Can anybody remember a time when Obama used race as a wedge issue in politicking? Sure you can! A lot of them!
Trump didn’t distance himself from David Duke during the 2016 campaign and that was wrong. LeBron gets that right. But for LeBron to consider Trump racist for supposedly jumping to conclusions in Charleston, Ferguson, etc., when Obama started a LOT of this whole RACE THING we’ve got goin’ by jumping to his own ridiculous and biased conclusions in the Henry Gates break-in which prompted that stupid ‘beer summit?’
Actually, it’s a shame LeBron says he won’t ‘sit across from the president at a table’ because his interview isn’t all bad, in my opinion. Here’s a large part of that linked article…I want it here so all of you see it:
“Do I know that Trump’s “both sides” reaction in the wake of the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, was born out of some sort of inchoate racism? No, I don’t. But what I do know is that equating peaceful protesters with white supremacists emboldens those who hold bigoted views. And, I don’t know that Trump’s baffling unwillingness to distance himself from Klansman David Duke during the 2016 campaign — Trump initially suggested he wasn’t familiar enough with Duke to offer an opinion about his endorsement — is the result of a deep-seated racism within the President. But I do know that by not forcefully condemning Duke from the get-go, Trump allowed the likes of Duke to appropriate his message and his campaign for their purposes.
The point here is that by playing in the swamp of racism — and weaponizing race for political gain — Trump has created a racial climate in this country in which people who hold those toxic views feel more empowered than ever to voice them without fear. Actions have consequences. If you talk about race — from Charlottesville to Colin Kaepernick to the Golden State Warriors — the way Trump has, there will be an element of people in the country who use those words as cover for their hateful views. If the President can say it — or suggest it — why can’t I? goes the thinking. If he’s not willing to condemn us, then why should we apologize for what we think and believe?”
Z: I agree with some of this… I can see how LeBron would think like he does. BUT, I also think politics is ugly and Trump may have ignored Duke because Duke DID bring in supremacist votes….Obama ignored Jeremiah Wright’s horrible rantings and ravings in his own church every Sunday because it played to the Black RACIST votes!! Right?
Ya, no side’s innocent of playing this way. I even hear Libs on TV saying it was a shame Trump uninvited sports teams to the White House, when it was the team members still coming were down to about two!! How would that have looked?
ANYWAY; all this to say I BELIEVE THAT TRUMP AND LEBRON SHOULD SIT DOWN AND THAT THE WORLD OF RACE COULD CHANGE THAT DAY. I BELIEVE TRUMP IS NOT A RACIST IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR MANNER. I BELIEVE LEBRON SOUNDS SENSIBLE ENOUGH THAT HE’D LISTEN. (this is purple text in honor of the Lakers, of course!)

LeBron could make a difference because a lot of black folks pay attention to him. Some of the problems with that idea is that he is a hands up don’t shoot incite person. DJT will never convince LeBron that mike brown got shot becuase he tried to kill the police officer with his bare hands.
A grand jury didnt find any reason why the officer should even be put on trial.
He doesn’t understand that Trump had to cancel the GSW White House visit because too many said they weren’t coming and so what do you do, hold a big portion of the day schedule open in case some of them show up? Course not. Cancel the meeting and plan something else.
That he doesn’t understand some of these basic things makes me doubt that he’d suddenly come up with some positive message about DJT. There was a black guy working here a couple years ago. Stand up guy, college grad, has a family, works hard. I drove him to work for a year or so when his car broke down as he lived about a 10th of a mile out of the way from my place to and from work. We talked about a lot. He ran Everything through the race filter.
Last time I tlaked to him he said he’d like to have obama be the president forever. I’d put LeBron in that same category. I don’t see either one of them changing.

if you think Pres. Trump has or had any liking of David Duke, you are as dumb as a box of rocks. Trump disavowed Duke multiple times. You think a man, like Trump, would ever consider involving himself with someone so toxic The thought that Trump is such a poor judgement of a person, is laughable.
The only reason it became an issue is the Media thought they had a GOTTCHA. THE MEDIA STILL CLAIM THE SAME A YEAR AFTER THE INCIDENT. Chuck, I have no idea who you are or how your comment made the blog without going thru moderation, but if you think I said anywhere that Trump agreed with David Duke, the box of rocks line doesn’t fit ME. Z, the race division was definitetly purpposeful and I’d say there were 2 reasons: Hurt the country by setting race relations back pre-1960 and to try to get the blacks back on the democrat voting plantation. They want black people focused on white people and race issues, not on what the democrats are Not doing for them.
Now we have the war on white people, heterosexuals, and Christians.
OT: Can you believe “dem senators” are actually trying to sell the idea that Kavanaugh will cancel elections and make DJ Trump King ?? How stupid are democrats anyway? Will we ever know.

A black pastor who’s a longtime supporter of President Trump is saying that Mr. Trump is more “pro-black” than former President Barack Obama, the nation’s only black president.
Pastor Darrell Scott of Cleveland, co-founder of Mr. Trump’s National Diversity Coalition, is one of several dozen inner-city faith leaders working with the White House on prison reform and other initiatives to help urban America.
“This is probably going to be … the most pro-black president I’ve seen in my lifetime,” Mr. Scott said Wednesday in an Oval Office meeting with the president. “This president actually wants to prove something to our community, our faith-based community and our ethnic community. The last president didn’t feel like he had to.”
Mr. Scott said of Mr. Obama, “He felt like he didn’t have to prove it. He got a pass. This president, this administration is probably going to be more proactive regarding urban revitalization and prison reform than any president in my lifetime.”
During the meeting, Mr. Trump discussed the administration’s prison reform efforts, including a bipartisan prison reform bill passed by the House in May.

I love the idea of urban revitalization.
LeBron James has opened a school …He’s not only paid for the school but is also paying for training for the parents of the kids to get good jobs, ..and tuition to University of Akron… He also gives each kid at his school free bkfst and lunch…and a bike, because he said his bike was what got him to safe places like community centers after school when he was a kid.
This is a terrific thing…giving kids a CHANCE….and helping their parents, too. This kind of revitalization is a really good thing….

Ya, I thought it was really good, too. Actually, Magic Johnson, too, has done a lot for the Los Angeles community….he’s built businesses in the Watts area, etc., and employs a lot of minorities….pretty good stuff.
But, you’re right; that VERY VERY rich part of our communities could sure do more….put their money where their whining mouths are!!!

I’m sick to death of hearing this meme presented over and over in the media without the balancing opprobrium it deserves. It’s all part of the ‘plot’ to bury the half of the country that wants their republic back.
James needs to shut up and stick to his field until he learns how to think without running his mouth with toxic nonsense. Or be honest: “look, I’m partisan for the Democrats, loved Obama and would never have called him out for actually doing what I’m accusing Trump of.” Now we’re clear on his motives.
Trump used sport to divide us? Whaaaat? Who used sport to be divisive Mr. James? James may do ‘good’ on the one hand, then joins the chorus to divide and destroy the republic as a high-profile cheerleader. I believe Le Bron is totally ideological…totally Obama-loving, etc…and I don’t know if he’s got the heart or head to actually even let Trump talk to him in order to do some good in this country (otherwise, I’d tell Trump to avoid him, he doesn’t deserve the meeting) but I think it’s well worth the try.
