Killing of Police……….

“We’re not going to make this a political issue, other than the fact: What do you expect happens when you demonize law enforcement to the extent that it’s been demonized?” Schultz (Gilchrist County Sheriff) asked. “Every type of hate, every type of putdown that you can think of. The only thing these men were guilty of was wanting to protect you and me.”

And isn’t he 100% right.   THIS STORY made me so deeply sad that the black square was all I immediately thought of when I knew I’d blog it.  There are no further words necessary, but please keep the small children and wife of one of the dead cops, and the family of the other, in your prayers.

Why would anybody want to be a policeman anymore?  Is this the nightmare America is devolving into?

Case of a sick – – – – wore completely out and brain-frazzled from carryin an ill-defined, misdirected, unwarranted grudge around for years. Slack-jawed no-neck, slope-browed, mouth-breathin’ misfit recluse. Poorly raised, undereducated, dimwitted, misanthropic psycho.

On the LEOs’ radar but somehow slipped thru the cracks and never found his proper place in the proper oubliette. Fueled with the caustic bile of some ancient perceived wrong by authority figures in a dim and dejected past. Human detritus animated solely by the false promise of sweet vengeance.

Bocopro, the shooter, Hubert Highnote, is another example of someone that should never have been allowed to own a firearm, but did. So how are we to protect ourselves with anymore laws? Incidents like this I guess will become the norm unless we can come up with a sensible solution and nothing workable comes to my mind.
We know that high school students have been marching against gun violence which is all well and good, but with no real suggestions that would work. Take away one type of firearm and the perp will use another type. Ban guns completely and we know they’d still get one somewhere. Its simply too late IMO.

I pity the second one shot because he saw it happen; I hope it was so quick they didn’t know what hit them.
Bocopro, very, VERY VERY sick and full of hate. And so innocent, good people and their families suffer deeply. it’s sad beyond comment………

I am listening to the Bush funeral….talk about great music. “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” was performed probably better than I’ve ever heard it, and what a wonderful opening hymn for a Republican First lady.

I believe the seating order in the front left pew is Melania Trump, Michelle and Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton……….Melania and Barack were speaking together before they were ushered to the pew. Makes you wonder. HONESTLY, I hate to say this but I wouldn’t shake that man, or his wife’s, hand if I was introduced to them. I’d find it even difficult to smile at them. No, impossible.

What concerns me is the “us vs. them” mentality within some communities. There are serious problems on both sides of this equation. To understand this, we only need to consider the death of New Yorker Eric Garner, choked to death by police for an alleged violation of black-marketing cigarettes, or the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody in Baltimore. So far in 2018, 337 citizens have been shot and killed by police. I have little doubt that most of these people brought their demise upon themselves, but I am not able to say that all of them deserved to be shot to death. I just don’t know.

It is a shame these officers were gunned down in cold blood; no one deserves this, and yet we should assume that both men realized the danger of joining law enforcement. So far in 2018, 146 police have been killed in the line of duty, out of 809,000 men and women serving as law enforcement officers —or, .18% of the law enforcement population.

I’m not sure how to solve the problem of mentally disturbed people committing horrendous crimes; I’m not sure how such a person obtains a firearm in the first place. What I am sure about is that on several occasions, while asking a police officer for directions, I met a man who looked at me with suspicion and distrust, as if I posed a threat to him, and who during the entire conversation, kept his hand on the butt of his firearm. Again, I must ask: how do we rebuild trust between law enforcement and the citizens they “serve and protect”?

Mustang, thanks. I did ask that and it was really out of respect for law enforcement, the constant negativity displayed toward them, the constant hate, as the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s quote above in my post remains important to me….Their deaths were not deserved, this is a day for grief and prayer for their families and those they worked with, isn’t it.
Your comments are always welcome, I just hoped my comment about devolving into a nightmare would help us think…and you did, as always. Killing cops eating lunch is a nightmare!

    ON BARBARA BUSH’S FUNERAL:
I had CNN on for the last ten minutes and there’s John King with the freaking NERVE to say “This is a time when Republicans aren’t chastised for talking to a Democrat” WHAT? As if!!! When Democrats are so loathsome toward anything Conservative?

Wolf Blitzer was chastising America for not living up to the CIVILITY of Barbara Bush, how he thought the constant negativity is so wrong.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Apparently, he doesn’t watch CNN?

The funeral was relatively short…gorgeous music, wonderful words, some humor, tears….couldn’t be more perfect. Am blogging on it tomorrow..

This is an alarming trend. Police are at the point of the spear and more visible. We have tons of innocent children indoctrinated (in HS and college) that white people are to blame for most woes. And we get modern day Jim Crow: one race is lumped together for isolation and targeted for destruction. Just look at the news from college campuses today. Tomorrow these ill-informed twerps will run the HR departments of major corporations (that’s where they like to go) and foist their destructive notions on workers corporate-wide (think Starbucks). The culture has changed focus from self-restraint to self gratification. And we get millions of narcissists who believe it’s more important to check their text messages than watch for pedestrians stepping off the curb.

Charles Murray was on point: we are Coming Apart.

Yes, what worries me THE MOST is that these snowflakes will be at HR and other places..these are people who believe Corporations don’t deserve to turn a profit but expect their parents to continue to support them. Somehow.??
To show their utter stupidity is when Black officers arrest or righteously kill a Black perp………and still the cops are racists.
    Unreal.;

I cannot express in words the sorrow I feel for those police officers. As has been suggested, there is a tension between law enforcement and many communities. There have been people killed by police officers who should not have even pulled their guns.

Fixing the problem will take time, and has to be at the initiative of the police departments. There have to be community relations efforts to ameliorate the hostility.

Bunkerville…YOU try listening to Shep Smith for 2 hours. Also, it is SO entertaining to hear people like Blitzer bemoan the negativity in politics these days! Honestly, I thought “don’t you WATCH CNN, Blitzer?” Hilarious..MUCH MUCH more fun than FOX, I assure you!
Mom was also watching CNN “I can’t stand the guy on FOX’s voice” duh….

Mal, good point about the military.

Bob, I believe there must be community relations efforts, too, and there are. In some urban communities, cops play basketball with the kids, etc…and it goes very well.

That some cops are trigger happy with stress and fear of themselves being taken from their own families is BAD and, probably, those are the ones who maybe shouldn’t even BE cops, or be on phones, not with the public. I know I couldn’t be “on alert” every minute of my day, and , as we know, cops must be alert all the time now…that’s BAD and unhealthy for them and for those they see committing crimes.

It’s like Black people being angry at Whites for thinking their numbers are higher in prison..when THEY ARE and they DO commit more crimes….A cop sees a black kid with punk clothing on and something in their pocket, jeans around his butt at night, where he might not ought to be, and the cop’s NOT supposed to wonder wassup? Black communities must prevent this stuff happening to them, really awful, many times undeserved stuff, that happened because cops and other folks are just downright fearful and react naturally….pick “scared so I’m going to act first” instead of “Black kid in black clothes strolling in the dark where he shouldn’t be..just after that hold up 2 blocks away?..heck, that’s nothing, I’m SURE he’s doing NOTHING WRONG”? REALLY? ….if we start to all trust each other, it’ll be more of a stalemate….

In response to “Why would anybody want to be a policeman anymore? Is this the nightmare America is devolving into?”

    Answer Yes.
Why: This is a situation that feeds upon itself. With NBA and NFL players, who many black people idolize acting like they believe Mike Brown was shot standing still with his hands up, I guarantee you Many black are going to believe it too. Result – Extreme paranoia that they are going to die in almost any situation involving a police officer.
On the other side Police aren’t stupid and realize this too. So, in the dark, a bona-fide suspect has any object in his hand as he raises his arm in the direction of police, I fully expect that he will be shot as many times as is humanly possible given the magazine capacities of the officers on hand.
This will feed on itself. We’re back prior to 1960. Prior to MLK’s non-violent stance that made racism seem like it was dead in the 1970’s.
This isn’t getting better anytime soon.
Worst of all, this was Made to happen by obama, the democrats and all who support them.

Kid, you practically, but more eloquently, described what I mentioned in the comment above yours…”it feeds on itself,” as you say, is exactly what I meant above… Blacks feel downtrodden because cops may pick on them (so to speak) yet so many of them commit crimes that you can hardly blame the cops………
It’s going to take TRUST, and that’s going to be a long time coming with young Black kids trained, almost literally, to feel they’re victims before they start, and feel cops are all rotten and hate them, which isn’t true.

    Mal, “credit?” toward WHAT?
