Sunday Faith Blog

Before I get to my post, which I think you’ll appreciate, please allow me to ask for prayers of safe and happy, healthy travel for my stepdaughter (Ms Z) who’s just sailed off from Hawaii to Alaska…a two week crossing.   They found a good weather opening and can expect the normal storms, so please pray they get less or no storms than usual and the 3 travelers do well on the 50 foot sailboat.  Thanks!

THIS STORY really got me...You will LOVE IT, I promise…just saw it last night, a friend emailed it to me, and I had to add this, too, to my Sunday Faith Post today….The media sure didn’t cover it much! (at all?)…AND….

I wanted to share this with you all………….

“People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

~Mother Teresa”

I like so much of this and totally believe in her ‘final analysis’…I hope this is a blessing to you.

Do good today, be kind today, be honest, sincere, give the best you have…today and always.  Start with today.  And pray for Ms Z’s trip!   Thanks…

thanks, Adrienne. And, just to reiterate; I cannot get back on Disqus because they have spelled my email address wrong and there is NO WAY I can fix it, even where it says “Fix problems”. I have tried EVERYTHING! (ask Kid, who also tried to help)….I even tried to use my other email address and then it says “this email already exists!” And doesn’t work, they might ad. So, no help, please..from anyone; I tried everything!

Please also protect our president and thank you for the young men who prayed for him and his humility in accepting it.

I’d much rather be going from Alaska TO Hawaii, but to each his own;) Seriously, fair winds and following seas to Ms Z and her fellow travelers.

There is an anecdote to Mother Teresa’s quote: As you get older, one by one you remember all the things you said or did that you now regret because we all make foolish mistakes. You also remember some of the bad things that were said or done to YOU, but somehow they are not important anymore and you forgive them for the same reason.

So, so true. I can only imagine the frustration a-theists feel when they do these things and don’t get the results or acclaim they expect. You hear them all the time: enough is never enough, if only we spend more money (usually), brought in the force of government we can ‘fix’ a thing. Tain’t always so. But the wisdom here is how WE change – the only entity we truly have that kind of control over.

Prayers for Ms Z. In fact, I’ve been wondering with the ads out for the upcoming Adrift if she were on her way to Alaska yet.

Baysider, thankfully, Ms Z is an accomplished sailor with about every certification except sailing the QE3..and the friend is a sailing instructor…bad things can happen, but nothing like Adrift, which I had never heard of so I had to Google it…and still didn’t see details but understood it to be a sailing horror story?! yikes!
I’m not sure we have the ability to change in all the best ways without HIM.
Saw Carol B at church, they’re back from an amazing Europe trip…she looked rested and happy!

    Mal, I like that.

Cube, she’s spent almost 4 months in Hawaii! She’s not really looking forward to this crossing but, since someone wants to fly to Alaska to see Alita and maybe buy her, she’ll then get a van and drive down through Canada to me for Christmas!

Ed…humility in accepting it. That would be wonderful!
Love that picture of those men praying around him….well, just to SEE them praying is a blessing..

Z, your step-daughter and her instructor companion will be just fine. This isn’t something they dreaded doing and weren’t looking forward to so I’m sure they feel confident as they are both well qualified and wouldn’t do it if they weren’t.
It does sound exciting though, doesn’t it? You know, I’ve never been on a sail boat, with the exception of a party one evening while it was docked in Newport Harbor. Er, does that count?

Mal, no it doesn’t sound at all exciting to me not to see land for 2 weeks…and yes, she has dreaded this leg of this journey! It’s very difficult and, as you probably know, real sailing isn’t wearing a big hat and drinking Mai Tais if you’re the sailors! But they are more than highly qualified and there’s a lot of excitement about it,………..somehow. ………….which totally escapes me!!!
And no, your Newport Harbor experience doesn’t count! 🙂 HA!!!

Ed, I AM SO SORRY! Praying for Tom….oh, my gosh. Apparently, he’ll be okay if they can remove the whole tumor and it hasn’t invaded anywhere else. Let us know as you find out…So sorry.
