As some of you know, Law & Order Teacher, one of our Comment Buddies here, is someone I’ve admired greatly for a few years now. He wrote the following and posted it on Facebook. I believe it truly captures what many of us (especially me!) feel about what has gone on in America and what’s happening today, and he was kind enough to allow me to post it:
“This crazy and Ill-advised War on history must stop. We have to realize that while slavery existed in the US, the Founders created our republic at their own risk. They fought against colonial tyranny and created a form of government that allows its citizens to flourish with hard work. Our country has taken steps to eradicate injustice that no other country was able to do. We fought a terrible war over slavery. Our Bill of Rights is a true blessing for its citizens. Instead of trying to obliterate our history we should celebrate our successes in human rights while we still strive to form a more perfect union.”
EXCELLENT. This is the kind of thing Trump speech writers ought to include in many of his speeches…remind Americans how great we are, and how America deserves not to obliterate our greatness in a lame attempt to be just like other countries lest we seem the best (which apparently bothers a lot of people) , but to celebrate it and strive for more.
