Five Ethics for Life:

LISTEN…before you speak

EARN……before you spend

THINK…. before you write

TRY………..before you quit

LIVE……….before you die.

I loved these and wanted to share them with you….I think they’re excellent.

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”  Philippians 4:13

Have a great Sunday…feel strengthened, think about the above….they steer us in a good direction.

    Hey . . . . . ! If I hadda think before I write, I’d never get anything said.

Closing stanza to a poem I wrote lotsa years ago —

It’s like my granpa told me, “Son,
when you have seen your whole life run
    and never upset anyone,
you haven’t got much said or done.”

Another oldie comes to mind…….”Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
Y’all can probably remember some others, too.

My maternal grandparents raised me ’til I was 12. They’d already raised 8 kids, mostly during the Great Depression, so they had distilled aphorisms and homilies down to smooth concentrated essences.

One day for no apparent reason, while we were eating home-made ice cream on the porch, my grandfather laid this profound bit of wisdom on me: “Boy, remember this — never sleep with the hired help.”

My pre-adolescent mind conjured up an image of bunking with ranch hands in a line shack somewhere in Montana or Texas or whatever. The wisdom of that caveat didn’t put flame to the fuse on the bomb he’d laid in my mind until I’d become a division officer of young Navy men and women . . . and I marveled at the foresight of his sagacity in that offhand augury.

One of my mom’s favorites. She used to write scriptural references on little pieces of paper where she knew I would find them. I am convinced that she prayed for me and my siblings ceaselessly until the day she died. Another of her favorites was II Timothy 2:15, a reference she wrote in the front of the Bible she gave me as a birthday gift as a young teen.

Don’t get you honey where you get your money just makes sense.

2 Timothy 2:15 “15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

Bob, that’s a great one for any young teen. Thanks. I’m convinced she prayed for you, too.

Mal, we had the service for your sister today at my Mom’s church….Please EMAIL me your full address….I’d like to send you the bulletin. I’m so glad I was able to go today.

Bocopro…part of me thinks that’s right and the other half thinks we’re ALWAYS going to upset SOMEONE, but better to try NOT TO! :-)?

  7. bocopro says:

“better to try NOT TO! :-)?”

Yeah, well . . . that’s what my grandmother told me. She was a purist; my grandfather was a pragmatist.

Bocop; this is funny! I wonder where THAT came from!? “Boy, remember this — never sleep with the hired help.” You’re not related to Thomas Jefferson, ARE YOU? 🙂

“You’re not related to Thomas Jefferson, ARE YOU? 🙂”

Seriously doubt it. Looked up some of my ancestry one time and found nothing worthy of bragging about. One guy was considered a hero for leaping in front of his commanding officer and stopping a piece of chain fired from a cannon as grape shot . . . way back in German history.

Wish I’d written down all those pearls of wisdom my grandfather put out, usually at evening meal or on the porch in summertime. Still remember lots of ’em. Another one was, “If you find yourself in a job which is turnin you into somebody you wouldn’t want to have dinner with, get out of it and find another job.”

The one about the hired help came back in crescendo when I found myself in charge of a large group of technicians in Hawaii, about half of which were women. A few of them tried to set themselves up with me, get me to play favorites, perhaps get me into compromising situations. That’s when the old man’s voice began ringing in my ears.

Managed to maintain my cool, although I did play surrogate father to one of ’em and walked her down the aisle at her wedding. Another broke her leg, so the wife and I took her in while she mended ’cause we didn’t like the group she hung out with. She was only 2 or 3 years older than my daughters. Good kid with bad judgment.

Once the naughty and scheming ones got it through their heads that I wasn’t gonna play games with ’em, they turned off the waterworks and the suggestive smiles and went to work like good sailors. Can’t blame ’em for tryin, I guess.

Haitian official was to testify next week on misappropriation charge..

WASHINGTON — Klaus Eberwein, a former Haitian government official who was expected to testify against alleged Clinton Foundation corruption and malpractice next week, has been found dead in Miami via gunshot wound to the head.

The death was ruled a suicide. Eberwein was 50 and reportedly told acquaintances he feared for his life for his fierce criticism of the Clinton Foundation.

How many people do YOU know who have died mysteriously? Not as many as the Clintons! Check out WND’s explosive report, “‘Clinton death list’: 33 spine-tingling cases.”

Eberwein was due to appear next Tuesday before the Haitian Senate Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission where he was widely expected to testify that the Clinton Foundation misappropriated Haiti earthquake donations from international donors.

He had served as director general of the Haitian government’s economic development agency, Fonds d’assistance économique et social, for three years.

According to Eberwein, a paltry 0.6 percent of donations granted by international donors to the Clinton Foundation with the express purpose of directly assisting Haitians actually ended up in the hands of Haitian organizations. A further 9.6 percent ended up with the Haitian government. The remaining 89.8 percent – or $5.4 billion – was funneled to non-Haitian organizations.

“The Clinton Foundation, they are criminals, they are thieves, they are liars, they are a disgrace,” Eberwein said at a protest outside the Clinton Foundation headquarters in Manhattan last year.

Now more than ever, Bill and Hill are “Partners in Crime.” Jerome Corsi reveals “The Clintons’ scheme to monetize the White House for personal profit.”

According to the Haiti Libre newspaper, Eberwein was said to be in “good spirits,” with plans for the future. His close friends and business partners are shocked by the idea he may have committed suicide.

“It’s really shocking,” said friend Gilbert Bailly. “We grew up together; he was like family.”

The Haitian government issued an official notice thanking Eberwein for his service and mourning his untimely death.

  12. geeez2014 says:

Imp! WOW…..ho AWFUL..yes, the Haitians are said to be asking where all the “money for Haiti” is…and now this? My niece landed there yesterday…gets home next Saturday….humanitarian work with her church and others…
I think this can only be murder…what else is new, right?

Bocopro…your Grandad sounds like he was quite a guy! I gather you got my Thomas Jefferson connection! Sally Hemmings, and OTHERS! ?

  13. Kid says:

IMP, Haiti, yea perfect fit. the clinton foundation didn’t foward a dime to the people of Haiti. Word is they gave some money to some friends to start a business on the other side of the island that no doubt returns money to these garbage vermin and didn’t provide a pair of flip flops to the needy. Somebody got to take these ***** down. Come on Sessions. Come on new FBI chief. Capone wasn’t even running a lemonade stand comapred to these vermin.

  14. Kid says:

Maybe we spread tons of social media stuff sying the clintons are being extremely offensive to kim jong pun and not only that but have hired assassins to go take him out.

  15. Bob says:

KId: Good idea. Just tell Kim the Un that Bill Clinton is telling fat-ass donkey jokes about him.
