A friend sent me the quote below and I knew I’d been given my Sunday Faith Blog from greater minds than mine. That “greater minds” includes but is not exclusive (if you get my drift) to my friend Roger from Indiana who wrote this and sent it yesterday:
“America is “George Bailey” and the citizens are all his friends. In the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” Bailey is a good solid citizen who runs a bank that has been very helpful to the community. George gets into legal trouble when money to be deposited is lost through no fault of his own. Actually it’s Uncle Billy who accidentally lost it. . Bailey is charged with the “crime” and faces jail time. When the people find out he’s in trouble for something he didn’t do, they all rally around him and help make up the loss so he’s cleared and charges are dropped. Americans are rallying around our country now. Nobody here caused the plague, but everyone wants to help our leaders find a cure. That’s the difference between Community and Communism, huh?”
It made me feel like crying. Seriously. I see all the GOOD going on in America these days and am stunned, humbled, so happy and so very, very proud. It makes me weepy to see New Yorkers, every 7 pm, open windows and clap and cheer and turn lights on and off for first responders, hospital staffs, etc. It makes me really emotional to see a planeload of Georgian (‘state of..’ not country) medical folks on their way to help New York, to see Samaritan’s Purse work so hard to get that hospital across from Mt Sinai set up so fast (though they got, instead of credit, a lot of criticism because, after all “what does Franklin Graham know about medicine?” as if he was the man walking around diagnosing and treating? Anyway, all these things ARE GOOD, THE BEST OF AMERICA.
And I ask for prayers for Americans. And yes, Roger, definitely…the difference between Community and Communism. Well said.
After every ‘speech’ VP Pence makes at the Update Pressers, he includes at the end “…heal our land.” A not-so-veiled reference to:
2 Chronicles 7:14 …. “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Have a great Sunday, Geeez readers; praying for you all….let’s all pray for each other….and our COMMUNITY.
