The chief danger that confronts the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost,
Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration,
politics without God, heaven without hell.
William Booth
“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.”
― William Saroyan
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. -- Winston Churchill

I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else. C. S. Lewis
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

Z, Yea, I still remember most of the words to those two songs and that was a while ago. He could play a little guitar too.

Ya, Kid…I think he said something like how he was an overnight sensation that took 20 years because he was a backup musician for big names for many years before becoming a vocalist/star!

I hadn’t heard that he passed, Z. Yeah, I always enjoyed his singing those tunes you mentioned, too. I’ve never been much of a country western guy, but he was an exception.

We lost one of the greats. He was one of the busiest studio musicians throughout the 60’s performing with the Byrds, Beach Boys and many more. In 1968 he even out sold the Beatles.
I loved seeing him on the Tonight Show.
A country music/crossover legend.

Some of the people I recognize in that vid. Chet Atkins right ar the start. Roy Clark holding a guitar. Willie Nelson. Glen was appreciated by the biggest names.

Just a few weeks ago his daughter gave a touching update to Rolling Stone that he was living in a nice nursing home and had lost his language skills but – in contrast to situations too close to my heart – he was cheerful and smiles without the characteristic confusion and agitation. That was indeed a blessing. When he died she could say “I owe him everything I am, and everything I ever will be.” What a lovely tribute to a parent.

Nice memory Baysider. Some people deserve a little more in passing. Chet Atkins and Dolly Parton were Great friends (he produced her) and she was at his bedside very late in his life and they laughed it up quite a bit as an example. A lot better than taking you last breath in a gutter in San Francisco..
I hope I’m afforded a smile on the way out.

Talk about smiles on the way out…a friend shared that she had a fantastically funny and adorable aunt who was elderly and bed ridden…and dying…..Finally, in her final day or so, she rallied as so many do and was entertaining friends and family from her bed, everyone laughing, etc., and she came out with “I’m going to MISS MYSELF!”
Cracks me up every time I think of it!

Wow, a man deserving of the word “legendary”. His “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother”….well, my eyes get a little wet. And the only other song that does that is “Ave Maria” by Pavarotti. Rest in peace, Glen.

We’ll see him again and he won’t have any afflictions.
