What a FLAKE

I THINK JEFF FLAKE IS DESPICABLE.   All of you know I’m no big Trump fan, but for Flake to call himself “A true Conservative” conflicts with what he says.  The sorriest part is he’ll be in government, blocking Trump, for the year 2018.

Everybody knows Trump is losing support because of his personality and because of the constant media hate;  there is no doubt about that, so please, don’t even bother to try to deny that, dear readers……But for Flake to say Trump is pandering to “populist appeal” is nuts.   The PEOPLE, the POPULACE, need to stick to their guns.

pop·u·lism  noun

  • 1.support for the concerns of ordinary people:

And the downside to that is…WHAT?

What’s “backward looking” about fighting illegals, fighting one-sex bathrooms, etc.?

The linked article says “Flake lamented petty insults in his speech, telling his colleagues Republican that they have lost their way. He called Trump’s behavior “reckless, outrageous and undignified” and warned Republicans that indulging in scapegoating and petty resentments would lead them to become the minority party soon enough.

“Such behavior does not project strength, because our strength comes from our values,” the senator said. “It instead reflects a corruption of spirit and a weakness.””

Well, Mr. Flake, have you ever considered what gets Trump’s goat..?  That, usually, is Trump REacting when he tweets his ridiculous, thin skinned BS tweets!  I believe he’s DEAD WRONG and totally undignified in those tweets, but to suggest he’s ‘reckless’ (that’s applying to wars….anybody honestly believe Trump has started the N Korea scares?  Of course not! He just doesn’t believe in lying down and letting nukes take over the world like Obama did.  And Bush).

“There are times when we must risk our careers in favor of our principles,” Flake told his colleagues. “Now is such a time.”    Actually, Mr. Flake, it appears you are risking your sanity and you’re not quite as smart as I’d thought you are…. and I won’t be surprised when you’re a frequent guest on CNN.

On the other hand;  If Donald Trump doesn’t STOP THE INSULTS, THE PUBLIC BICKERING WITH ASSOCIATES EVEN IN HIS PARTY!!, LET SOMEONE ELSE HAVE THE LAST WORD AND JUST SAY “I’M SORRY YOU FEEL THAT WAY, I HAVE NOTHING MORE TO SAY”, HE’LL BE TOAST.  OR JUST SHUT UP, DONALD!!….things will get worse.  Do it with DIGNITY. Don’t back off, just do it with DIGNITY!

And, of course, Bannon has THREATENED FLAKE.  Is Flake getting out for fear of Bannon?

  1. Flake should retire immediately and allow Governor Doug Ducey replace him prior to the election.
    McCain should also, of course.

Republicans, Independents, and libertarians voted for Trump’s Agenda. Therefore I have no idea what Flake is tlaking about. Just trying to save some face and take more shots at Trump on the way out. Polls – yes, he’s quitting before he gets fired.

  4. I’m sick and tired of what keeps getting lost in most discussions:

that Trump was elected, fair and square, to be the POTUS.

Isn’t that what representative government is all about?

In my view, Flake is yet another person throwing a tantrum over the election of DJT — never mind that Flake couched his tantrum in eloquent language.

And who wrote Flake’s speech? I really don’t know how eloquent a writer he is. I listened to the whole speech, which Flake read, and thought: “Did Michael Gerson and/or Peter Wehner write that speech?” The speech sounded like something that Gerson or Wehner has written and would write.

Look up Michael Gerson and Peter Wehner: Gerson and Wehner have co-authored more than one thing. Also check their Twitter feeds to see if they’ve written anything since Flake’s speech.

Gerson is credited with coining such phrases as “the soft bigotry of low expectations” and “the armies of compassion”.[17] His noteworthy phrases for Bush are said to include “Axis of Evil,” a phrase adapted from “axis of hatred,” itself suggested by fellow speechwriter David Frum but deemed too mild.[18]

Z, on what do you base your statement “everybody knows Trump is losing support because of his personality”? I don’t believe any of us are and doubt very much any of those that voted for him are. Look, we had 16 other “refined and dignified” competitors to chose from, and you see who won. The people aren’t stupid, esp. on the right. Folks from the heartland of America realize where all the candidates were coming from ($$$$$$$) and voted for the one who doesn’t need it and tells it like it is. Like Lincoln said, you can s— some of the people some of the time, but you can’t s— all of the people all of the time, or something like that! ;o)

Mal, the polls. And I know you’ve probably got some that say he’s doing great! I hope so!
I speak to a lot of people…even Republicans who supported him still like most of what he’s doing but are being worn down trying to defend his thin skin and ego at the same time….very tough. I’m out and see a lot of people…Glad the heartland’s so on his side. He’s losing people I know …not that they’d vote Democrat but, for example, one never had to feel humiliated that you were in the same party as Reagan…Trump’s humiliating a lot of people………
He just needs to SHUT THE HELL UP and STOP jumping to every single slight. I’m all for defending oneself but there are ways to do it. And STOP airing the Republican dirty laundry and fights in public. my gosh

The Flake combine is well established in Arizona, founded by Jeff Flake’s great-grandfather, William … who settled in the Arizona territory before the Earps wandered into Tombstone in 1880. McCain is a new-comer to that state, but apparently has found a way into the Arizona political underworld. I do not like either of these low-life politicians, but I realize that my opinion doesn’t matter. We may agree about these people, which includes all of the leaders or enablers of progressive America, but what does matter is the Arizona voter and how well they understand the well-oiled political machine that infests their state. These politicians are no more than snake oil salesmen who have convinced a large number of people that they deserve national prominence. To this we must add complete idiots like Maxine Waters and Frederica Wilson, Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi … and far too many more. They are the poster-children for what our nation’s political structure has turned into. They are liars, swindlers, and frauds … and when combined, pose a greater danger to our Republic than any terrorist group. Unless you happen to live in the state (for senators), or the district (for members of the House), “we the people” are powerless against them. They know this … which goes a long way to explain the insufferable arrogance of these bottom-feeders.

From JERSEY JONES: (Anybody else having trouble with comments not printing lately?)
IF ANYTHING FLAKE…flaked out on the people of Arizona which have been invaded and handed over to mad Mexican drug cartels and a superhighway for illegals. As well as a de facto sanctuary state thanks to McPain ( how long before we memorialize this putz? This fraud? ) and Flake who’s named aptly considering his past history. One can see that he’s a spoiled brat now that all the goodies of the Senate sandbox have been taken away from him. McPain ran on repealing Ovomit care..he ran on tax cuts…then he stands next to the kosker Don & kisses Natty Pelousy on the Senate floor and almost gives chuckles a reach around? These two are the ultimate swamp mates and snakes that Bannon has his sights on…and God Bless Bannon for scaring the two of them. That simpleton embarrassment from Tennessee too.

Bannon is after him. End of story.
If this Flake was a true patriot he’d stay and fight Trump. Instead we have to count on losing Congress if Corker and Flake let this become personality over ideology.

Mustang, what do you think it’ll take Trump to stop what he’s been doing…speaking out of turn, reporting falsehoods, being SO thin skinned?

Z, the problem with just shutting the hell up is his silence would have his adversaries believing he is guilty of all the made up stuff. He’s damned if he does or doesn’t. Either way, he loses. The only hope he (and us) have is him being able to get enough of his policies enacted and show it works. Flakes like Flake aren’t helping him, for sure.

Could Trump use a little more tact when he responds to the haters, yes, but I believe he must continue to respond because, like Mal said, his silence would be misconstrued as guilt in a New York minute. With republicans like Flake, Corker, McCain, et al, Trump has enemies on all sides. It’s a testament to the man that he can function under those circumstances.

It’s a testament? I think his ego LOVES this….I’m just wishing SOMEONE could make him come across with dignity …like Reagan…protect yourself, Mr. Trump, but do it with DIGNITY. Sure you’ve got some TV and radio personalities tryint to get it out but MORE people don’t want to have to listen to radio or watch TV shows, and are much happier when they only have to click the mouse and read some 140 character bites. Put me in that category.

Kid, there are better ways of getting news out; equally POWERFUL, equally compelling….just stick to the truth, be an adult, don’t whine and stop the schoolyard bickering….Maybe then the leftwingers couldn’t enjoy harping on HIM and have to actually ADDRESS THE POINT?
It’s worth a try…as it is, he says great stuff and all they do is rag his delivery…and the point’s GONE. Now that, as the Donald says, is ‘SAD’!!

Only time will tell whether his bully tweets will become his undoing, and while we may quibble about the appropriateness of what he has to say, he cannot rely on an impartial press to get his message across. Meanwhile, I see more accomplishment in ten months than in 16 years of Obama or Bush. Among those “republicans” who quiver about his fascination with self, remind them that no 4-star general has a weak ego. We wanted an ass-kicker; we got one.
