The chief danger that confronts the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost,
Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration,
politics without God, heaven without hell.
William Booth
“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.”
― William Saroyan
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. -- Winston Churchill
Ignorance is not an opinion, liberals
I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else. C. S. Lewis
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

All this summer, I tutored a student in Beijing via FaceTime and WhatsApp — in preparation for her coming to the United States to a very expensive private school ($60,000 year) in California. Her spoken English is quite good. But her writing? All the grammar rules she’s learned suddenly evaporate.
My student comes from a rich family: two children and two dogs (poodles). Both of her parents are real estate developers in China.

An overcast start to a hot muggy day,
And I realize that I have nothing to say,
So I’ll dig around into that matter that’s gray
And come up with some damned thing any old way.
I wish that the media saw their way clear
To tell me what happened, not what I SHOULD hear.
I want to know who did what to whom and where
But that’s not what normally gets on the air.
Instead they explain only what THEY think’s news
And ignore any issue that won’t match their views.
They edit and cut and revise as they choose
Until what we get only serves to confuse.
And before I go get me my sweet bun and tea
Let me give you some common sense advice that’s free:
When you get a new puppy to hold on your knee,
Please consult the directions before assembly.

Abortion. What is with these women who essentially want to celebrate having an abortion.
I made a great mistake ! I failed to use contraceptive and got pregnant again and now I want to shout to the world that I’m an incompetent idiot while killing a child in the process.
Maybe it was that I forgot to do my homework and now I want to proudly shout that out to the world. Hey everybody ! I didn’t do my homework ! Party at happy hour tonight to celebrate !
Or Hey everybody ! I just had my 7th rear ender on the freeway in ruch hour because of course, starting at my phone instead of driving. Isn’t it cool ! Party tonight to celebrate ! Can someone give me a lift?
What the hell ? Pure evil. There. That’s my thought on abortion.

Whaddya know – here is one form Today:
“A 12-year-old girl from Detroit, Michigan was hospitalized Friday with severe burns after participating in what her mother called the “fire challenge.” ”
(The girl’s friends said they were participating in the “fire challenge,” an internet trend in which people seemingly douse themselves in rubbing alcohol and set themselves on fire. One of the girls said she viewed videos of people taking part in the challenge online.)
Hey I’m disfigured for life now! Isn’t it cool ! Big party when I’m able to move again ! So Proud !!

Trying to decide what to do about my family vacation. Scheduled the end of Sept/ first of Oct, but where we are booked in Florida has Red Tide…I am so freaked out!!! That’s what is on my mind today…and everyday.

Sue, you’re already booked? All of Florida doesn’t have Red Tide, right? But where your booked is involved in it? Man, it is GROSS. I hope you can make things work for you and have a marvelous time. Let us know what you decide. Glad to see you today!! Be well!
Kid, “THE FIRE CHALLENGE?!” A Challenge is when you can make it or not…then you’re challenged. This sounds like SUICIDE, that’s no challenge. I’ve never heard of this…disgusting.
And I SO agree about the abortion thing, except I’d add “So I’m making YOU American tax payers to PAY for my stupidity because I DESERVE IT”
()@$*&@(*$&)@#(*@$&@#)($*&#@)
Always On Watch…Funny, the Chinese kids here mostly can’t speak worth beans but, instead of saying something, they’ll SPELL IT CORRECTLY! isn’t that wild? “I want to J O U R N E Y to the store” cracks me up!
If they’re paying $60 grand just for the school, somebody’s screwing them BIG TIME ….our kids pay our school about $25K (more than American kids) plus they pay us homestay parents through the nose (HURRAH!$$$)…and, considering what they pay the Homestay Coordinators, I’d say they pay about $65K a year TOTAL.
My kid has no financial brakes…buys anything she wants, orders food by Uber here and at school (doesn’t like American food…yet)……..one kid bought a house in Bel Air and drives a Bentley and wears $2000 tennis shoes………he’s typical.
The manufacturer of most of the shoes in China goes to our school:
TRUE STORY: I asked him where his older bro went to college ‘U of Oklahoma”…I thought “OKLAHOMA? WHY?” Found out months later about how his family is in shoes, some of which are made with oil-based soles, right? Yup! His brother went to U of OK to get good on OIL…..to learn OIL……..$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Bocopro…LOVE your poem…great job!

Z, yea, it’s like the tide pod challenge, or the ice water challenge, or the snort a condom challenge. Mostly getting idiot kids to do stupid things. This one is pretty evil. I haven’t looked on youtube for it, but I’d suspect if there is, the person put some sort of protective substance on their skin before pouring alcohol and lighting it. Then a 12 yr old comes along. There was another one about dunking your face in boiling water. Some other kid is disfigured from that one.

MANAFORT..GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY on 8 COUNTS….
I wonder how long those counts get in jail…and how long it’ll be before Trump pardons him. Maybe that’s why Manafort’s been smiley during this thing!?
MISTRIAL on other 10.
I’ve always thought the man looks like a SNAKE, and he’s probably guilty, but IF ANYBODY THINKS HATING TRUMP ISN’T INVOLVED IN THE MANAFORT VERDICTS AREN’T PART OF THE DEAL, YOU’RE DREAMING. IT’S IN NYC.
Surprised the Defense…imagine them not presenting a defense because they felt the gov’t didn’t prove their points?
Well, maybe those 10 counts do illustrate that? Who can know?

Manafort and Cohen and the rest would have flown under the radar if it wasn’t for the war on Trump and America for that matter.
Guess Manafort could appeal.

Kid, I TOTALLY agree……it is TRUMP Manafort’s going to be a famous jailbird for. I should say Trump-hatred, not Trump’s fault.
Lots of big Trump fans on FOX very subdued today……..Juan Williams happy as hell. I think people are weary of it all…….and they believe Trump will hammer the fact that the possible killer of Mollie Tibbits may be an illegal HARD to make enough noise to overcome the huge HALLELUJIAHS! from the leftwing media over the Manafort decisions.
Most experts saying he won’t appeal…….and we don’t know what Judge will say about the remaining 8 counts not deciding on. He probably has enough jail time for the rest of his life NOW…..then there are the 8 counts, and then there is the NYC case.
DO YOU GUYS THINK TRUMP CAN AFFORD TO PARDON HIM SOON? I’d say maybe after 2 years of time.
MICHAEL COHEN in BIG TROUBLE…….Possible illegal money used in Trump election. Cohen says GUILTY on those violations…but the RIGHT is saying “Trump might not have known”

oh, GAD….first words out of Trump re Manafort is how he “feels badly” and then IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIAN COLLUSION..>NOTHING. Said that a few times.
THEN he takes this opportunity to remind us and the media how Manafort also worked for other Republicans, like “I hired him, but I’m not the ONLY one who did!”

Sadly, it doesn’t matter……it’s Trump right now and the Cohen thing isn’t good, no matter what happens with Manafort. I’d bet $100 Trump will pardon at least Manafort within 2 years…….Cohen, maybe not, because he’s spilling beans.

Surprise. Manafort guilty. Surprise, Cohen makes a deal. Surprise, Mollie Tippett’s body found in Brooklyn, Iowa. To me, Mollie’s news is the biggest news on the air because 1) she was found, and 2) an illegal immigrant murdered her.
Don’t forget that the stock market is up, and next Sunday Mrs Bob and I will celebrate our 51st wedding anniversary. We can’t make up our mind on a place to go like we did last year, and about the only thing we want to do is to go out to a really nice restaurant. Any ideas for a couple of Septuagenarians to do in a celebration?

Happy Anniversary, Bob! I only had my wonderful man for 19 years and 3 days so it’s very special to hear about folks like you and Mrs. Bob.
Saw a couple holding hands in church at a funeral on Saturday…afterwards, I told them my husband had passed away but I loved how they’d been holding hands and urged them to keep it going 🙂 They were so sweet and appreciative…I think it makes people remember how LUCKY they are. SO LUCKY.
ANyway….DINNER OUT, VERY FAVORITE PLACE of you BOTH! 🙂 Get her flowers! Write her a list of things you best remember over the years because of HER. How do you like that idea? Doesn’t cost much, either :-)!!!

Congratulations Bob. My lunch buddies had their 50th this last Sunday. Had family and friends to a restaurant with custom menu by a friend who is an executive chef for the Bravo Italian restaurant chain. They really enjoyed it. I have not seen them happier in a good while.
Z’s suggestion sounds like a good one. Memories of you both over the years.

I’m thinking about 2 cultural items – BIG issues:
1. A woman in an inpatient FEMALE addiction treatment center in Canada had a MAN placed as her roommate. She is recovering from abuse, rape and with PTSD over the experiences. And they put a MAN (oh, yes, pretending he’s a woman, but not very well since he sports facial hair and talks about the women he’s attracted to) in her room!
She complained and either filed or threatened to file a suit to get the man out and the Canadian authorities threatened HER with suit (and likely re-education) for complaining. Apparently a number of women in the facility were surprised and upset. But this woman has him living in her room, can’t sleep, is on high alert, genuinely triggered with flashbacks.
What’s next? A man in your prison cell — and you can’t escape?
2. I just learned that Greg Laurie (who does a fall “Harvest Crusade” for Christian evangelism every year at Angel Stadium) was forced to remove billboards they leased in a shopping mall (I think in Riverside) because some customers were offended by the image of him holding [an unmarked] bible – no cross, lettering or anything. The billboard company told him he had to remove the bible from the picture. He wanted to reach people, not fight, so he did. Paid to have it re-printed (this is some cost) and they REFUSED to put it up after he did everything they demanded.
Lesson: It shows the power of Christ that some people cannot stand even the slightest hint of bing reminded that they are a lawbreaker and need help.

PS. Does that mean I can complain about liquor ads and billboards with inadequately clothed people on them? I’m sure Abercrombie & Fitch would run right out to their printer to re-post decent ads. Sure….

Baysider, sounds like these situations need some street justice. Problem is I doubt few in America care enough and I’d bet no one in Canda would take any action.
The pervs need to find themselves in dark alleys, followed by trips to the hospital courtesy of unknown assailants.

Kid, it’s WONDERFUL that your friends were so happy! Really glad to hear that.
Re pervs…I’d skip the hospital part 🙂
Baysider, yes, it’s actually been discussed around town, that Greg Laurie thing….many are NOT HAPPY. Don’t know about billboards, but it was on buses, and they made him take them all down….BUT, as you know, the Revival event DOES happen and they PACK THEM IN!!
Great point about inadequately clothed people.
Personally, I know I go against the tide here because we’ve discussed it, but I am SICK of being called a prude and ‘anti motherhood’ when I saw PLEASE JUST PUT A LOVELY FABRIC OVER YOUR BABY AS IT BREAST FEEDS IF YOU MUST DO IT IN PUBLIC!
I personally don’t know many women I’m thrilled about seeing the naked breasts of. (How’s that for English!? !!) And I don’t really want little kids finding seeing naked breasts in public, of strangers, to become normal, either.
Is breast feeding natural? Of COURSE! Does this mean I’m against it,as many like to suggest?” NO! But, don’t I have just as much right to ask to just ‘cover up’ as moms have to swing it out and attach baby? Gad. What have we come to, National Geographic illustrations?

Mustang, thanks for that…is a 7% growth rate GOOD? I’m not that great on money stuff….(as witnessed by my own situation, by the way, but we’ll skip that here!) 🙂
What do you take from that CIA overview of China?
LikeLike
A 7% growth rate is good in the current fiscal year, but it suggests some economic instability. What investors want to see in a market is stability, which is why I think our own economic system attempts to manage its growth rate to between two and four percent within a fiscal year. From what I read, there is a lot going on in China that would lead to economic instability, and who is to say that shifting government policy isn’t to blame for this? That said, in a nation of a billion people, a per-capita GDP of $16,000 doesn’t seem too bad.
