Man Refuses Seat Beside Woman Reading the Bible

“I like this story!  It was an excellent way to handle a problem on an airplane.  It was a typical airline flight like any other, until one elderly Christian woman was insulted for her faith.

Now, the flight attendant who stepped in is facing controversy for the way she handled the situation.

Two major airline companies have recently come under fire after the world witnessed their lack of care and blatant abuse of their customers.

But I must admit, when I read this story I couldn’t help but smile.  The young flight attendant in this situation stands head and shoulders above the rest and it’s no wonder this Facebook post has been shared over 83,000 times!

The altercation reportedly began when a middle-aged man arrived at his seat on a crowded flight, but refused to sit down.  His seat was next to an elderly white woman reading her Bible, Disgusted the Muslim man immediately summoned the flight attendant and “demanded another seat.”  The outraged man proceeded to tell the young flight attendant that he refused to sit next to an “infidel.”

So the flight attendant did what any good customer service representative would do and explained that she would try to find another seat.  After searching for a seat, the flight attendant returned and reportedly stated: “There are no more seats in economy, but I will check with the captain and see if there is something in first class.”

Almost 10 minutes later, the flight attendant returned and explained that she had found one available seat.

According to Jones’ story, the flight attendant continued: “It is our company policy to never move a person from economy to first class, but being that it would be some sort of scandal to force a person to sit next to an unpleasant person, the captain agreed to make the switch to first class.”

Before the outraged man could reply, the attendant gestured to the elderly Christian woman with the Bible and continued: “Madam, if you would so kindly retrieve your personal items, we would like to move you to the comfort of first class as the captain doesn’t want you to sit next to such an unpleasant person.”

It didn’t take long for passengers in the surrounding seats to applaud, while some even gave a standing ovation for the flight attendant.  I couldn’t agree more with the brave flight attendant’s decision to defend this elderly woman and her faith!

This story is a breath of fresh air!  It is worth sharing.  Please pass it on if you agree with the actions the flight attendant took.”

Z:  Do I know for sure if is true?  some say YES, some say NO………but things like this HAVE happened…when I researched it, I saw stories similar to this but loved this one and had to share it TODAY 🙂  And, Snopes said UNKNOWN, which they usually call a story when they’d admit it’s TRUE except they don’t much like it 🙂

Blessings on Sunday to you all!

I posted a similar anecdote today amongst the junk I hurl out each mornin.

A devout Muslim hailed a black cab (hackney) in London and immediately demanded that the cabbie turn off the radio since his religious dogma decree that he must not listen to music because in the time of the prophet there was no music, especially Western music . . . the sounds of the infidel.

The driver shut off the radio, got out, and opened the door. “What are you doing?” the Muslim asked him.

“In the time of the prophet, there were no taxis either, so piss off and wait for a camel.”

My Sunday started with a BIG SMILE, THANKS

I read words by the Great WINSTON CHURCHILL, WROTE EARLY IN BEFORE HIS HIS PRIME MINISTER DUTIES, which nail the Muslims for what they are. Can’t remember when it was, but, it is just as timely back then as it is now.

Thanks for the heart warming stories, Z and Bocopro. I always appreciate a good story, or joke. Well, so long as I am not the butt of the joke.

While preparing my butter-scrambled egg breakfast today, I was musing that right now society has reached the point that we all talk different languages. The left has fallen into the tired, old collective communist talk. We capitalists always talk about efficient and beneficial markets. Libertarians obsess about the evils of big government. Christians talk about the blood of the Lamb. Who cares what Muslims talk about because it is all bad, anyway.

Welcome to the new Tower of Babel.

Z, both my desk calendar and our appt. calendars show Monday, the 23rd as being the 1st day of Autumn, so its probably very early Monday, like 1 or 2 a.m. (Its all trivial, for sure!).

  11. Baysider says:

From The River War in the Sudan: “How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. … Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die. But the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it.”
    WLS Churchill

Whether this story is true or not, is it not telling that it is COMPLETELY believable? I did not at first believe the story out of England several years ago about a woman told she could not eat lunch at her desk because it offended a Muslim co-worker who was not eating during Ramadan. It was true.
Crap like this (to which the correct response to the complaint would have been “so?”) makes stories like yours and bp’s utterly realistic.

  12. How can any Muslim travel commercial airlines and avoid sitting next to an infidel? To them we’re all infidels!

Great story, Z, true or not!

Bocopro…ya, that Muslim story’s been around. You say you POST and you might even have a blog you post on, but I can barely keep up with this one, so I hope you don’t mind I haven’t found it and posted on yours….I just can’t. I barely ever post anywhere anymore.
So sorry…haven’t had any energy for months; physical Tuesday….hoping to get my old astonishing zeal back.

Sorry, Mal…what I meant was “the leaves don’t change in ONE DAY!” That’s all. I know seasons have days they start on. THanks!

Chuck and Baysider…..Churchwill was so right.

And Baysider, there are now American companies who can’t serve any pork because Muslims complained. Imagine, just IMAGINE< if some Christian said "I will NOT eat Halal" at a Muslim company? Think they'd stop serving Halal? 🙂

Glad you all liked this story…I SURE DID.

Nah . . . I ain’t got no blog. As a compulsive writer, tho, I simply MUST wrangle innocent nouns and suspicious verbs and rascally adverbs and unidentified flying adjectives into a daily screed, rant, tirade, harangue, rodomontade — whatever — or go all bare sark and ‘tetchy’ when I see what the igoranti and illigitimi have come up with while in the lap of Morpheus I dreamt of Marie Osmond, or Michaela Conlin, or Milady when we were both young, flatbellied, and limberbacked.

Each mornin I visit about 6 blogs, occasionally dropping trail markers on those whose familiars appreciate thought, wordsmithing, mindgames, and oblique but basically conservative perspectives. My e-mail addee group has about two dozen members, some of whom then share my daily rant or various gifs and jpgs I’ve purloined for the nonce.

So I reckon my total readership on e-mail is maybe 50 or so. One guy posts one of my rants each Wodensdaeg on his site, calling it “Ronsday,” and another posts many of ’em on Facebook. My son puts ’em out to his coworkers (nearly all of whom are retired military guys), and occasionally I’ll get a note from someone completely unknown asking for permission to use a neologism or phrase in my stuff that caught his fancy.

As with much of what we do or say, it all goes back to self-expression, and being full of it — or at least full of somethin — I gotta either vent or Vesuvius.

OH! No reason for you to be sorry, Z. I am sorry for even bringing it up! ;o)
Living in Vegas we enjoy it from now thru spring. We’re tired of the heat and ready for

Kid…great GREAT line…and SO SO TRUE!!!

Baysider….you mean how Jews managed without making demands , too, don’t you…yes, what Jew ever said “Our cafeteria at work MUST stop making dairy and meat dishes in the SAME KITCHEN!” or “EVERYBODY has to STOP EATING PORK BECAUSE WE CAN”T!”

Z, we had very little or no monsoons this Summer which made more 100 plus degree days this year and everybody is relieved we are gradually returning to 80 degree highs. From now thru May, you can’t beat it here.
