Putin on No. Korea….

WHY DIDN’T TRUMP  AND HIS STAFF THINK OF THAT?

(Plenty of sarcasm in my sentence above, of course)

DO YOU THINK TRUMP WOULD EVER NUKE NORTH KOREA?
WHAT WOULD IT TAKE?

ARE THERE LESS THAN NUCLEAR-STYLE BOMBS THAT WE CAN PINPOINT CERTAIN AREAS IN NORTH KOREA WITH AND NOT KILL THOUSANDS OF NO KOREANS?

  1. 1) Any picture of well-dressed well-fed NoKos is a picture of the ruling elite.
    2) Any attack, nuclear or conventional (MOABs) would trigger an artillery attack on greater Seoul and an invasion of the south and perhaps a nuclear response.

If we (and our allies) were a praying nation(s) there might be a chance of concerted prayer defeating Un et al.

There are circumstances from which the United States might unleash a nuclear response, such as a direct attack on the United States, its territories, or its allies. As for saving the North Korean people from utter destruction, I really don’t know how one would do that once a decision was made to launch a retaliatory strike. The general philosophy is that if the North Korean people had really wanted to save themselves from atomic annihilation, then they should have themselves thrown off the shackles of an oppressive and globally dangerous regime —maybe around 60 years ago.

What Ed suggested (above) is true, which proves these two things: first, the longer one delays in dealing with a bully, the more acute the situation becomes. Today we come face-to-face with the legacy of Democrat Truman, who wanted to avoid a nuclear confrontation at a time when the USA was he only country with a significant nuclear arsenal. Second, it proves that the United States hasn’t had a very robust diplomatic corps since Elihu Root ….

Mustang is right. What we have now is a Truman legacy.

Truman made the decision to fire McArthur who wanted to take the war to China, and stop all this foolishness then. The problem was that there were about 38,000 American soldiers killed there, and we didn’t have the appetite for a continuing war. China was weak, then, and outside of a few million peasants in padded pajamas and cheap tennis shoes to throw into a fight, didn’t have the resources to oppose us.

We do have the military strength to take on the NOKO’s, but as everybody notes, the South Koreans would get hit badly. Kim Jong Un would be suicidal in his fight, and would probably try to use nuclear weapons. There is just no way a military conflict will end well for Koreans.

I don’t know exactly what is coming next, but it can’t be good. How and why did we ever get to this point anyway? Yes, as was pointed out above, Truman could’ve circumvented all this at the time, but after ending a war on two fronts, folks just didn’t have the appetite for more lives and bloodshed. However, more could have and should have been done since that time, also. We keep kicking the can down the road on more than just our budget and national debt.

JMB…isn’t it astonishing? As if PUTIN needs to tell us THAT?

Mal, we got to this point because president have been TOTAL WIMPS and so have the areas around NoKo…like SoKo and Japan and China….

Bob, what could we have DONE in China back then, though?? I’d love to know what you’re thinking here…

Mustang “robust diplomatic core?” We have ex-soap opera queens as ambassadors in America. In Europe, people school and then train for diplomacy. BIG different…we give diplomatic positions to friends of presidents. And we stay in the UN and actually listen to what they say as they despise us and do all they can to screw us and Israel. And we pay for that. What jerks we are.

Bocopro…LET’S DO IT! (and this missile is GERMAN made, of course!) I’m ALL for it…I found the article headline , as usual, not correct; it says “wipe out the north” but the article implies “pinpoint”…getting KIM and the nukes at whatever facility he’s visiting.
    Thanks for that fascinating link.

Ed the picture is a total JOKE…yes, it’s probably a Kim relative (well, it’s BOUND to be since nearly everyone in Korea is a PARK or a KIM (We had 3 Asian teachers at the school I’m associated with, two were Korean and named KIM!)
