Change …you or them? The MILITARY

The comment below is so SPOT ON and priceless!  No, the military is not an equal opportunity employer, thank God.

Great reasons why Trump is right…again!
Nobody has a “right” to serve in the Military. Nobody.
What makes people think the Military is an equal opportunity employer? Very far from it.
The Military uses prejudice regularly and consistently to deny citizens from joining for being too old or too young, too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short.
Citizens are denied for having flat feet, or for missing or additional fingers. Poor eyesight will disqualify you, as well as bad teeth. Malnourished? Drug addiction? Bad back? Criminal history? Low IQ? Anxiety? Phobias? Hearing damage? Six arms? Hear voices in your head? Self-identify as a Unicorn? Need a special access ramp for your wheelchair? Can’t run the requred course in the required time? Can’t do the required number of pushups?
Not really a “morning person” and refuse to get out of bed before noon?
All can be reasons for denial.
The Military has one job. War. Anything else is a distraction and a liability.
Did someone just scream “That isn’t Fair”? War is VERY unfair, there are no exceptions made for being special or challenged or socially wonderful.
YOU change yourself to meet Military standards. Not the other way around.
I say again: You don’t change the Military.. you must change yourself.
The Military doesn’t need to accommodate anyone with special issues. The Military needs to Win Wars.
If any of your personal issues are a liability that detract from readiness or lethality.. Thank you for applying and good luck in future endeavors. Who’s next in line?

I didn’t write that…I’d love your input…agree with it, don’t?  CI? Mustang?  Anybody else want to chime in?

Oh, but just think . . . how much deeper the drama, how much pithier the pathos, how heartwarming the heroism if the John Wayne character in “Sands of Iwo Jima” were portrayed as a gender-reassigned black Muslim shemale.

Imagine the vicarious fulfillment the viewer would achieve if the Robert Duvall role in “Apocalypse Now” were done by Bradley Manning or the Henry Fonda performance in “Mister Roberts” were done by Kristen Beck or “Run Silent, Run Deep” with Elton John in the Burt Lancaster role.

I mean, who wouldn’t stand in line for hours to get a ticket to see “The Caine Mutiny” redone with The Village People and Ian McKellen as Queeg.

And consider the heights of social awareness and justice that would be achieved by remaking “The Dirty Dozen” with Chaz Bono, Bruce Jenner, Ellen DeGeneres, Christine Jorgensen, Mike Penner, Renee Richards, Anderson Cooper, Neil Patrick Harris, Lana & Lilly Wachowski, and Truman Capote.

We’re missing SO much by not sharing the insights and perspectives of one-tenth of one percent of the population.

As Woodsterman has up in a two-frame lib-logic jpg today – “transgenders have high suicide rates, suffer from PTSD, and need our support . . . so let’s send them into combat.”

  2. Our military should not and must not be used as a social experiment. Social experimentation cripples our military’s ability to be combat ready.

  3. fredd says:

We’ve been experimenting with social issues in the military for quite awhile now: women side by side with men in foxholes. Hasn’t worked too well so far. But we still seem to be going with this experiment and looking the other way at the results (which are crappy).

  4. Unlike racial, gender and homosexual integration, which though had hurdles initially, has not resulted in any appreciable impact on readiness, morale or espirit de corps….the medical reasons that Mustang [I think] had laid out previously, either here or at his site……make the integration of prospective or current ‘transgendered’ service-people problematic, from a purely medical standpoint.

The military, contrary to common myth, appreciates and rewards individual initiative….but only in the context of accomplishing the mission. Changing one’s gender….does not support this endstate.

  5. geeez2014 says:

CI, I think that’s right….if it does not support the endstate of accomplishing a mission, it can’t happen.

Did you hear that Trump’s now saying Russian relations with us are “at an all time low”? Not sure if he’s heard of the Cold War. Paul Begala on CNN just said “I hate to call my president a liar, but he is a LIAR….he once told a group that he could shoot someone and he’d win, well , Cheney shot someone and won…and our president now is playing to his base and he’s a liar”
“Cheney shot someone and won?” As if he that accident was for a political point?!
APparently, Trump’s been lying about the wall, saying stuff about Mexico that’s patently untrue….
What I’m seeing now is he is HYPERBOLIC in his speech…we’ve all seen him call EVERY family who’s lost a family member to opiodes or war or whatever, a “GREAT FAMILY”….I personally don’t think a loss makes a whole family “Great”…but I use this as an example of his hyperbole…and that doesn’t really bother SANE people but the Left completely jumps on it and uses this hyperbole…ugh.

fredd..agreed. GOOD TO SEE YOU!! Also, there was an article I posted recently that said women in the military need to get used to showering with men. Well, ya know? Men never know if they might wake up and feel like a girl that day, right?! GEEEEZ\

Bocopro…PRICELESS comment! Yes, it’d be very hard to see The Cain Mutiny with The Village People! It’s one of my fave films and I shuddered as I read that! Well made points, as usual!\

AOW…I read somewhere that some military were worried because it’s only NORMAL that a transgender is going to be very interested in HOW HE/SHE LOOKS and how dangerous it is to think a brother in arms is checking his mirror instead of checking your back, you know?

  6. geeez2014 says:

SO SOME REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS are fighting to make sure the President can’t fire a special counsel…like Mueller. I agree it’d look TERRIBLE for him to fire him but do they not know there’s a LAW, a specific LAW, against a special counsel knowing well a person involved in a case? Mueller and Comey are fast friends, mentor, etc;… and the Hillary connections in all the lawyers Mueller’s appointed to work with him are LEGION.

WOW….weird Republicans would do this alongside their Democrat counterparts.

  7. geeez2014 says:

So now leaked conversations between Trump and Australia’s PM, which shed HORRID light on Trump, have been revealed…only possible from the WH. WHO?
    This is horrible……….

And Russia’s Medvedev just FB’d something about Trump that’s so awful…..I’m totally CONVINCED that they are reading our media and capitalizing on it…trying to drive an even bigger wedge between Trump and everyone else. USING US AGAINST OURSELVES…and doing really well at it.

And, of course, Europe only gets our LEFTWING MEDIA NEWS> I met a German Saturday evening and he heard me say that the Germans and French only get their journalists aping what they’re reading in the Leftwing American media and he totally agreed with me, also agreeing that German journalists are getting the big bucks only in translating English to German…hate for the Right. They’re pulling the wool over their editors…

    THis is really disheartening.

I can’t BELIEVE the Wa Po got leaked phone conversations……that’s REALLY BAD when a president feels he can’t even converse with other world leaders, or ANYBODY..??

And now they’re belittling Trump for going on a vacation for 17 days, because he once asked what the point of vacations was.
They use ANYTHING against him and this is the type of thing he SHOULD have a response to, like
“You know, I did say that, and I was wrong, man! This job takes a lot of concentration, a lot of focus, and it’s a big job for ANYONE and presidents need some time off, too….But, as you all know, a Presidential vacation isn’t exactly a total vacation….I’ll be totally hooked in all the time..”

Instead he’ll Tweet something like “I never SAID THAT, no matter what sound you’ve got on me, the fake news people need to get the facts!” 😦

  8. If you think you were issued the wrong genitalia at birth, you must think you have a serious birth defect. Too serious too enlist.

  9. John M. Berger says:

GREAT ARTICLE! It’s quite true that the military isn’t some kind of social experiment in spite of some bull$#!t I’ve read to the contrary. This is going out to many.

  10. Baysider says:

That fact that this is even a topic for discussion says a lot of bad things about our culture. It’s just too obvious. Ed + 1

  11. Mustang says:

    Thanks, Z … 🙂

My point of view was expressed at Thoughts From Afar.
