US Attorney for New York

So sorry Trump’s fired Preet Bharara.   He had told him only this last November that he’d stay, actually asked him to stay, but the guy didn’t resign within a day or two, so he’s fired as of today.

DARN!  He’s been investigating Cuomo and DeBlasio dirty dealings, the Clinton Foundation investigation was his office, approved by him.  His office was also considering investigation FOX regarding something about Roger Ailes and they’re known for being hard on Wall Street insiders, which CNN is taking to the bank as if “Trump was so corrupt he wanted to get this guy!”  BUT, he also, before this job, worked for Schumer, so……..I’m thinking the Sessions DoJ thinks that leaks could be coming from these attorneys…so, maybe that’s why.

The resignations were asked for and apparently expected within 24 hours!   With literally no time to arrange things, this is problematic for Trump’s administration because there are no people in place but Deputy US Attorneys who, I guess, take over.  Are they kidding?  And Deputy US Attorneys  can’t be leakers or troublesome in some other way?

” Deputy US Attorneys…” Are normally careerists and not political appointees that get chased out with any new administration.

So the deputy’s a careerist but the big guy isn’t, Imp?

  3. Kid says:

Clinton fired all 93 on day one when he took office. We’ll manage. Was this guy really investigating or was he investigating like that republican guy that never seemed to come up with anything. Darryl Issa if I remember.

    I don’t know, just think it’s a worthwhile question.

Otherwise Trump said he would not get in the way of his cabinet picks and this is in keeping with that statement imo. I support it until I hear otherwise.

  4. Imp says:

Z….yes….dats true. 99% are all political partisan appointees.

  5. We lost a great US Attorney yesterday…..for no apparent reason. I wish Silverfiddle was still blogging. He wanted Bharara for SCOTUS….I’d love to hear his thoughts on Trump reneging on his word.

CI, did he? I’ll email him and ask him. Stay tuned. Maybe he’ll come here and respond after I email him.

Imp; I’m not following you…The US ATTORNEYS are appointees….that’s why they can let them all go. But you’re saying the Deputies are career folks?

Kid, ya….they have investigations ongoing and the ones I mentioned are only a few which this guy had. He’s prosecuted fairly; Dems and Reps…….This certainly doesn’t mean the Cuomo or DeBlasio or Clinton Foundation cases will not be investigated now…I hope.

  7. Well, we don’t know what we don’t know.

    I’m reserving judgment on this.

I don’t have much to say on it. President Trump is a classic mixed bag.

Is this payback to Schumer? Does this have anything to do with the supposed wiretapping of candidate Trump? Who knows…

Having Donald J. Trump in the White House is still better than the global corporation Clinton Inc acquiring the US Government. Justice Gorsuch alone is worth it, as is the continued jobs rebound.

But yeah, this disappoints me. President Trump leaves himself open by doing stupid stuff, and I give our Police State Intelligence Complex a better than 50/50 shot of taking him down.

Short of that, we will have to endure 4 years of Trump haters thumping their chests and crowing “See? I told you so!” And I will simply refer them back to my third paragraph. Politics is dirty, slimy business.

Z….”The US ATTORNEYS are appointees….that’s why they can let them all go. But you’re saying the Deputies are career folks?”

Yes indeed they are. What is President Trump and Sessions going to replace all 92 of them with? His political appointees that share his ideology and constitutional views. Unfortunately that applies to past and future Supreme Court appointments too. Thus the constant fighting over their views….which should never be political. But one look at Kagan and Sotomayor that Obama successfully placed on the court….we know are leftists. For shame IMO.

And as far as Bharara ‘s dismissal…he was behaving like a petulant , selfish child.

  10. geeez2014 says:

Actually, it’ll be 46 US Attorneys…all appointees that must be replaced.

  11. Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace points out the Goldman Sachs presence in the admin and the effect the removal of Bharara removes a threat to them.

  12. geeez2014 says:

Ed. that’s conjecture and one has to consider Trump totally corrupt to think he’d fire this guy along with all the rest to think this is the reason.
Obviously, if this is the case, he’s hoodwinked all who voted for him. CNN had a field day with it, by the way, making truly undemonstrable inferences all morning.

I will say, however, that my neighbor told me a gal he knows, a Carnegie relative and very rich, says Trump works with big law firms in NYC(where she lives and her family has a huge lawfirm), gets what he can get, then stiffs them. I heard yesterday on CNN, how he uses firms and doesn’t pay, so don’t think I didn’t put 2 and 2 together with this Wall St Bharara thing….I just can’t let myself ‘go there’ because if it’s the case, we’re DEAD.

ALSO, I think he’d be an idiot to think Americans wouldn’t notice this….
