Always On Watch’s excellent blog has a conversation on the Syria bombings……I disagree with almost every comment made so I’m hoping some of you weigh in on how YOU feel about Trump’s actions.
One thing that’s ‘fun’ for me to see is how Putin is playing our media against the Right… Thinking most Americans hate Trump because he reads the Leftwing media, he’s just stopped a cooperation that allowed planes not to hit each other somehow….I don’t care to know the technicalities, but that’s the drift of it. So now MORE Americans are going to be hysterical with “OUR KIDS AREN’T SAFE! BLAME TRUMP!” (not Assad or Putin…wait for it) Good shot, Vladimir. Also, the rumor now is that an “apparent eye witness” (what’s that MEAN?) says Syria knew about the attacks because he saw things being moved away just before they hit …. So, that goes against Trump’s excellent input on not being another Obama and telling enemies when we’re going to hit ..”SEE? Trump did it, too! Someone found out…another leak in his WH?!” This is how leftwing fake news grows.
Ya, you can see our enemies, Syria, Russia, the Left, all playing together to make US LOOK BAD. Meanwhile, UCLA students chant “AMERICA WAS NEVER GREAT!” Can you blame them when they read OUR MEDIA? Imagine what they’re saying now since this attack? Imagine if ONE innocent person was killed in our very early morning attacks? On the contrary, where were they with terror attacks here in America? Where’s that outrage? That’s my 5 cents…I have plenty more but little time…. Please weigh in. But DO NOT WEIGH IN WITHOUT SEEING THIS:
Am hoping Americans wake up to the fact that ALL OPINIONS should be understood before criticism of anyone.

IMO it had to be done mainly because it involved gassing civilians, esp. babies. That is justification enough to have bombed their air base to prevent more of the same. Period. I believe even the Russians were disgusted by this because they are not Muslims. They are mostly Russian Orthodox Christians.

Mal, they’re starting to get back to faith, yes…it’s taken a while, though there were underground Christian gatherings even while the Iron Curtain still stood, and Putin is a believer, according to an article I read about a cross he always wears in honor of his love for his mother and his baptism….according to his quotes. Right..they are definitely not Muslims.

Seriously doubt any of y’all would agree with my daily rant on the topic. Essentially it sez that DJT bombarded a sovereign nation which has done nothing overtly to the US. If he merely wanted to send a message that the US isn’t on the disabled list and is still the reigning heavyweight champ, O.K.
Li’l Kim Pieface definitely needs to hear it, and so do Rouhani, Assad, and Putin, to name a few; the days of El Precedente Falso with his sidelines make-a-speech leadership are over. But unless his long-range strategy includes an exit plan, which Murkan globocop policy has sorta lost sight of in recent decades (Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan), his strike — which actually IS illegal — could backfire.
I’m MUCH more worried about the influx of “refugees” and Kim’s irrational blustery paranoia than I am what Assad does to his own people.

I have mixed feelings about this. I understand the moral argument very much. I understand we need to destroy every single chemical weapon there’s in the middle east. At the same time we just enabled ISIS and radical jihadists and didn’t help Christians protected by Assad. And we blew a bunch of money for something that won’t solve the mess that the middle east is.
So far Trump is a disappointment to me. Better than Hellary but I feel like his cabinet is being taken over by neo-cons and libs (daughter and Jared.)
I wouldn’t also be surprised if he thought bombing Syria, and going against Russia in a way, would help him look better with all this Russian thing and because he failed on healthcare.

The Syria strike was unnecessary and irresponsible, from the POTUS who promised not to get us more deeply entrenched in foreign entanglements. We have absolutely no national security interest in being in direct confrontation with the Assad regime, or raising the same potential with Russia [in Syria]. But since Trump and the media now think he looks “tough”. I suppose it’s a win for somebody…..just not the American people.

I well remember when Clinton decided to go into the Balkans to stop what was being billed as a genocide. There was no US interests, there, and there was no rational gain to be had. That was my position. However, I came to the conclusion that somebody had to do something. I have never criticized Clinton about bombing the old Yugoslavia after that.
The gassing of Syrian civilians is one more situation where we sit in the comfort of our den and say, somebody ought to do something about that. I believe Trump did act out of mercy, but I also believe he intends to get something out of the event.
Here’s my list of Trump’s gains:
Instant worldwide recognition as a serious US President that should not be aggravated.
Instant rebuttal that he, Trump, is a Putin puppet.
Instant control of the news cycle. Look to see the Russian conspiracy stuff receive less attention.
Instant statement to the little fat guy in North Korea that he is minor league stuff.
Did Donald Trump plan this? No. Is he taking advantage of an opportunity as a leader to get things done? Yes.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

CI….so then using your logic…. Obama was more responsible and a leader by drawing a line in his sandbox, with his crayons, ignoring the carnage,and the gassing which he so vehemently opposed….. which was just one more empty pronouncement by the boy who would be king. No wonder we were not taken seriously and crapped on for 8 years.
Now….about killing. Aerial bombardments, strafing by fighter jets or helicopters, IEDs, machining guns, 30 cal 50 cal, rockets , missels, grenades, AK47, M14 / 16, bayonets, knifing, beheadings, fire, napalm, hangings and so much more are not condemned internationally….. but gas is.

Well…. you damn sure mocked him in my view. When the facts clearly show that Rice, Kerry and Obamas sworn declarations that their red line forced Syria to rid themselves of gas…. should be the ones mocked. Especially Rice who has a real problem with the truth. And they are the suits that have those people’s blood on their hands. Sorry CI…. but I’ll choose to stand by this CIC for the foreseeable future. The previous jug eared one was never my president.

I was thinking that, Bob. Maybe because it’s a cheaper way and it’s more “efficient”? :(( Or because it reminds us of the holocaust. It’s also because the death is slow and painful. Mark Levin had tough footing on people and kids dying in Syria tonight. Assad or ISIS, tough choice. I say get rid of the both but the US has been allying with Sunni muslims for too long.

Con: I don’t want to get into another ME war outside of ridding the world of ISIS. Stomping some number of cockroaches and calling it good is not a sensical plan and did nothing good of any kind of even semi-permanent length of time. And I don’t want our guys babysitting the ME either sacrificing life and limb for no lasting positive.
Pro: I don’t mind sending a messge out to the other nutjobs that we non longer have a moslem loving limpwristed POS in charge.
It would have been nice to have some other countries involved who claim the high ground with human rights but given the nature of the attack would would it have been to haf a Royal Navy destroyer fire off some missles as well.

Like it or not, we are still the world leader that all others look to for leadership and answers, which have been lacking the past 8 years. Hopefully, Trump’s latest action in Syria will re-establish that image. We have to remember, our POTUS may not be experienced in politics, but all his advisors certainly are and I’m sure his actions have been consistent with their advice.

The United States has no interest in Syria. There are no good guys to back. There’s no “solution” to what ails that part of the world, short of another flood. Syria is a mess because it is full of Syrians. The only sane policy is to make sure it remains full of Syrians. Let them kill each other there, not in Paris or Portland. If the Russians want to build their pipeline there and pay the price for it, good for them. If the Saudis want to stop them, best of luck with it. This is not an American problem. It is their problem. Let them own it.
