…..we can see that there’s no true desire to pursue Constitutional Conservatism.

  5. bunkerville says:

I agree with AOW. Having worked in Healthcare Administration, Obamacare will be very difficult to dismantle without causing even more harm if not done correctly. The reimbursements are so tangled up with Medicare, medicaid, the insurance industry, rules and regs for hospitals, requirements for care and so on. It was over a thousand pages long and the regs for implementation thousands of pages more. Sadly it may be better for it to collapse on its own so people want the GOP plan turns out to be. To flat repeal Obamacare would be a disaster. I have heard Ryan talk about it and he gets it. I also feel that at least wait for Tom Price to be Secretary and get his input before anything is done.

  6. geeez2014 says:

And my point is Trump had to know that a quick end to Obamacare would be impossible; it can’t be that NO REPUBLICANS involved closely with healthcare the last few years didn’t KNOW this is going to be much tougher to do that Trump and they promised.

Bunkerville is right; I’ve heard Paul Ryan talk about it and he does get it. For those who said “Trump listens” I need to remind them that, months ago, I told them, second hand, that HE LISTENS TO NOBODY.
Yes, Bunker…Tom Price will get in and hopefully talk publicly about what CAN be done and WHEN it can be done.
They did stop saying only REPEAL fairly recently…it went to REPEAL AND REPLACE, remember?

  7. bunkerville says:

Z— I do remember!!! 🙂 I am all in! My hunch is Price will be able to sort out the different plans the GOP have for the replacement. 🙂

  8. Imp says:

Off topic but what the hell…..Here is the Jihadi version of “Housewives” of Jihad…

The BBC did something no one expected and amusingly mocked the Islamic State and women who travel to Syria in a clip from their show Revolting.

The short video is designed as a fake trailer for a show parodying Real Housewives. There are actually some fun shots thrown at Islamists, feminists, and the religion of Islam itself. It’s borderline politically incorrect, which means it’s way funnier than anything the BBC has ever done before.

Are you surprised to see British Muslims get offended for a comedy mocking ISIS?

  9. Mal says:

Frankly, why not simply go back to how we were prior to Obamacare? I mean, was anyone ever denied medical care when admitted to a hospital or free clinic? It also didn’t involve what must be thousands of employees, buildings, etc. that Obamacare has to be costing us.
Sometimes the simplest answers are still the best. Anyone?

  10. Imp says:

DEVOS confirmed by VP Pence casting the tie breaker.

  11. Kid says:

Thoughts… Trump was campaigning – no question. He tells us this when he said he could have won the popular vote if he campaigned a different way. So job 1 was to get elected. For me the jury is out on what sort of plan will replace ocare. Trump says it will be doctor and patient focused, so let’s see. It has to be that.
(IBM offered obama hardware and software to eliminate the reported 50% fraud in mediocare, wonder if they’ll offer it to Trump.)

I’d like it to happen before next year becuse there is a bunch of really nasty bits of ocare to be implemented in 2017 and 2018. Are the repubs holding it back so people will see first hand how disgusting it will be and almost everyone gets on board for replacement? If he waiting on solid footing in the supreme court becuase you know the vampires are going to go sue happy with whatever the replacement is.

Rand Paul says he has a replacement, wonder what is up with that.

I generally like what Trump’s been up to. I like the cabinet picks a lot. I like seeing the media being held to account, instead of just letting them run wild like Bush did. If Gorsuch ‘fixes’ the supreme court we can make some conservative progress.

  12. Kid says:

MAL, I don’t see why we couldn’t go back to what we had, stick something in to take care of people with pre-existing, allow young people to get very affordable Major Medical Only, and get rid of the stupid regulations like not allowing insurers over state lines.

  13. Kid says:

    IMP, Funny.

    Devos – Yippeeee

  14. geeez2014 says:

Kid, that’s exactly my point; If Ron Paul has a plan, has Trump SEEN it? Had ANY of the Rep plans been presented, discussed? How could they NOT BE for him to go ahead and promise it’d be about the first thing he’d do? crazy.

DEVOS: the first time in American history since Washington that a VP had to break the tie in a Cabinet Member’s pick. Thank GOD Sessions hadn’t been approved yet or we’d have lost his vote; I wonder if there’s something the Reps are pulling to SLOW Sessions’ down so he CAN vote for their picks? Hmmmm

Mal and Kid; too many Americans have been stuck ‘in between’…not financially okay enough to have insurance and not poor enough to get it for free…lost homes, lost financial futures, etc. They’re the people who needed help. Mal’s right; most people, very poor, DO get help.

Also, because of the nightmare of PAPERWORK, I’m hearing more and more excellent doctors a few years from retirement who are retiring NOW because the paperwork is choking them; just not worth it…not enough time left for patients….it’s horrible.
YET! Two of my conservative med student friends/family tell me nearly all the interns/residents are LEFTISTS! they’re smart on medicine but stupid as stumps when it comes to healthcare and their own financial futures.

  15. geeez2014 says:

Imp; if ONLY more and more spoofs like that were done against islamists….i love it.

  16. geeez2014 says:
For those who thought the game was rigged.

Also; I heard two Pats aren’t going to go to the White House because they ‘don’t feel welcome there’….ya, take the Black president out and what’ve ya got at the White House that could interest them?? I had to Google to see if both were Black. SURPRISE!! (not)
    See, Trump’s too “prejudice”…..
So, they not only sleep with their eyes shut, they live with them shut, too? When has Trump been prejudiced? How about respect for their TEAM and for the WHITE HOUSE?

Ya, Tom Brady didn’t show in 2015 but he said it was family reasons, tho some said he was ticked at Josh Earnest (which only raises him higher in my estimation..Brady, Not Earnest)

  17. It’s good to see Devos get through. I have no idea if she’s worth a damn at running anything….but any movement toward school choice and breaking the grip of the NEA and AFT….is a victory.

  18. geeez2014 says:

Time for Ruth Bader-Ginsburg to get some class and quit the Court…but with Trump in charge, SHE NEVER WILL.

  19. Bob says:

The nation’s health care system is a little pregnant with Obama Care. It will take a while to perform that abortion.

  20. Kid says:

Z, yep, the horror of ocare and it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

  21. geeez2014 says:
CRUZ v SANDERS on HEALTHCARE: CNN tonight at 9pm EST. Darn…I’ll be only getting in an hour then I have to go.
Poor Cruz; with Tapper and Bash hosting? As if he’ll have a chance? Should get interesting.

  22. geeez2014 says:

How the HELL could he have made SO many promises (the wall, healthcare, jobs, taxes cut ASAP) and NONE of it’s remotely viable as soon as he’d said. Did NOBODY help or does he REALLY NOT LISTEN? Or maybe WE didn’t listen during the primaries? Or were so excited to hear him say I WILL FIX AMERICA that we didn’t ask “HOW ARE YOU GOING TO DO THAT AS SOON AS YOU”RE PROMISING?”

  23. Z,
And my point is Trump had to know that a quick end to Obamacare would be impossible.

I’m not sure that such is the case. ObamaCare probably doesn’t touch him much personally.

Well, we’re only a few weeks into this administration. I’m watching to see what shakes out in the next several months.

  24. Bunkerville,
To flat repeal Obamacare would be a disaster.

As I said before, all those tentacles. Medical providers are just now able to cope with many of those tentacles — expensive equipment and applications for electronic filings and referrals, and more. My own primary care physician retired early because of all those hoops to jump through.

  25. Z,
How the HELL could he have made SO many promises (the wall, healthcare, jobs, taxes cut ASAP) and NONE of it’s remotely viable as soon as he’d said.

As have promised so many candidates.

This time around, Trump tapped into all the anger, free floating within the electorate.

  26. geeez2014 says:

AOW! “touch him personally?” Of course not! But he was running for president, not trustee for HIS life. There had to be SOMEONE who knew how healthcare insurance worked so he could consider what would have to happen in order to fulfill all his many promises. Yes, seems that he tapped into all the anger, made wild promises, and never bothered to stop and think “Man, can this be DONE?”
I thought that during the whole campaign but felt that with advisors around him, they must know something we don’t. Apparently not.

  27. Mal says:

To clarify my earlier statement, I mean go back to pre-Obamacare………..UNTIL we come up with its replacement. It would at least serve as stop-gap coverage. Am I over simplifying?

  28. geeez2014 says:

Mal, no, you’re not over simplying…but you suggested everybody got care somehow back then, and I do have to remind us all that people did, but lost homes to pay for it…stuck in that middle class that was just a bit too rich to qualify for medicaid, for example, and too poor to afford it themselves….see my point? What “stop gap coverage?”
I’m not even sure it’d work to ‘just go back’….things got pretty screwed up and complicated…that’s why I fault Trump and his ‘advisors’….if I KNEW THAT, I’d have thought THEY would ..before they’d make big promises of doing it NOW.

  29. geeez2014 says:

You seeing how even what some unknown chef has typed on his receipts is anti Trump? IS THIS EVER GOING TO STOP? THE MEDIA’S ABSOLUTELY RABID AND PEOPLE HEAR/READ THIS STUFF AND I’M HOPING LESS ARE BUYING INTO IT THAN I THINK ARE

  30. geeez2014 says:

FOX right now is calling Trump a liar for having listed terror attacks that WERE covered though he says they were not.
“What they’re saying is NOT TRUE, AGAIN….” Says Shep Smith on FOX.
ALL are agreeing; this was NOT TRUE, Mr. Trump; STOP THE F UP;….I’m getting embarrassed for being a Republican.

  31. geeez2014 says:

Trump, Kushner, Conway, SPicer, Pence, etc ETC etc…..WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?
He even put out a LIST that is definitely NOT TRUE!

Yes, the media’s a bunch of LIARS and making him look as bad as they can, but MY GOD…how much more can he HAND THEM?

SMith says “Don’t listen to the media which is reporting accurately, listen to our false assertions,” says about Trump’s White House.

  32. Kid says:

Z, I’m not finding where he says they were not reported, but underreported….
Sure the problemisn’t with ole Shemp?

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday that the Trump administration released a list of 78 terror attacks that were underreported by the media to show “the Earth is a very dangerous place right now.”
The White House issued the list of attacks from 2014 to 2016 after Mr. Trump told U.S. troops Monday that the media had not sufficiently covered some of them, including shootings at a night club in Orlando, Florida, and at an office in San Bernardino, California.

  33. ObamaCare hasn’t touched me directly because my previous policy was grandfathered in. By a mere two weeks! My premiums remained reasonably stable, and I never had the Bronze Plan deductible ($6500?).

Those who have been directly touched by ObamaCare know what an epic failure ObamaCare is. It’s dying.

GOP Congress critters have bragged that they have multiple alternative plans at the ready. Do they REALLY?

  34. Kid,
I have tried to follow the Islamomaniacs’ attacks in Europe. They have sometimes been reported, but often with the lie “motive unknown.”

I don’t know what Spicer included in that list.

But I do well recall that a few weeks after that British soldier was beheaded in the streets of London, an elderly woman was beheaded while she was sitting in her back yard. How many people even heard about that atrocity?

  35. Kid says:

I also remeber all the terror attacks n the US that obama and his media called workplace violence – such as Major hasan who ran around yelling kahula snackbar whille shooting soldiers at Ft Hood. I can think of a few others too at other locations. So those are terror attacks not reported.

I gotta tell you also, when I look at a new google page (collection of “news” from around the mediasphere, half of it may as well just say “WAAAAAAAAA WE HATE TRUMP AAAGGGH WE DON’T LIKE TRUMP TRUMP HAS TO GO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WAAAAA BANG BANG BANG” Honeslty, It’s kinda funny but annoying to to be sprayed with all the adolescent crap.

Then S.jackson lee I think out saying Trum p should be impeached becuase Putin is attacking S Korea… Wow. SOmeone shold have brains of these people examined and impeach them.

  36. Kid says:

AOW, I think the inference is in the USA, becuase that is where we are trying to keep them from coming, but if we’re talking about Eurpoe, Good God, there are likely millions of attacks by moslems that go unreported And not dealt wiht by the police

  37. He even put out a LIST that is definitely NOT TRUE!

Yep. I’ve gone from thinking that he’s simply not that adept off the cuff [or even on for that matter] to thinking that there is a larger, and longer term strategy of conditioning the public, to eventually accept lies proffered for a political agenda. His anti-media schtick is getting stale….speaking at a prayer breakfast or to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines….and invoking [not only his electoral win…..we got it Donald…you won] his tirade against “fake news, “alternative facts”, or whatever the surrogates are inventing now… simply insulting.

He’s seemingly intentionally obscuring the good things he has accomplished…with this chaff that serves no purpose other than to waste all or our time. There has to be a broader purpose to this.

  38. geeez2014 says:

CI, you missed the truth about the prayer breakfast…he said nothing untoward IF the people were aware of what was said in the introduction to him. I blogged on it. I was FURIOUS, too, until I realized it made sense.
I never quite got why the term “alternative facts” was wrong in view of what prompted Conway to say it, either, tell you the truth. When people like CNN haters are giving facts that just aren’t true, sometimes you need to call the truth alternative….
I’m not sure what the broader purpose is to the rest of it, but IT STINKS.

AOW: That’s all I’m asking…you said this… “GOP Congress critters have bragged that they have multiple alternative plans at the ready. Do they REALLY?”…and I’ve been asking that to no response. WHERE WERE THEY when I heard Trump promise WE WILL DO THIS! Did NOBODY say “are you NUTS? You can’t do that, or you can’t do it that quickly!”
INstead, he looks like a giant ASS right now..

Kid, they covered all of those you mentioned pretty hard…..

We have to realize this president needs to grow up and get good information before he tweets or talks or whatever….Because this stinkin’ media is SO AGAINST him (to the point of HEADLINE NEWS telling us the tiniest little slam to him in some podunk town in Idaho) that he simply can’t afford to keep goofing, keep exaggerating, keep whining….
We all deserve better than this.

  39. geeez2014 says:

Does Trump REALLY have to say ““Do you want to give his name?” Trump asked Rockwall County, Texas, Sheriff Harold Eavenson after he complained about the legislator. “We’ll destroy his career.” REALLY?

  40. Z – I wasn’t referring to Trump’s remarks about The Apprentice; I can’t find the transcript right now, so I might be thinking of another venue….but I’ll let my point stand regarding his speech at CENTCOM.

    “We’ll destroy his career.” REALLY?

I’m someone who takes civil asset forfeiture abuse seriously….and this remark even surprised me, as jaded about Trump as I already am.

  41. Kid says:

Just saw rump on TV talking about unreported terror attackes. He was specifically talking about Europe in this case. Hell yea, they’re unreported !

  42. Kid says:

Z, They didn’t call them terror attacks.

  43. geeez2014 says:

Kid….the list included plenty of American attacks, too. And they were reported on.
He’s right on some of it but he MUST get someone reading everything that goes out…maybe five people, to make sure he’s more careful, more precise, etc…

CI….I’m almost afraid to ask; I didn’t hear the CENTCOM speech…what did he say? The comment about ruining a career was said at a meeting of sheriffs…CENTCOM was bad??

  44. I felt insulted….but maybe that’s just me.

    He began:
We have tremendous spirit, and I want to thank you. We had a wonderful election, didn’t we?
And I saw those numbers, and you liked me, and I liked you. That’s the way it worked.

Thanks Donald….we realize that you won….

    Then a bit later states:

“You’ve seen what happened in Paris and Nice. All over Europe it’s happening. It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported. And in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons and you understand that.”

    Transcript is here:

I’ve been present at more than a few POTUS and VPOTIS speeches during my career, but I’ve never been witness to such a blatant use of this platform to advance [ad nauseam] such a trite political agenda. Perhaps it’s just another symptom of the drive-by, intellectually empty caliber of people we look to, to manage our nation these days.

  45. Kid says:

Z, I’m a twitter follower of Trump and see no peoblem with his tweets. I read em every day. Sign up and follow him. I think you may be operating on bad info.

CI, I find his and Spicer’s tact of holding the media’s feet to the fire VERY refreshing. fwiw. They’ve had their way for decades and this explains their current problem. They are in heroin withdrawl and I am loving it.

  46. geeez2014 says:

CI….the “you LIKE me,” what I call his “Sally Fields complex” is getting so old. He even said “Obama likes me, though he probably wouldn’t admit it..” the other day.
He’s all over people LIKING HIM and that’s literally dangerous….

I will say this, however much I do agree with you: I have often wondered about attacks not reported from Europe and we all know MUSLIM is often left out of the reports and the muslim perp’s names are only told when absolutely necessary….about Europe, I’ve told American friends that I wonder if our reports play those down because our leftwing “let ’em all come” media doesn’t want Americans to know how bad it’s getting there. Believe me, I get first hand news from my German kids and IT IS FAR FAR worse than we’re hearing..FAR.
In Germany, young girls who used to leave dance class, for example, in the evening, have been raped in very high numbers so they MUST walk in groups now….I could go on and ON about those stories and we don’t hear that here.
For him to list WELL REPORTED attacks in that list he gave to the media is NUTS!!!

Having said that, I will try to read the CENTCOM talk and appreciate your linking the text.

  47. geeez2014 says:

Kid, I don’t mind their holding the media’s feet to the fire! OF COURSE I LOVE THAT! But they’re really not winning, they’re sounding dumb.
Are you saying the media’s reporting fake tweets from Trump? What ‘bad info’ am I ‘operating’ on?? I’m eager to feel better, so TELL ME 🙂

  48. geeez2014 says:

CI..>SO SORRY: I didn’t realize he made those UNDERREPORTED ATTACK REMARKS at the CENTCOM speech…thanks.. I know the media had the list before the speech but hadn’t watched so I didn’t know that was part of his talk.

  49. Kid says:

Z, I understand you want him talking like Ronald Reagan. he says some things that make the back of my neck squirrel around too. Not too many but some.

I am going to take the position we are not in that the Reagan environment. We have a democrat party and media who have declared literal war on America. There is NOTHING they won’t say or do. Given this it is going to get ugly on both sides. I’m giving Trump a lot of leeway based on this opinion of mine. You have UK parliamint people saying Trump is Racist and Sexist. Based on zero proof of either. I could go on for a novel’s worth of stuff. Clinton rapes at least 3 women that we know of and hey, all good. I’m to the point, I want these beyond description hypocritical libtards, media, democrat politicians to be taken by aliens or something. I literally hate them and consider them an enemy to not only America but the civilized world.

  50. Kid says:

Z, create a twitter account and follow him. email me if you have any troubles. I’m not seeing anything.

I think Trump has two choices – fight back which yea is not ideal, or ignore it and thereby ‘accept’ it in the minds of most people. We are at war. War is ugly.

  51. Kid says:

Yea, Saying that people like him, that obama likes himand probably won’t admit it. That’s the kind of stuff where we are on common ground. Why get into that? But again, given the alternative, I can accept less than perfect, a lot less.

  52. geeez2014 says:

    I have a Twitter account; I just don’t get it 🙂

But Kid….I don’t expect Reagan, I just expect truth and certainty…true in what he says, certain he CAN do what he says.
Email me how to get to be a follower…ugh!! thanks.

  53. Z – I absolutely agree with you, as I have in the past; the U.S. media generally fails to educate the public. But where there will be calls that Islamic terror attacks in Europe don’t really get covered well here, the same can be said for any other part of the world. We simply don’t get news of these events from Turkey, southeast Asia, India, etc. It’s largely a matter of bandwidth though. No media outlet can air coverage of every event globally; we only really see those that either affect U.S. interests….of have a high casualty count/take place at a tourist landmark. Low-grade terror attacks here really don’t get covered in other parts of the world either.

This is how it’s always been. Media consumers have a limited attention span, and really only care about the pop culture landscape, sadly.

Trump’s Twitter feed is where I get most of my entertainment, and where I see most of his lies and immaturity. I wish he’d left his personal phone in NYC or Mar-a-Lago on Jan 20th.

  54. Mal says:

Z, I was thinking about an incident that happened here in Vegas about 6 or 7 years ago while checking my wife out of a local hospital. There was a Hispanic couple with 2 children in front of us, all very well dressed, that were contesting their bill, which was around $300 or $400. The cashier was explaining they had already cut the bill by 87% but they were still complaining. Nothing came up about their ability to pay. See what I mean? If you play the system, you can get away with it.

  55. geeez2014 says:

Mal, I was in the ER about 12 years ago and saw a nurse on the phone for at least 30 minutes trying to find the cheapest pharmacy for a Hispanic worker who’d been injured near where I live on a job sight but who lived across downtown, far away. Over and over she called pharmacies near where he lived to see what some product cost. I couldn’t help wondering if she’d have done that for ME. Calling pharmacies for the best price? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I so understand what you’re saying.

CI…when I moved to Paris in 1999, I had a nose full of EAST TIMOR, a place I’d never even heard of, but there was a rebellion and at least the French knew what was happening! I have always been impressed and happy with the news I got in Europe…ALL the world, not just American news.
I believe the media’s done a job on us, lowering the timespan ability….AND we don’t have to READ anymore…You click on a headline and there’s a darned VIDEO! I want to READ my news! I hate videos and I particularly hate when the story has almost nothing to do with the overly ginned-up headline, which is happening WAY more lately.
I just signed up to Follow Trump on Twittter and have to say I was less upset after seeing them in a row than when I hear them singularly in ‘hate Trump’ articles.

I just read that Tom Brady might be friendly with Trump but his wife has been tweeting slams, too.
    I don’t think he has a chance.

I was thinking that if we have a bad attack again, he’ll be probably good at dealing with it but then I realized that HE will be blamed by Americans for it..”he said too much” “He hated Muslims,” etc etc….they’ll all BLAME HIM no matter WHAT. And that’s not right.

  56. geeez2014 says:

I guess you can all tell I have NEVER EVER been more confused about ANY public figure than DONALD J TRUMP.

  57. Kid says:

    God Bless Us All.

  58. geeez2014 says:
I ran across this…apparently, this guy knows the score was put up before it was over but nobody’s talking about it elsewhere!?
Also, Super Bowl must have been rigged “because Trump left the party he was attending to watch it early.” Oh, and “Russians rigged the election, so who’s to say the Bowl wasn’t rigged??”

You can’t make this stuff up.
