Sunday Faith Blog

If you could pray one prayer for our country and knew it would come true immediately, please tell us what it would be.

“May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.”  Psalm 141: 2

Blessings, Z

  1. My prayer would be that this nation would have another Great Awakening which would bring about the return of a moral compass.
My prayer would not be that men would be legislated or even forced by God to serve Him, but rather that through example and preaching of the word, men’s and women’s hearts would be turned to him.

  2. bocopro says:

That every person who becomes or works for a member of either house of Congress or the Supreme Court or the White House be required to watch the first reel of Patton on January 1st and July 4th of each year and recite the 10th Amendment every Monday morning upon reporting for work.

  3. geeez2014 says:

Ed, DEFINITELY….I’m not sure anybody’s talked about forcing God on anybody and totally agree that it’s the example of the Word that will turn hearts. I also believe that, because nonbelievers usually don’t take to ‘the word,’ or believe it IS God’s Word (‘the word’ being something they disdain or ignore), it’s the example of believers which make a huge difference …”What makes you calm? What makes you happy? I want what you have… How did that guy in prison become so kind, what changed him?”

Bocopro…excellent choices!! particularly the 10th Amendment! Thanks!

  4. Imp says:

““O Christian, O servant of God, O Christian, O servant of God, there is a Saracen behind me, come and cast him out.”

Little twist on a popular mooslem hadith. The original…”“O Muslim, O servant of Allah, O Muslim, O servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”

  5. Mal says:

The Ten Commandments, esp………..”and the most important of these is Love.”
With Love, everything else is moot.

  6. Bob says:

    Bless our nation.

This is meant to be an all inclusive prayer for all that is going on with our politics, and the world. God always knows what we mean.

  7. Baysider says:

Ed plus as many plusses as I can add!

  8. geeez2014 says:

Baysider. Do you think preaching of the Word is what it will take?

Bob, “Bless our nation” What more can we ask for? Good one.

Mal, so well said. Yes, if all of us loved as we’re instructed to by God….who’d do badly?

Imp; I think that’s extremely clever and extremely telling of the differences in ideologies.

  9. Imp says:

Z…it sure as hell puts it into perspective, doesn’t it? An imam was heard saying this at an mosque in Canada a few days ago. Way to go boy underwear model Trudeau.

  10. geeez2014 says:

Imp, the world is INSANE.l If YOU know the Imam said that about killing Jews, where are the Jews in Toronto who voted for the underwear model?!!!
Imagine a friend of a friend who has dual citizenship voted for Trump and Troudeau?

  11. Imp says:

They liked the combination of opposites? T & T??

  12. I do believe that the preaching of the Word is key.
There is something about the Word that resonates with those who would be saved.
    Like a resonant frequency.

  13. geeez2014 says:

Ed….nobody can downplay the importance of the Word. I guarantee it’s not ‘key’ (at least not at first) with those who don’t think being saved is a serious matter). For someone to say “but the Bible says…” to someone not interested and who doesn’t believe in the Bible, is really defeating….like reading an Audi manual to the guy fixing a Chevy. “What’s it say? That’s nuts….”
The testimonies of people we can share stories of, whose lives were totally changed for coming to a saving faith are life-changing, powerful. Then we start the Word, which will definitely resonate with those who will be saved.
I believe those people are known beforehand, anyway…….sometimes it just takes time and hope, right?

  14. Kid says:

My Prayer…. Let America come to it’s senses and close all the mosques, declaring islam a non-religion, and declaring any islamist along with all democrats the enemy of civilization and cast them all out. Be gone you evil – never to return.

  15. The topic is past, it’s Monday, but I strongly disagree about the power of the Word.
It is no coincidence that Jesus is called the Word made flesh.
The Promise. The whole Bible (the Word) describes Jesus and the salvation He brings.
The right Word at the right time will turn a heart because of the resonance int the heart of the hearer. They will KNOW it is truth. The Holy Spirit works through the Word.

  16. geeez2014 says:

Thanks, Ed. I totally agree with you, can’t imagine you couldn’t know that. I can’t explain again; based on too much experience. I believe Jesus wants us to know our audience, it’s part of some of our gifts from Him, and that to quote Scripture is always powerful and not always received well, even disdained vocally. Changed lives, through the Word, as effective….at which time the Word can do wonders. Thanks…I’m done.

    Kid, VERY good one.
