SO Republicans have to drop Christian talk…because Pete Butttigieg doesn’t think like they do and misinterprets Scripture.

From the linked article:  “Even Frank Luntz, a Republican pollster, praised him. “Mayor Pete just delivered his best lines of the Dem Debate by contrasting the GOP’s purported religious values with their support of forcibly separating children from their parents at the border,” he tweeted. “It is worthy of a 30 second ad.””

Meaning that even Frank Luntz is a dunce who doesn’t understand that those children’s parents have been arrested for breaking our laws and children can’t go to prison with them.  And, by the way,  does he think his idol Obama is less Christian because he started caging children, not Trump?

“The 37 year-old Christian and presidential candidate added that, “for a party that associates with Christianity to say it is OK to suggest that God would smile on the division of families at the hands of federal agents, that God would condone putting children in cages, has lost all claim to ever use religion language again.”

“Buttigieg, an openly gay Episcopalian, hired a faith engagement director to work on his campaign to connect his campaign with religious communities around the country and had made his religion a significant part of his campaign platform.”   (Z:  So his version of faith is fine, HE gets it, WE don’t…? !)

“Buttigieg also asked the crowd if Pence “stopped believing in scripture when he started believing in Donald Trump? I don’t know.””

“Dear God, protect us from those who misinterpret Your Word on the side of destroying America, which I believe was planned by YOU, a land of freedom of all kinds, unless it impedes on its inhabitants, which we know the horrid migration of illegals into our country is doing and is applauded in Your name by “religious” Leftists.  Wake them up, protect US, remind them Americans count.  Amen.”

Have  a good Sunday…keep up the prayers for our country;  every week, things are far worse.

Frank Luntz is a dunce. He just sold out to the Dems on the border by buying into their propaganda about separating children and parents. Never mind that a significant percentage are not blood relatives, but a fraud to get asylum. As for Mayor Pete, he uses his religion as a way of sanctifying his leftism. He uses Pence as punching bag even though Pence has never condemned him as Pete alleges. That just makes him a lying, opportunistic fraud. He shouldn’t use God to get ahead. Good luck trying to explain that to God.

  2. I’m not an acolyte to Frank Luntz, but he is a professional when it comes to polling and public opinion.
I doubt he’s a dunce and he is now a Trump supporter.
He was giving a professional opinion on ButtButt’s performance, which should be a warning flag to us about the appeal of our opponents..
So few Christians got o Wednesday night Bible studies and have no solid concept of doctrine.
I just listened to a Lutheran Hour sermon on the Apostles Creed, the Nicene being an expansion on it. Few Christians could recite either, the Apostles being shorter.
    I may teach that next.

Law & Order…”He shouldn’t use God to get ahead. Good luck trying to explain that to God.” That’s right. He is using God.

Had you heard that Buttigieg claimed his family was horrid to him when he ‘came out’ and his Pastor brother said that simply never happened? I heard him interviewed and he said they were all understanding, embracing and not even close to being rough on him in ANY way because he’s said he was a homosexual. I think that says a lot.

Ed, as Law & Order said, when Luntz falls for the lies, he’s a dunce. Sorry, I think he’s a fine pollster, I never implied he was not, but on this? It’s so true; a lot of those children come alone…we had thousands arrive ALONE recently. They’re not separated from parents except in their original homes, where their parents let them go alone, separated from THEM, to fend for themselves.
Of course these are the appeals of an ‘unversed’ America, not knowing the basics, believing all they hear, but Luntz’s point is not theological.
I don’t know what the Nicene Creed has to do with this but my church says it, and I know it from my days at a Lutheran Church. actually, I know them both….Good for you for teaching it.

Lutheranism is an off shoot of Catholicism. The two religions are very close. I graduated from a Lutheran college and felt very comfortable there. We recite it during Mass.

Can’t be much worse than the Pope who recently changed the Lord’s Prayer because he was “frustrated” by one verse… OK… even if I agreed with him, everything is up for grabs now. Hang on to your bible. What’s next?

Whats next, Bunker? Looks to me like the end time is getting closer, at least where our country is concerned. I mean, common sense seems to have disappeared completely! We shouldn’t. even be having the discussions and disagreements we’re having about who we are, where we came from, and why we came, or about changing any part of the Constitution and Bill of Rights that offends someone. And to boot, those with power and influence like Google, Facebook and YouTube are all on the wrong side.
    God help us!

A recent test period involving DNA testing resulted in 30% of supposed families not being related to the kids.

Any moron keeping slightly up on events would know this, but the ‘children angle’ is always in the dem playbook. It is the party of BS.

  8. My point was that Luntz was “reviewing” ButtButt’s rhetoric and delivery, not approving the content.
The creed remark was in reference to ButtButt’s theological comment.
He is twisting the Bible, as you said, but most “Christians” won’t realize that as they are biblically illiterate. The Creed is basic.

Your life is on the line. You need the REAL drug. Then along comes a cognate that LOOKS like the real drug, but TASTES better and makes you feel better about taking it and doesn’t cost you anything. Then you get way down the trail and are dying and may NEVER realize you’ve been fed fake. That’s Pete B.

@Bunkerville: The pope clearly lacks a proper exegesis of Matt 6:13 or he would never have offered such an ignorant pronouncement.

Law & Order, I grew up Armenian Orthodox and married a German Lutheran and started going to a Lutheran church here in Santa Monica….just loved it but there were insurmountable problems and I won’t go into it, but I left after Mr. Z died….
Am now at a non denominational, where I miss the liturgy a bit, but am gratified to have communion every Sunday and recite the Creed quite often, and the Lutheran Confession, too….I love the responsive things like “And also with you” which is, as you know, VERY Catholic….and I’m glad we include some of it.
Truth be told, the pastor who’s been there 35 years whispers to me he’d have no problem becoming a Catholic. Me, too, actually, but I’m not enamored by this Pope (particularly) or the ‘business’ of the church. I am wise enough to know adoration of Mary is not putting her over Christ, and, if anybody should be adored, it’s PROBABLY the one woman in history whom God picked to, basically, deliver himself into the world?
Yes, Martin Luther was a Catholic Monk and, what many Protestants don’t understand is that he did NOT hate the Catholic church at ALL, just the Indulgences and, as I say, “the business of the church.”

Bunkerville, that one thing this Pope changed has been discussed by Catholics and Protestants for years and isn’t nearly as objectionable as I thought when I looked into it….He just believes God never “LEADS” us into temptation…many Protestants don’t believe that, either, and Scripture is a bit confusing on it……but it wasn’t as horrifying as I thought when I heard “The Pope’s changing words in the Lord’s Prayer!” 🙂

Fairly good discussion here, if interested: https://www.ncronline.org/news/spirituality/francis-chronicles/god-does-not-lead-us-temptation-satan-does-pope-says

Ed, it seems clear to me that LUntz is definitely discussing the content here: “Mayor Pete just delivered his best lines of the Dem Debate by contrasting the GOP’s purported religious values with their support of forcibly separating children from their parents at the border,”

“…by contrasting…” Not “…by firing up Democrats using religion regarding this subject”..

Baysider, I don’t agree…But I’ll leave it at that. “Ignorant,” I don’t think so..many Protestants and Catholics have discussed this point for years…

  14. I brought this up on my friends radio show yesterday. Us protestants on the panel agreed that the Pope got it right on “Lead us not into….” really means “Lead us out of”, something we’ve believed for years. Even a stopped clock is right….

    Z,
Well done on your theology. I, too have a problem with the Pope, especially with the priest scandal. I nleft the Church briefly years ago over the priest scandal. As a police officer, I couldn’t accept that no one went to jail. My dad talked to me about the church and the fact it was men inside the Church who did it not the Church. I thought long and hard until I went back. Unfortunately the Church has some corrections to make.

Ed, I am sure you’re NEVER WRONG but just the way he said it leads me to think it was how Frank feels about it, too….But, you could be right! Even a stopped clock…(smile)

L&O, I don’t think the church deserves what it’s getting and I think it could even be taken this far because it’s a great way to PILE IT ON CHRISTIANITY.
Yes, the pedophilia thing is despicable and should NEVER have happened and the church should have owed up to it, but can we blame anybody for trying to hide things that bad?
But your father is right…it’s not THE CHURCH it’s the people who were bad actors IN the church. The CHURCH doesn’t teach pedophilia!!!! Quite the opposite!
Now people are getting rich off it….
I just wrote reams more but deleted it; as I said, I don’t want to speak too much on faith!

I WILL SAY ONE MORE THING, HOWEVER>….on the subject of piling it on Christianity:

I like to watch ID (Investigate Discovery) from time to time..24/7 of one-hour true-murder shows…dramatizations of the truth. I saw 2 yesterday and both the murderers wore fairly large crosses….bright on dark shirts/blouses….Now, if they were church people, I’d say “Wow, that’s part of this story…even church people murder” But there was NOTHING IN EITHER STORY which even hinted at church…NOTHING. Yet, the MURDERERS wore crosses.

Where should we think the minds of their costumers are? OF course! Piling it on. There can be NO doubt. If those two actors were Christians, they certainly wouldn’t wear their own crosses as they’re dramatizing killing an innocent person!!

Mayor Pete needs to pay more attention to the Scriptures. My Dad always told me to not criticize another mans religion. By that, I thought it meant to keep my mouth and let God decide who is right.

I will say that what is happening is primarily political, and Jesus said, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s”. We need to always keep that in mind. One thing that is disturbing is that Mayor Pete’s religious opinions are from paid advisors.

Ed, poor stewardship is precisely what nobody needs these days….I once had a (very) Christian commenter who constantly took issue with every Christian’s opinion on my comments page…we’d go to (literally) 500 comments and she’d be arguing with everybody, while ‘new’ or ‘baby’ Christians watched the Christians disagree …NOT the message I wanted for them on my blog…no need for dissension and anger! .I finally had to kindly ask her to leave. And she did. Talk about misleading…
