Andrew Gillum wants some respect?

Yes, Ron DeSantis referred to Gillum as “Andrew” during a debate and Gillum finds that disrespectful because they had only just met.   Is Gillum kidding?  I happen to prefer the old fashioned way of calling people “Mr. DeSantis…Mr. Gillum,” etc., but that isn’t the way we do it these days.  But Mr. Gillum felt disrespected, poor little thing!   I’m thinking this attitude of Gillum might have just won the election for DeSantis.   It’s amazing to me that someone like Andrew Gillum can find a stupid little thing like this to win a debate instead of actually winning a debate by intellect and experience.  Here is the article:

Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum, the Democratic mayor of Tallahassee, seemingly took offense to his Republican opponent Ron DeSantis repeatedly referring to him by his first name during a debate Wednesday night.

“I met him for the first time the other night and then all of a sudden, without invitation, he was calling me only as Andrew,” Gillum told students Thursday during a campaign event at the Florida Memorial University’s Miami Gardens campus, according to The Tampa Bay Times.

“Between the two of us, he quit his job in Congress, I’m a sitting mayor, and he had the nerve to address me only as Andrew?” Gillum added. “I wanted to correct him, y’all, but I didn’t want to be petty. So, we just we pushed all the way through.”

DeSantis’ campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Gillum, who would be the state’s first black governor if elected, faced off against DeSantis on stage Wednesday as the former congressman was grilled on his ties to neo-Nazis and white supremacists. In one exchange, Gillum took particular issue with DeSantis participating in speaking engagements at racially charged far-right conferences and accepting campaign contributions from a donor who used a racial epithet in a tweet about former President Barack Obama.

“I’m not calling Mr. DeSantis a racist. I’m simply saying the racists believe he’s a racist,” Gillum said in a retort that quickly went viral.

DeSantis, meanwhile, maintained he was unaware of both the nature of the conferences where he spoke and of his donor’s racist remarks. He complained that he was being unfairly cast as a racist person by association.  (Z: I’m not particularly a fan of DeSantis, I couldn’t care less except that he’s a Republican and we need his win, but does anybody honestly think he’s a ne0-Nazi White Supremacist?  Accusations like this shouldn’t win or lose us elections)

“How the hell am I supposed to know every single statement somebody makes?” DeSantis shot back. “I am not going to bow down to the altar of political correctness. I’m not going to let the media smear me.”  (Z: GOOD FOR YOU!)

Gillum has also been the target of two extremely racist robocalls during the campaign. The most recent featured an actor using an exaggerated minstrel dialect, saying: “Well hello there. I is the Negro Andrew Gillum, and I be asking you to make me governor of this here state of Florida.”   (end of article)  (Z:  DeSantis’ campaign says they have nothing to do with that disgusting robocall, that they condemn it, obviously, so the fact this is mentioned in this article is even more disgusting than that horrible recording.)

DO YOU THINK CALLING GILLUM ‘ANDREW’ MAKES ANYBODY DISRESPECTFUL?  Gillum says he let it go during the debate but now he’s mad.  Ya, sure, he let it go because it didn’t hit him till someone racist in his own campaign thought it’d be good to use that….THAT is racist, not what Mr. DeSantis did.  And if Mr. Gillum is angry about this, he really doesn’t have the strength to be a state governor.

Damn snowflake, shrieking “I’m a victim! I’m a victim!” — and playing the race card. Or something.

It’s curious how only the white guy can be called racist, when ANDREW pulled out the race card again and again. Had Desantis called ANDREW racist or even hinted at such, the world would have blown up. Good on Desantis for being the only one in that room for keeping his cool and showing substantial class. But of course the MSM would never acknowledge such a thing, they only go after Conservatives with anything they can. Race is now their silver bullet which I predict, is bound to misfire.

There is a silver lining in every cloud. I think DeSantis’ demeanor reflects our progress in American society. Yes, he may have erred in calling him ANDREW, but at least he didn’t call him “boy.” 🙂

Mustang…the irony is Gollum IS. Just a boy if he can’t take being called by his first name….black or white he’s a boy. Let’s not forget the presidential debates had first names used…I remember because I actually find it coarse and undignified.

Hi. Chuck….I think it is already misfiring tho I hate to use that word for it…

    AOW ….total agreement

I believe the calling of folks you just met by their first name adds a bit of warmth to the conversation and relationship…………but thats just me. It thaws the initial awkwardness of conversing.

Hate to say this but I predict here in dumbass FlaDuh….we’ll get the vapid, snotty, incompetent, racist lawn ornament boy for our next governor. One…we imported 100,000 from the PR after Maria And they ain’t goin back anytime soon or never. He appeals to them cause they’re the second biggest mooches next to Gillum’s tribal kin. And only a professional Negro knows how to play the race card like they all do. “Merits”? “Experience”? “Honesty?” “Integrity”? Bullshit. Like they said on CNN about Kwane….those are house nigga’s words and those words are only known by Negroes that can read. And we’re the racists? Am I? You bet. Not in a superiority sense, but if you expect me to throw my race under your mule to satisfy your irrelevancy and lack of decency….and you always stand by your tribe…well I had my DNA DONE and I know who my daddy was and his daddy and his daddy before him and the one before him all the way back to before 1742.

He’s already proven he’ll have his hands out for whatever graft or bling you wave in front of him. Imagine…these people are so stupid they’ll vote for another corrupt scumbag whose currently being investigated by the FBI….over a former Naval JAG Officer ( Think Tom Cruise in a Few Good Men kind of guy ) with a stellar career fighting demrats in Congress and being pretty squeaky clean for his political career. He should be a hands-down winner. But nah…..this is the land of transient former new yakkers, jersey jerks ( I’M NOT ONE LOL ) and 1/2 of the North East who got lost on I95, wound up in south Florida and decided we didn’t have enough culture ( Meaning real Kosher Jewish deli’s and bagels and those gunnnnns….ewwwwww….takethemaway. “We didn’t have them in New York”.

This would never happen here even last year. But the hurricane has busted up our “Redneck Riveria” so badly that I don’t know if there are any places left standing where people, who up that way are staunch conservatives, would be able to vote. Now we’re left up to the whims of 3 squishy county’s out of 67, that will decide the elections. What all states like ours need, is our own electoral college set up to prevent the larger population cities from nullifying the rest of the votes of the state.
