Sunday Faith Blog

Today I want us PRAYING FOR TRUMP, which means PRAYING FOR AMERICA:  that the tariffs work and don’t hurt farmers, that North Korea stops the game it’s now playing, that the Donald Trump diaper balloon in London pops on something sharp before he arrives and has to see it, that meetings with Russia go well and Trump doesn’t trust Putin too much (let’s not have another Geo. Bush experience),  that the American people start to realize what our media’s trying to do (I believe they are waking up), that the Dems keep up the socialism thing and we keep showing how ridiculous their drumbeat really is, that Trump finds solid, smart people to take positions in the White House and that they find the LEAKERS, that ….well, you all know….

OH!  THAT TRUMP’S APPOINTEE TO THE SUPREME COURT ISN’T KAVANAUGH, BUT SOMEONE WE ADMIRE AND DOESN’T HAVE QUITE THE ‘VINCE FOSTER, ABORTION RIGHTS’ PAST HE HAS.    AND, THAT IF IT’S KAVANAUGH, WE FIND HE’S A BETTER GUY THAN WE’D FEARED.

PRAY THAT DONALD AND MELANIA DON’T GET TOTALLY DISHEARTENED.

BE OPTIMISTIC, PRAY OPTIMISTIC, BELIEVE OPTIMISM!

On the subject of OPTIMISM, HERE is something Kid emailed me, a website that’ll feel like you’ve gone to the river for a cold drink of water……..such a RELIEF.  I hope this helps your mood..  It does mine!

“The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble, And He knows those who take refuge in Him.”  Nahum 1:7

Have an OPTIMISTIC DAY!!!

bunkerville…I’m hoping we’re dead wrong about Kavanaugh, actually! That the rave reviews he’s getting from legal minds on TV the last two days who have/had nothing to do with the Vince Foster investigation (young and excellent law profs who know him, etc.) or the Deep State, are right and he’s an excellent candidate! FINGERS CROSSED!! OPTIMISM!

I LOVE this commercial and I think you will, too!

I must admit I don’t know any of these candidates and am relying solely on Trumps vetting of them in making his final decision. Again, perhaps I’m placing too much faith in his ability and wisdom, but given his track record, I feel pretty confident he will make the right choice. Time will tell.

I pray a LOT for the president, his family and wisdom. I’m reading Three Days in Moscow now. It’s about Reagan. He wasn’t concerned what DC thought of him, but did what he knew was right (we’re at the “Tear Down This Wall” speech). I stopped to pray that this will be the kind of judge Mr. Trump picks. Lord knows, this is the moment for which we put him in office. May we have the Lord’s mercy!

Baysider, did you see the links I posted in a comment above about Kavanaugh, from Bunkerville’s blog?
I’m not hugely interested in reading the Moscow book, though I LOVE Baer, but I remember hearing the writer of the TEAR DOWN THIS WALL speech…charming.

Sparky, such a good verse for these times, isn’t it. I love it. Revival is crucial. But…

Kid, there’s also the fact that Trump said “…he would have slept with Princess Diana in a radio interview recorded just three years after her death, but he joked that he would have had the British royal get an HIV test first. :” there’s more but I can’t stand it.
That might not have thrilled the Royal Family.

Yes! I read Bunkerville’s links. Disturbing. And I don’t especially recommend the Moscow book. I misunderstood it was all about the summits with the Russians which I was quite interested in. Nevertheless, it’s a great reminder that it takes a person with a firmly grounded philosophy to not be beguiled by being like by the DC glitterati (as, say, John McCain appears to be). Justice Thomas does not “do” the entertainment circuit. That may be because he’s more a loner, so it doesn’t mean you can’t be social. But if you live to get the invitations … uh-oh. Reagan had his imperfections, but stayed the course of his values without DC rubbing off on him. The book amplifies that, and called me to pray for someone of like mind for the SCOTUS (something like “Dear God, please take 30 years off of Janice Rogers Brown.”

Baysider, it is disturbing, and nobody’s talking about that AT ALL. There’s something Kavanaugh wrote about, I think, healthcare, that didn’t go well with Conservatives, but his fans are quick to ‘poo poo’ that…who knows?

Justice Thomas is the kind of man who gets a letter gushing over how amazing his autobiography is and writes back a hand written thank you on SCOTUS stationery…that would be ME. I cherish it.

Barrett is a member of “charismatic” Catholic group “People of Praise”.
    Charismatics are catholic pentecostals.
Pentecostals, like myself, believe that God gives us personal direction, either through a relevant Scripture or personal revelation such as a prophetic utterance.
That can be a scary notion to a non-believer. It’s even scary to believers.
I can imagine that the fear on the part of some is that Barrett will follow the voices in her head, instead of the voices on the left. That was an attempt at humor with a bit of truth thrown in.
    I would rather see Kethledge.

I have to add that my understanding of the founding of our nation made an important point. Freedom Of religion as well as Freedom From religion. Any decent constitutionalist could never force a religious dogma on the nation.

Kid, and Barrett’s said exactly that.
Still, I don’t think we can leave our faith outside our voting booths, can we. Our pasts, our families, our faith, etc., INFORM us, and I believe it’s impossible to not be affected in some ways.
A Justice must have to work HARD to focus on the point and make a decision!
It was Freedom OF Religion the founders wanted…it’s aetheist types who interpret it as Freedom FROM Religion.. Our Founders wanted to be able to follow their religion, but believed all should be able to follow their own religious leadings…or not. So, folks can have freedom FROM religion….but they’ve taken it recently to mean our country shouldn’t have religion behind anything. that just doesn’t work. yet.

Ed, I need to be careful how I say this, but I have to admit her group gives me pause.
Yes, when we hear “voices in our head,” it doesn’t really put most of our minds at rest 🙂
I’m more for Kethledge, too, and now there’s Hardiman, I believe is his name.

    We’ll know tomorrow!

Z, we can’t leave any of our beliefs outside the voting booth regardless what it has to do with.

What you typed in regards freedom From religion confuses me as it seems to make both arguments at the same time and also simultaneously. I believe the country was founded on the principle that you need not follow any religion, only the laws of the land. I think you feel the same way.

Anyway, given this constant struggle betwixt good and evil, I favor Amy Barret. There are a great many things propagating evil in America beside abortion. moslems come to mind.

Kid, yes, founded on that we don’t need to follow any religions….the laws are what counts.
But I meant that we should be all free to practice our religions, as the founding fathers hoped….and that freedom FROM religion means almost a prohibition of religion, or at least Christianity, like the Left seems to prefer.

I like Barret, too, the group she’s in is ‘out there…’ Still, she has every right.

A sticky wicket is things like the 10 Commandments on Federal grounds, public grounds…should they come down (Freedom FROM Religion) or stay (Freedom OF Religion…)…

Sadly, ALL religions are welcome because of our founding fathers…I say ‘sadly’ only because one’s adherents want to kill us, so I’m thinking that’s not a religion and people who want death to ‘pigs’ (us) need to go! (islam)

Not that I’d be at all happy for that, of COURSE. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that; there was a bit of a purge a few years ago, but it seems to have gone away!

ED AND KID, I posted this on today’s COMMENTS in case you didn’t come back here, but it really works with our discussion last night:

“The Constitution is clear that religious faith may not be used to prevent an American from holding office. But there is another faith now, a strident faith, that of the left and anyone who stands in its way is to be marked.”

Ed and Kid…pursuant to our conversation about Freedom of Religion…v Freedom FROM Religion, a cousin just sent this link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/kass/ct-federal-judge-catholic-kass-met-0913-20170912-column.html
It includes the quote above, and I believe that’s where we are today….You are MARKED if you say “But the 10 Commandments are what our country was FOUNDED upon!” etc.
It’s so wrong…it’s so dangerous……..it’s so Liberal (not in the classical sense)
