THIS FASCINATED ME!!! A Judge is offering shortened terms if the inmate has a vasectomy! Or birth control implants…
What do you think of this?! Legal? Ethical? Good idea to prevent kids coming into the world with a con dad? WHAT?

The chief danger that confronts the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost,
Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration,
politics without God, heaven without hell.
William Booth
“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.”
― William Saroyan
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. -- Winston Churchill

I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else. C. S. Lewis
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

THERE WILL BE NO THREATS OF ANY KIND AT THIS BLOG, TO POLITICIANS OR OTHER COMMENTERS. thank you.
“Such a choice violates the fundamental constitutional right to reproductive autonomy and bodily integrity by interfering with the intimate decision of whether and when to have a child, imposing an intrusive medical procedure on individuals who are not in a position to reject it.”
Which of the 7 articles of the US Constitution do you think this ACLU lawyer is talking about? Any time I hear someone speak about “fundamental rights,” I’m thinking that this is either a stretch of some lawyer’s imagination, because there is money to be made in a law suit, or total liberal BS designed to change the Constitution into something of their own choosing.
The question: is it legal? Yes … in the same way that convicted sex offenders are chemically castrated. The difference is that in this case, the individual receiving the operation has agreed to it. a thirty day reduction in sentence does not seem much like coercion to me.
The question: is it ethical? Yes … again, it is a contractural agreement between a person and the state government. I am not sure I understand why women are only fixed for four years, though.

I find the concept disgusting! The judge should be disbarred.

It is extortion.

While chemical castration is supposed to curb sexual predatory criminal behavior, there is no linkage between the proposed sentencing variation and the crime committed.
Like FJ daid. Eugenics.

I sort of agree with Bocopro, that this is a contractual arrangement between Citizen and State, but I don’t think it would pass a higher judicial review, re: 8th Amendment. It’s rather dotted line to draw between a crime committed, and this option being a component of deterrence or rehabilitation.

Here was the part that got ME: “But Benningfield, who declined to speak to NBC News, told News Channel 5 that he is trying to encourage “personal responsibility” among inmates, who will not “be burdened with children” when they are released.:”
Wait….”be burdened with children?” (Smacks of Obama’s saying he didn’t want his girls burdened by having kids, remember…but I digress)….
“Be burdened with children” seems to me to be a liberals translation of “no kids will born and have no father involved, no PAYING father”
And yes…THIRTY DAYS? I could see 3 YEARS maybe, to give up your fertility, but 30 DAYS?
CI, that was Mustang who wrote the Bocopro-length comment this time! And it’s a good one, you’re right.
I feel that it’s ethical and legal IF THE INMATES ARE FULLY AWARE OF WHAT’S GOING ON. it’s a CHOICE. Is it coercion? Probably… Will less kids probably be scarred by hit-and-run ‘fathering’ (I hesitate to say FATHER because fathering is a lifelong job not a quick roll in the hay which makes a pregnancy)

Off Topic, I just saw this quote by Limbaugh on FB “The number of illegal immigrants that are coming into the country is down so sharply that the sanctuary city people are in a panic, and the Democrat Party is in a panic, because that’s where they get the replenishing of their current underclass. They need a permanent underclass of people dependent on government.”

OFF TOPIC AGAIN:
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/343254-ivanka-trump-has-made-at-least-126-million-since-2016
So Ivanka’s supposed to NOT make big money now that her father’s pres and she advises him?
Are the Trumps to sell ALL THEIR HOLDINGS? The inferences in LOTS of articles about Trump and his kids seem to say that….it stuns me. Are leftwingers SO averse to prosperity?
Is Ivanka supposed to publish a big ad saying “Please don’t buy my stuff anymore, it makes me look rich!”???

I’m willing to bet that, although the surgery will cost the tax payers initially, in the long run it will be a tax savings. However, I’m somewhat puzzled by the fixed 30 day incentive bit. I think there should be some flexibility there to increase participation.

JMB…BIG tax savings in the long run, I think so, too.
I think there should be more flexibility, too. 30 days is nothing!

Its a choice given to them, not a mandate. They don’t have to do it, but are being given the option. Remember, we’re talking about people who are incarcerated for committing a crime so I don’t see it as being illegal.

This stuff happened in White County, Tennessee, basically a rural neighbor to Nashville. When I was a young man, there was a Tennessee state representative that introduced a bill into the state assembly to sterilize welfare recipients. This idea got some support among radicals, but was knocked down quickly. I am surprised that this county seems to be getting away with the idea, too.
However, an approach like this doesn’t hold a candle to the Eugenics advocated by Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger, a major advocate of Eugenics. The first Planned Parenthod birth control offices were located in black metropolitan ghettos. Civil rights leaders at that time caught on pretty quick labeling the tactics as genocide. I believe one of these leaders was Malcolm X. Jesse Jackson was probably in on the deal, too. Why has Jackson changed his mind?

I am thinking that all forms of our gov’t is getting way too involved in our private lives. Before we know it, we are going to have to ask if it’s our turn to use the toilet? I don’t know what is going to happen to our kids and grandkids. I do know, the right is the party that is reproducing, and that is a great thing. My oldest son and DIL are expecting #8, and they are homeschooling their kids, teaching them kindness and responsibility. He works 2 jobs to pay the bills and get insurance for his family. We, as a nation, need to go back to the constitution, and state rights, in my humble opinion.
