Sunday Faith Blog

A friend sent me the quote below and I knew I’d been given my Sunday Faith Blog from greater minds than mine.  That “greater minds” includes but is not exclusive (if you get my drift) to my friend Roger from Indiana who wrote this and sent it yesterday:

“America is “George Bailey” and the citizens are all his friends. In the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” Bailey is a good solid citizen who runs a bank that has been very helpful to the community. George gets into legal trouble when money to be deposited is lost through no fault of his own.  Actually it’s Uncle Billy who accidentally lost it. . Bailey is charged with the “crime” and faces jail time. When the people find out he’s in trouble for something he didn’t do, they all rally around him and help make up the loss so he’s cleared and charges are dropped. Americans are rallying around our country now. Nobody here caused the plague, but everyone wants to help our leaders find a cure. That’s the difference between Community and Communism, huh?”

It made me feel like crying.  Seriously.  I see all the GOOD going on in America these days and am stunned, humbled, so happy and so very, very proud.   It makes me weepy to see New Yorkers, every 7 pm, open windows and clap and cheer and turn lights on and off for first responders, hospital staffs, etc.  It makes me really emotional to  see a planeload of Georgian (‘state of..’ not country) medical folks on their way to help New York,  to see Samaritan’s Purse work so hard to get that hospital across from Mt Sinai set up so fast (though they got, instead of credit, a lot of criticism because, after all “what does Franklin Graham know about medicine?” as if he was the man walking around diagnosing and treating?  Anyway, all these things ARE GOOD, THE BEST OF AMERICA.

And I ask for prayers for Americans.   And yes, Roger, definitely…the difference between Community and Communism.  Well said.

After every ‘speech’ VP Pence makes at the Update Pressers, he includes at the end “…heal our land.”    A not-so-veiled reference to:

2 Chronicles 7:14 …. “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Have a great Sunday, Geeez readers;  praying for you all….let’s all pray for each other….and our COMMUNITY.

While most Americans are rallying round those fighting the good fight the evil left never sleeps.
Hopefully God is watching and one day will one day soon smite the sinners and money changers. Observations:
All media including FOX screaming “Unemployment rate hits 4.4%.” Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t it at around 5% during the end of the Obama regime sans Corona Virus?
Porky Pelosi looking for a few trillion more to take care of her peeps.
More and more it looks like Andrew Cuomo’s malfeasance will be rewarded at an open convention.

I see a lot of good going on in our country today. We should celebrate that. If we can celebrate it, and do, then I think the cumulative good will become transferable and all of us will begin feeling better.

Peter’s right to observe that there is an awful lot of awful surrounding us and I know that Peter keep’s a running list of who these evil people are, but I have to say that their presence isn’t like one of the biblical plagues we read about in Sunday school. They are plagues, yes … but they are also self-imposed. God didn’t send them to punish us, we chose them in order to punish ourselves —morons that we are.

Now it seems to me that in life, people have two clear choices. They can either have chicken salad, or chicken crap. We get to choose which of these is most palatable. So far, or so it would seem, a large number of Americans have chosen the latter.

I’d rather have the salad, please.

Z, I can’t wait for this illness and lock down to end, as I picture myself running through town like George does in the movie scene “Merry Christmas Bedford Falls!” unfortunately there are no shortages of the mister Potters of the world. Thankfully we can chose the later and take the salad (good one, Mustang).

I thought Pence’s message yesterday was particularly powerful (and emotional, but that wasn’t me getting all verklempt… I had something in my eye)… Prayers on this Palm Sunday to all of my family, friends (met and yet unmet) and all of the sick and suffering, and to all of our courageous front line health workers, nurses, doctors and first responders. Be well, all.

“Its a wonderful life” is a great simile for our situation today. It also seems more than a coincidence we are being told the next week to ten days will be the most critical,
    i.e., THE WEEK. BEFORE EASTER.

‘PORKY PELOSI’ All other names, for that poor excuse of a human being, don’t even come close to ‘PORKY PELOSI’. i JUST LOVE IT. No more San Fran Nan for me, it’s PORKY PELOSI FROM NOW ON.
Porky Pelosi and crying Chucky, are hands down, the most ugly, of all ugly Americans. I’m not talking about looks, I’m talking about an UGLY WHICH GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THEIR SOLE.
The way they lie and twist the truth, daily, is breathtaking.
I better stop now, I’m getting myself pissed off, just visualizing their UGLINESS in my head.

    Ok I’ve calmed down
———-Stay safe and positive, this is the greatest country on the face of this earth, and that won’t ever change. Find something to smile about, there is plenty out there.———–

  6. Well, one good thing about this.
I’ve been invited to friend’s churches in the past and have always had to say I had my own church to attend.
I’ve attended three churches this morning 🙂

The virus is supposed to peak around April 26 in Ohio. I hear lots of doctors and nurses in Italy have died from this virus as they treated the ill. Lots of bad out there. I hope it doesn’t come knocking at your door – to all of you.

Peter! That is a beautiful video…it really helped …thank you SO MUCH. And for your comment… YES! It was worst during Obama…..Honestly, even our stock porfolios were SO much higher during Trump that what many of us lost was ‘free’, if you know what I mean…it was from profiting because of Trump’s economy. Which WILL COME BACK. I am very optimistic. Actually, I NEVER realized HOW optimistic a person I am!! EVER. Then I ask “Are you SO afraid of all the worst happening, you just think you’re optimistic because you can’t bear to think of it otherwise?” YIKES…I hope I am just a new optimist!!

I can tell you all I have been BLESSED , so much recently!…from my own church, a sweet family bought a bakery last year…the other day, I hear a doorbell, answer it, and she’s waving from her car having left a box of 12 designer cupcakes for me…GORGEOUS. (and delicious..any cupcake with a piece of sugared bacon on top is FOR ME!!)
ANother family knew I was out of sanitizer and texted “we’re coming by!” There it was, sitting on my front porch.
My battery was dead, AAA charged it and said ‘Drive this for 30 minutes, fully open” It was 11 am in Los Angeles, ANY other time, I’d have had to drive an hour, bumper to bumper, to FIND where I could open it up to good speeds but, NOBODY IS ON THE FWYS and I let ‘er RIP and did the job! I’ve never had a dead battery in this car in 10 years!

I thought the other day “I NEED CASH but hate to go to the bank!” (I usually keep about a thou here in case of earthquake) and BANGO, my German stepdaughter sends a Birthday package 2 months late because she had had something professionally printed…a beautiful image of sunlight streaming through trees on a woman walking in a park and Michaela had superimposed “GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS” on the picture….and SHE INCLUDED A TON OF $50 bills! I SWEAR! Blew my MIND!!!! She’s never included AMERICAN CASH!

I love the song I NEED YOU EVERY HOUR…and had scheduled it for the last Bible study class we held, I think March 7, which was ultimately canceled….2 weeks later, our leader sends an email with the lyrics TO THAT SONG, unknowing that’s what I’d selected….
SO SO many “coincidences!” and Acts of SUCH kindness….
I never thought I’d share this stuff, it’s rather personal and I am rather close mouthed about personal stuff, but I hope just seeing those things blessed you, too, and that you, too start opening your hearts to BLESSINGS …

Did I bore you all to death? I hope not.

Ed, I call it THE WIDE WEB OF WORSHIP because people are not bunched up in churches, they’re in their homes listening to multiple church services……….it’s like God’s thrown a NET across America and we’re all home taking communion in our PJ’s. greeting our beloved Church friends on the side of the YouTube video “Hey, I’m finally on time!” “Good morning, everybody!” etc…such fun!!!

CHUCK! GREAT GREAT RANT! We’re with you, brother!!!

MAL! I had that thought, too. Isn’t it amazing that it’s around EASTER all this is going on? People think the typical Palm Sunday greeting “HOSANNAH” means “ALLELUIAH” or is all about adoring Jesus, but it meant in Biblical times “SAVE US” Interesting, isn’t it?

Mustang; AN ASTONISHING AMOUNT OF GOOD< as I put in my post….

People parking in hospital parking lots at night, lights on, praying in their cars for those victims in side! New Yorkers yelling, singing, clapping our their windows every PM at 7….for first responders, docs, etc. Food banks, mask-making………….it's brought out the very best in us.

I think this brought more 'best' out than 9/11, frankly. ON a one-by-one individual basis.

Kid, I don’t know how Italy came to the game so late…….or inefficiently. Plus, their population is old PLUS , the experts are saying they handled the stats terribly…putting down COVID when elderly patients who had heart disease died…
they’ve done one LOUSY job and I feel for those people…and their health care workers, for sure.

I don’t know the details of Italy Z, but the number of older people most definitely have an effect on the statistics. I also wonder about the age of the doctors and nurses there. If they were young they shouldn’t have been dying?

@Mustang. Z was going to send you some of those cupcakes, but I told her you were on a diet.

Kid, cupcakes to Mustang? NO I wasn’t. heh heh!~

By the way, these are SUCH gourmet cupcakes…absolutely gorgeous…nothing too weird, just so pretty to look at since they’re smaller…some have a chocolate heart or peanut butter/chocolate drop on top, etc…mmmm
    Sorry, Mustang!!

Kid, I still believe the elderly are more ‘at risk,’ but it’s becoming clearer that many health thirty-somethings are coming in. I just saw a report on CNN where a young Black female doc in NY said she saw plenty of those…the problem being SHE DIDN’T INCLUDE IF THEY PASSED AWAY. BIG BIG difference. Yes, I see FOX giving facts and giving optimism because of, or in spite of facts, and then I switch to CNN and it is 24/7 NIGHTMARE…That doctor I just mentioned says “I don’t see this ending soon..” CNN reporter asks “till the end of the year?” Doctor “Yes, I think so.”

EVERYBODY PLEASE READ THIS…I HAD TRUSTED ONE AMERICA NEWS BUT DO NOT ANYMORE:

So I’m watching One America News and suddenly there’s something that made me FLIP:

“The Trump campaign is donating meals to hospitals in the New York area while HOLDING “VIRTUAL RALLIES ON TELEVISION”…” The virtual rallies line is illustrated by a Press Conference with Trump and Dr Brix standing behind him!

AON FELL FOR WHAT THE LEFT’S BEEN SAYING, THAT THESE PRESS CONFERENCES ARE JUST PEP RALLIES FOR TRUMP

    I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT…..

THEN they mention that Trump’s getting in hot water around the world because “HIS AIM IS TO SECURE SUPPLIES FOR AMERICA AMID THE SHORTAGE”

i’D HAVE THAT THAT’S THE GOAL…But some French doctor said they had a planeload of stuff from somewhere in China, I think? Or Singapore? and it was about to take off to France when TRUMP OFFERED THREE TIMES WHAT THEY WERE GETTING FOR THE STUFF AND IT’S NOW HERE.

well, you can’t DO that…so we’re going to have some legal problems……….but it really made Trump sound like a loathsome creep hoping the French suffer if we can get OUR STUFF…

I don’t know what to say about the OAN stuff. I will say I don’t see this ending soon either. I hear it’s supposed to ‘peak’ in Ohio around April 26.

The main question I have is if (probably) younger people get it and recover are they still carriers ? I’ve read about people being re-infected/affected. So once the all clear is given is the virus still being transmitted around on surfaces or even airborne as well.

I think this is going to be a problem for a while.

I’m getting about a week to the gallon as I still do some shopping.

Being IT it is easy for me to work from home as I remote desktop to my work PC. There isn’t much lost by my not being in the office. So I’m fortunate. Not so for lots of people I guess. Though if those people are home and still getting a paycheck they’re doing pretty well too. To the others I wish them well. I haven’t seen their stories but there must be some.

We haven’t reached critical mass yet. The more people who think this is being overplayed the faster we’ll get there. That’s my story until proven otherwise. Another month or so should tell us a lot.

Is Trump “in on it” / using this for some purpose, particularly to curtail civil rights ? That is the last thing I’d believe. He was riding high on the economic wave and very much enjoying it as we all were and will again.
