All of us are nervous about our country. Yes, you are, too, just as much as the rest of us!
But if we’re believers in Jesus and His words, we know we don’t have to freak out because “God is in control.” Not sure any of you constantly remember this any better than I do.
Something wonderful I heard at a women’s conference last night and this morning was “Don’t let prison break your praise,” like it didn’t break Paul’s praise even when he was facing death.
Let’s keep up the joy and praise and try HARD not to freak out…….We either believe it or we DON’T:
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21
Just a little story I was told Thursday: Some years ago, a Mom of 2 teenagers was shopping in a book store…she saw a book on praying for one’s children and thought how grateful she was that her girls were fine, upstanding, sweet girls….she didn’t need THAT book. But she bought it. Standing in line feeling a little weird including that book with her others! Less than a week later, one of her daughters told her and her husband something that rocked their world and hasn’t stopped rocking it. SO many stories like this…I could share SO many, but thought this was a great example of one of the millions that show GOD KNOWS. Before WE do. And He’s there for us…not to make it all better, but for us to lean on…in faith, which is all He wants.

Yes, HE is always there for us. And look at what a beautiful future we have to look forward too worshiping at the feet of our blessed LORD Jesus for all eternity. My devotional this morning in Journey was about being thankful in all our situations, good or bad. [1 Thess. 5:18, Romans 5:3-5] I think that’s the right Christian attitude and I will strive to always remember that. I’m sick today and must miss Church (bummer!) so will worship here at home. Even in sickness HE still loves me, this I know.

Sparky, so sorry you’re sick… Yes, it’s about being thankful in all situations…and those saints I have known over the years who seem calm and happy inside are those who truly understood this.

There are still people who think anything the Christians did was bad, especially the ‘good’ ones, and that the crusades were all on Christians, too..zero understanding.

The Knights tried to protect the Holy Land but when it was lost, their ordered faded.
I suppose the attitude of BB and professors and kids who are indoctrinated is important…sort of like mischaracterizing the Israeli/Palestinian situation. You know; it’s all the JEWS’ FAULT 🙂 (not)

We’re not far apart Ed. On a different day I might have made your point. My first wife’s Dad was a Pentecostal Pastor. He liked to say that God dipped his finger down and carved out the Grand Canyon. I prefer to think he used natures tools like erosion to carve it out.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” I have always had a personal problem with the idea that all things happen for good. Our family has lost two adult sons and an adult daughter early in their lives. Even though we were all raised in a Christian home, it is tough to take the passing of a sibling early in life without anger.
Now, I know that God has His had in everything if we love him. That’s the trick. We have to love Him without hesitation or doubt. Loving Him means that we have faith that He will do as he says. All this is hard, and is one of those things I really have to work on.

Bob, glad you came by!! No need to apologize. And I hope I never sound flippant on God because you’re right…not so easy to love Him, let alone believe in Him, when one loses CHILDREN or health, or whatever! Practically impossible, in my opinion.
I guess I HAVE to think to myself “Was it better for my son in the long run? Is he with God?” If GOD KNOWS and we trust him, we just have to keep the faith.
I sure don’t most of the time, TRUST ME! But every time I think “what the…?” something happens that brings me back, or I (as I’m sure all of us do) think of the completely changed lives due to someone coming to strong faith. That stuff never lets me down. I depend on those stories!
