Every Liberal Should Read This…but, alas….like a cross to a werewolf

LONG BUT  WELL WORTH IT:
President Trump seems to have stirred up a hornet’s nest of opposition with his call for athletes who don’t respect the national anthem to be fired.  Many NFL owners and players who were previously indifferent seem to have rallied to the Colin Kaepernick cause.

Kaepernick, of course, considers his protest to be a cry against slavery and racial oppression, for which he holds America to be the guilty party.  Kaepernick’s allies seem to be standing—or rather kneeling—for the right to protest, in opposition not necessarily to America but certainly to President Trump.

So was Trump’s call to action a mistake?  Trump seems to have acted instinctively, and yet here I propose to show his instincts are right on.  Without drawing on either ideology or history, Trump senses that the Left and the Democrats are pushing a big lie. And he’s right.

Yet historically, this gets things upside down. Who is the actual party of racism and oppression? The Democrats. Who is the actual party that resisted oppression? The Republicans.

The Democratic Left, symbolized by Kaepernick, seeks to portray themselves in resistance to oppression.  In this view, Trump represents the party of oppression (bad America) and they represent the party of liberation (good America).  Kneeling at games is intended to convey a refusal to go along with American racism and oppression.

Yet historically, this gets things upside down.  Who is the actual party of racism and oppression?  The Democrats.  Who is the actual party that resisted oppression?  The Republicans.

Here are a few unassailable facts to consider:

–While the secession debate was between the North and the South, the slavery debate was between a pro-slavery Democratic Party and an anti-slavery Republican Party.

–Two of the three Democrats that Lincoln identified as the champions of slavery—Stephen Douglas and James Buchanan—were Northerners.  Only one, Roger Taney, was a Southerner.

–Even after Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, the Democratic platform in 1864 sought a treaty with the Confederacy that would most likely involve a restoration of slavery.

–After the Civil War, the Democrats overwhelmingly opposed the Thirteenth Amendment freeing the slaves, the Fourteenth Amendment granting equal rights under law, and the Fifteenth Amendment giving blacks the right to vote.

–Jim Crow is entirely a legacy of the Democratic Party.  Every segregation law enacted in the South was passed by a Democratic legislature, signed by a Democratic governor, and enforced by Democratic officials.

–After Republicans shut it down in the late nineteenth century, the Ku Klux Klan was revived in the early twentieth century by a progressive Democratic president, Woodrow Wilson, who screened a pro-KKK movie in the White House.

–For decades the Klan served, in the words of progressive historian Eric Foner, as “the domestic terrorist arm of the Democratic Party.”  David Duke is an anomaly; virtually every KKK leader for the past 150 years has been a Democrat.  (Z:  I have to interject that it’s interesting David Duke’s name is the only one most of us know in conjunction with the Klan…sure shows media and teacher bias)

–As historian Ira Katznelson shows, in order to get the New Deal passed, progressive icon Franklin Delano Roosevelt made deals with racist Democrats to block anti-lynching legislation and to exclude African Americans from most New Deal programs.

–More Republicans than Democrats proportionately voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the Fair Housing Bill of 1968.  The main opposition to the civil rights movement came not from the GOP but from racist Democrats.

So are Democrats who pull down Confederate statues and protest the national anthem admitting the historical sins of their party?  Are these acts of honest public disclosure and humble contrition?

Not at all.  They are actually part of the Left’s big lie.  The big lie is to take the historical crimes of the Democratic Party and project them onto someone else.  Let’s blame America.  Let’s blame the South.  Let’s blame the white man.  Let’s blame everyone except the people who actually committed those crimes.   (Z:  WHAT?  How about LET’S BLAME REPUBLICANS?)

The reason for targeting confederate statues is to make the South, not the Democrats, carry the burden for slavery.  The reason for kneeling during the national anthem is to pretend that America, not the Democrats, is responsible for racial oppression.

“America” didn’t do these things.  Some Americans—namely Democrats—carried out that oppression and other Americans—namely Republicans—fought and eventually stopped them.

Why should the Republican Party, which ended slavery, fought segregation, shut down the Ku Klux Klan, and enabled the Civil Rights Revolution of the 1960s, feel an ounce of guilt for its honorable history?

The GOP, not the Democrats, are the true resistance to racial oppression.  In 1860, Lincoln defined slavery as “you work, I eat.”  Lincoln called the Republicans the party of opportunity and the Democrats the party of enslavement.  Not much has changed.  The central platform of the Democratic Party today is still, “You work, I eat.”

More adept at throwing a ball than reading a book, Colin Kaepernick may not know any of this.  But the leaders of the Democratic Party certainly do.  So they are using suckers like Kaepernick to pin the racist tail on the Republican elephant instead of where it truly belongs, on the Democratic donkey.  end.

I think Trump’s comments were a mistake … from the standpoint of an American-hating liberal. The other side of this coin seems to have had considerable effect on NFL finances. I’ll just offer this: the president owns the bully pulpit and his message, which is one bolstering Americanism, is exactly what conservative Americans want to hear and expect to hear from their president. This is in contrast, of course, with the American-bashing that disheartened most of us during the entire 8 years of an Obama presidency.

All True. Democrat politicians and their supporters who know what the democrat party is about are pure evil and the media that sells their snake oil even worse. I’m hoping Betsy DeVos can make impotent the federal public education system and kids can start getting a true education. Otherwise we are just creating generations of communists that will stifle any good that happens the next 7.5 years.

    @ Kid …

The time is insufficient; at best, Trump and his cabinet will have eight years. To turn the American education system around will take at least 50 years. The liberal camp knows this … it is what they are banking on. The future look bleak to me unless or until the average American grows a set of balls and repudiates progressivism … which in my view, is the bane of Americanism.

Several of my recent daily rants have touched on this and related topics. One question that keeps popping up in my mind is “What the hell do these twerps WANT!”

Denny has a compilation of some of my rants on his site this morning.

Today’s edition touches on the self-destruction they’re wreaking on the whole shebang.

It quotes a paragraph I picked up somewhere else and expounds on it:

“Civilization is not the endpoint of modern history, but a succession of interludes in recurring spasms of barbarism. The liberal civilization that has prevailed in some Western countries over the past few centuries emerged slowly and with difficulty against the background of a particular mix of traditions and institutions. Precarious wherever it has existed, it is a way of life that has no strong hold on humankind.”

A paragraph buried in the middle of my ramble is this one:

Many of them seem bent on replacing the republic with anarchy and chaos so that some chimera, some castle-in-the-sky, some socialist Shangri-La with a giant cornucopia of free stuff can emerge from the rubble.

It mercifully concludes with these paragraphs:

The national anthem isn’t racist, and neither is the flag. But you can bet the farm that if the current trends continue, especially in our schools and universities, it won’t be long before nothing of the original society, the original culture, the original personality remains. This country will resemble the US of 1950 about as much as Michael Moore resembles John Wayne.

The monkey-see/monkey-do syndrome now has college students attacking statues of Columbus and Junipero Serra while demanding that schools named after Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, and others be given new titles.

How long will it be before the Statue of Liberty is seen as racist, some kind of white supremacist symbol. What will the national anthem be in 20 years, “Kumbaya”?

Excellent posting, Z. Indeed, every Democrat should read this. But like you said, it would be like a cross to a werewolf. So how do we accomplish this? Many on the left may not watch Fox News, but most do listen to Trump’s speeches, so why not have HIM point out all these facts during his talks? THEN, lets see what the media has to say. Lets see them try to discredit historical facts.
Kelly Ann Conway could help, too.

I agree with Krapnick; we should cease and desist all slavery in the US, post haste. After we have done so I’m sure all will be well once again. WHAT! You don’t believe that; well darn.

When our country first started out, folks came from all over, creating discrimination for each one. We’ve seen it against the Irish, Poles, Italians, Scottish, Armenians, Orientals, and so on. They may not have been enslaved, but each has had to deal with discrimination.
So what is it going to take to straighten this mess out because it not only doesn’t get better, it continues to grow. First, we get rid of agitators like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Rev. Wright and their ilk. Lets call them out for how they’ve hurt the very people they profess to be helping (while lining their pockets in the process). And lets not forget our previous president and the harm his administration caused. It appears to be our only hope because if we don’t face our problems head on, it will only continue.

I’m sick of Kaeperprick & all the other overprivileged athletes who, just because they can run fast, smash, throw a ball, or some other basically useless ‘talent’ think that they should not have to live by the rules we do. They have been coddled, bought off & excused from crimes, fawned over, catered to, & petted ever since their ‘talent’ showed a glimmer on the horizon. What they, the owners, & the coaches need to realize is that WE, the customers, pay their salaries. Without us there would be no ‘celebrity’ athletes. And don’t try telling me that this movement is not a sign of blatant disrespect & hatred for the flag & our National Anthem because I don’t buy that. They are nothing more than an extension of the BLM movement funded by the radical Left & Geo. Soros.

I hate to say this, but with the antipathy for the President, the Conservatives & Republicans, & all normal mores shown by the East & Left Coasts, the Lamestream Media, the university policies, the Hollyweird crew, the Pinot Grigio swillers, & the rest of the 2-legged lemmings this country is in very grave danger.

When is he EVER going to learn. I wish Ivanka’s job was to stay up all night with him so she could kick his ass whenever he starts to Tweet! The man never seems to know when to shut the piehole!
