“Jesus is not my security against the storms of life, but He is my perfect security in the storms.  He has never promised me an easy passage, only a safe landing.”     Some of the wisest, well-put words I’ve ever read.

So many people think bad things shouldn’t happen if God loves us, but life is earthly, evil exists, bad things happen…free will exists.   It’s what happens to us through the dark times that matters.    The paragraph above, from my favorite devotional “Streams in the Desert,” says it all.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”  Deuteronomy 31:8

James 1:12 “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”

We may have suffered greatly ourselves and we know people who’ve withstood tremendous pain, physical and emotional.   Bad things happen, our bodies fail us….but He never will.

“And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest on me.”  2 Corinthians 12:9

Have a blessed Sunday……remember that even through great pain He is there and that seeking His comfort is a comfort in and of itself.  (Make sure you keep scrolling to see a gorgeous picture!)

Amen. Sunday always seems to arrive just in time, and when I most need it. Awesome picture by Ms Z. I would hang that on my wall and charge admission.

Easter is almost upon us once again. A time of contemplation and appreciation for the faith we have.

My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
So true and such a good reminder. Thanks Z

Ed, thanks…SO vitally important to remember He’s still with us even when we’re desperate with pain, emotional or physical. Hard for some to remember “He’s not our butler,” there to alleviate every problem or pain….and that, sometimes, that ‘safe landing’ in the wonderful quote at the top, is …death. Eternal life.

Jerry, I love how you put things…yes, it does arrive just on time. I’m so eager to get to church, which is SO good, such great people, wonderful sermons, and fantastic music….a great morning of study, too…we’re studying Wesley v Calvin! Starting today!
So glad you love that photo, too. I’ll tell her!

    Bunk; it SURE is.

Alec, God bless you…good to have you here after a long break!

    Wishing you a blessed Sunday.

The New Zealand pic is beautiful. My niece went there for her honeymoon and would love nothing better than to move there permanently.

  7. Imp says:

Jesus has left the city and the country…why?

“The Gatestone Institute reports Sunday on the striking rate of closures of churches in the United Kingdom’s capital city, a trend mirrored elsewhere in Europe, and the blooming number of mosques that have been established in their stead.”

Gatestone Institute: 423 New Mosques, 500 Closed Churches in London…

British multiculturalists are feeding Islamic fundamentalism. Above all, Londonistan, with its new 423 mosques, is built on the sad ruins of English Christianity.

The Daily Mail published photographs of a church and a mosque a few meters from each other in the heart of London. At the Church of San Giorgio, designed to accommodate 1,230 worshipers, only 12 people gathered to celebrate Mass. At the Church of Santa Maria, there were 20.

    Why have they abandoned Christ?

  8. geeez2014 says:

Imp; you have it right…Jesus hasn’t gone anywhere, they have abandoned Him. And look what they’ve got for it in the name of KINDNESS, as I so often say. “Gee, it’s so mean to be Christian, it’s exclusive, it’s hateful toward gays and toward any sins….” When, an understanding of Christianity, if anybody delves into it, is so NOT THAT. Sadly, there have been Christian denominations which ARE hateful and misrepresentative of the Truth but…’s NOT HATE. Jesus NEVER EVER PREACHED HATRED TOWARD ANYBODY.
I have to admit I’m surprised at the Daily Mail figures because they say churches are dying in France, too, and Germany, and they’re pretty full.

But, yes….mosques are taking over churches over the Orient and Middle East, too, even in Armenia, the very first Christian nation. God’s giving us enough time to come to him or not.

Cube, Thanks! I ought to publish more of her pictures because she’s got an extraordinary eye. She saw the “Z” in my masthead in a stormy sky and sent me a bunch till I picked this one for the masthead! She loves NZ, too…the politics are LOONY LEFTWING but it’s a gorgeous place for as long as it lasts.
