Trump and Russia and our Intel….not good

Did Trump ask anybody to stifle evidence of Russian collusion?  Most people think there was no collusion, including bigwigs in Intel, but some are saying “not so fast.”

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats declined to comment Tuesday on the report that President Donald Trump asked him to publicly deny evidence of cooperation between his campaign and Russia during the 2016 election.

I couldn’t listen long to the video because McCain was questioning Coats and I can’t listen to McCain anymore, but it’s BAD, folks.   Dan Coats is miserable about testifying and says he won’t unless it’s private.

SO, if/when it is proven there was a connection or request Coats clearly thinks was inappropriate, and Brennan says so, too, what then?  How serious is it?

I can’t believe even some Conservatives are talking about impeachment…NOW?  4 MONTHS after the inauguration?

I believe Coats’ reply was proper, but the question is typical of McCain, who I believe is a certifiable idiot.

  2. In bureaucratic parlance, declining to comment is most often tacit admission. If true, this is yet another example of Trump not acting in a manner commensurate with his office……..abuse of power and obstruction of justice. This alleged revelation comes on a day when Trump makes an unsolicited call to the leader of the terrorist regime in the Philippines, and congratulates said leader on the mass murder of his citizens.

This is certainly not a boring Administration……

We’re in avery sad place as a country if every utterance of the POTUS UNDER SUCH SCRUTINY THAT IT’S POTENTIALLY IMPEACHABLE? What utter nonsense that’s clearly political muck if that’s anywhere near possible. Here’s a guy through all his life can slap adversary or a unpin boss and say..” Come on Alphonse, we can get through this can’t we? We don’t need to go there, do we?” I mean common guys his casual easiness with words are hardly bribes, threats or a criminal offense, from a guy who wasn’t handed a handbook or a manual on “What to say and not say as President to staff, subordinates, cabinet members, ladies, potentates or enemies!”. Jesus Christ…how utterly stupid do we look to our real adversaries, enemies of this country and treasonous scum….the DemRat party of totally rotten fish who like children couldn’t successfully overcome the will of the people and manipulate the election to their pre conceived outcome. They began this shit on November 9th for gods sake.

@CI … Ah, how sweet the aroma of ultra-nationalism. I’m guessing that Duarte is following the Uncle Ho Manifesto … which is to vigorously pursue whatever works. On the other hand, perhaps Duarte is the only chap who’ll return Trump’s call … 🙂

  6. Mustang – Good points, but Dutarte has far bigger problems in his own backyard, meaning Mindanao. He’s allowing his pet project to imperil his national security. Don’t be at all surprised to see ISIS affiliates conducting a Manchester-style attack in Manila in the coming weeks.

  7. Context.
If there was no collusion, it wouldn’t be inappropriate for Trump to ask Coats to says there wasn’t.
Just like it wasn’t inappropriate to ask Comey to treat Flynn the same way he did Clinton.
And even Dershowitz claims Trump could have broken no law as their is no law governing this.

IF it’s already been found to true, that there was no collusion, then you’re correct, Ed. Given that there is an ongoing investigation…..it is entirely inappropriate.

When even Alan dershowitz says there is no crime why are we going there?

Mustang, as I’ve said several times the last few days, I believe public hearings are NOT the place to answer these questions but I do sense that Coats’ reaction showed he hates what he IS going to have to divulge.

Imp; I think we are looking REALLY stupid to our enemies, no doubt about it.

CI…Duarte? I just woke up, it’s 7 AM here….does he live in ROME? I thought that’s where Trump was now.

Ed, “no cooperation” has really NOT been shown……interesting that words change, isn’t it? Collusion, Cooperation, Communication, etc. Even last night, Martha McCallum said the words change as soon as the WH proves something….it’s going from more evil, like COLLUSION , shown not to have happened, to COOPERATION…….the Left keeps moving the bar with the terminology to make sure Trump’s still in the wrong.

bocopro…I saw no cartoons in that link but explanations of the cartoon…??

Re the MANCHESTER MURDERS, I am so sick of hearing ALL the details of what the cops are doing to FIND OUT WHO HE IS, as if that will help ….we’ll have a total character sketch of this monster (excuse me, ‘loser’), every detail of his life, and then some other loser will do this somewhere else and we’ll find out about him, too. It’s the same thing over and over again, and we don’t stop the next one. How can we? No country has the numbers of law enforcement that can catch every monster. One monster, known to the cops who are unable or unwilling to arrest on the incomplete info they have, followed by 20 cops to watch him every day, interview friends, listen at his mosque, etc?…trying to be proactive? Just can’t work.

CI, you parse words pretty strictly here to me and my readers…you used the word “congratulate” , I didn’t, and I said I doubt Trump called Dutarte to congratulate him…. I am not saying he should have called this man. I don’t know what reason he might have for doing that but there could be something. He IS still the leader of the Philippines, right? The PHL government produced a document telling the world about Dutarte having murdered many Filipinos? How’d they pull that off without getting killed themselves by Dutarte thugs? And, maybe his vow to fight ISIS is why Trump contacted him?

bocopro..PERFECT cartoon…sorry it wouldn’t publish but you described it well. And yes, they’ll just keep getting more and more specialists in until the Left somehow can find SOME way to make Trump look like he did just what they want him to have done.

All good points above. I’m still waiting to see how this all comes out in the end. No one ever said this administration was going to be boring, did they?
And, keep in mind what our alternative would’ve been like and I’ll still stick with Trump, and remember Obama was in touch with Putin, too, so they can’t bring Russia’s bad record against Trump w/o involving the previous administration who incidentally was in office during all this supposed interference with our election. Funny how blind the left can be!

Tho Milady spends much of her time watching fluff stuff out of Manila (soaps, singing, talk shows), I rarely pay any attention to what’s happening over there any more.

Spent 9 years of my life in the country (all in Luzon) and enjoyed it. IMO, Mindanao should never have been any part of the national construct by either the Spanish or the Americans. It is thoroughly unlike the rest of the nation in culture, religion, and even language. It’s more like Indonesia while Luzon is much like California.

Roughly a third of the 22 million people on Mindanao are Muslim, and very few of them are comfortable with the national language (Tagalog), preferring to use Cebuano and related dialects. It is a rich island, but primarily agrarian, seafood, and timber-based economy. Very little manufacturing or export from other industries, most of which are cottage or village style.

I’ve asked local first- and second-generation Filipinos here in Pensacola what they think of Duterte’s efforts to clean up the drug problem. Ideas range from “Good for him” to “It’s about time” to “He’s a thug” and “Somebody’s gonna shoot him.”

What I hear is that opposition to his extra-judicial practices and snap decisions is fairly widespread, but suppressed because of fear of reprisal. Long-time US resident Filipinos have little fear, but are often clannish and close-lipped when mga kano are listening.

Some call him the “Donald Trump” of the P.I.” while others say he’s an ignorant and brutal simpleton who’s not playing with a full deck. I say he’s playing China, Russia, and US against each other to see what he can get in aid and grants from each in some kind of teasing game of now-you-see-me/now-you-don’t cheap statesmanship.

He needs to be V-E-R-Y careful how he deals with China on the Spratley Island claim, tho. He could find himself staring up the wrong end of a very large, dirty beast if he crosses the wrong lines.

I won’t be surprised if he turns up dead or disappeared one day from either cardiac or jihadi arrest. Wouldn’t rule out a ventilated cranium, either.
