GOWDY: I think he’s right.

From Trey Gowdy:

“I’m not saying Covid-19 isn’t real… But Pay attention folks, there’s much more going on here than what meets the eye.
Is it a coincidence that just when the economy is booming, the stock market is setting record highs, we are winning the trade wars, school shootings have stopped, our nation is at peace, the Democratic party is a disaster and so is their likely nominee? (Biden). He hasn’t a chance in hell & they’re not about to let an outsider(Bernie) destroy their scheme.
It looks like Trump is a sure bet for reelection after fending off 3 years of investigations and impeachment, then all of a sudden world crisis pandemic. Stock market tumbles, companies are laying off employees, everything is closed and canceled, CEO’s of giant companies are resigning and indictments are coming.
Now they say there are a couple ways a President doesn’t win reelection. Those are an unpopular war or a poor economy.

But there is something larger going on here driving this sudden outbreak right after Trump beats an impeachment. Especially the fact that it (Corona Virus) originated in China who we are in a global trade war with; brought on by Trump. Let’s not forget Biden’s back door deals with CHINA as well.

China doesn’t want 4 more years of Trump either. It all seems rather convenient for the nations and opponents of our current President and economy 5 months before an election. Couldn’t have hit at a more perfect time.

With the Democrats running out of campaign talking points, in light of no school shootings, no migrant caravans at the southern border, fighting in Syria winding down, North Korea not firing missiles and Trump beating a sham impeachment. The Corona Virus gave them one last hail Mary to try and point fingers at Trump with the clock winding down in 2020.

This is almost the perfect fascist playbook. Control the population with fear-mongering and panic, control the media, spread propaganda and the fan-favorite disarm the population. Oh, and did anyone notice that while they are mad as hell at Trump for not sending aid to Ukraine, they THEMSELVES voted AGAINST giving ANY emergency aid to all Americans ?

Sorry but I don’t think we are all going to die. Remember when Ebola was what was going to kill us all, and the media kept showing the piles of body bags that were prepared for the fallout. Then a month later it was totally forgotten.

The common flu has killed more people this year already and the media is SILENT!  A handful of deaths out of 320 million Americans and we are in panic tearing down our society and costing our economy billions in the wake. It all just seems fishy, a little too well-timed if you ask me.”

Z:   Me, too………I’ve thought this all along.   What the…………?   And nobody will EVER KNOW.  WILL THEY?

Eau Que . . . now, first of all, the true death toll from cough-19 can’t be accurately calculated, primarily because of politics complicated by deliberate figure fudging and widespread ineptitude.

But – and although I’ve always liked Gowdy’s take on things — the official number this morning has gone over 100,000 US deaths from the WuHooFlu. No way the number from “ordinary” or seasonal flu is that high . . . prob’ly closer to 20,000, tops.

Gowdy makes a lotta noise, but doesn’t seem to get a whole lot done about anything ‘cept suggest, question, criticize, and condemn. Basically a big hat and no cattle.

As I’ve said before, if you built a ruling oligarchy patterned after Slick’s wife, you’d get China – devious, greedy, vicious, paranoid, and lethal.

The real issue here is that rights and freedoms have been modified, restrained, suspended, and politicized as never before . . . and the problem is that once confiscated, they’re virtually never returned en toto or intact.

Nearly every strain of flu in the past half century has come from China. And there is absolutely nothing we can do about that, even if the regime WERE clever enough to manufacture and promulgate a new strain that simply kills old people faster than the previous ones.

China will continue to steal patents, mass-produce cheap knock-offs, and undercut Murkan or Euro prices due to inexhaustible supply of slave-like labor, all while being snotty and inscrutable. We’re certainly not going to go to war over it, and trade sanctions mean nothing to a whole lot of the world, especially in markets who regularly deal with China already.

About half the people in the US who test positive for covid-19 antibodies never had any more severe symptoms than a routine cold. And of all the people over 65 or so who reportedly died from it, the majority had other health issues, such as asthma, COPD, emphysema, obesity, diabetes, or cancer . . . just as with the “reg’lar” flu.

We’ll never know the true number of fatalities from ChiCom Checkout, but you can be confident it will include victims of suicide, accident, violence, stress, and various pharmaceutical misadventures, from fentanyl to Drano. You can’t trust Cuomo or CNN or even the W.H.O. anyway, and I’m a bit suspicious of the CDC and NIH.

As of this moment, I’d say the figures coming out of the hotspots (Noo Yuk, ChiCongo, Miasma, Lost Angels, and Sea Addled) are inflated by at least 20% by deaths from other causes, and deaths directly or indirectly related to the lockdown are suppressed by even more than that, prob’ly around 50%, at LEAST.

Will there be a second wave this fall? Oh, prob’ly. And who knows – maybe XI & Co. will come up with new and exciting ways to install a friendly gummint in his biggest customer’s territory.

But as with all epidemics, the fix will be what’s being called “herd immunity,” and that’s been very effectively delayed by Fauxci and the other “experts” who prefer their own voices to all others’, whether they know anything about the subject at hand or not. Once at least half the population has developed at least some immunity, the spread will be inhibited. A good vaccine would be nice.

I’m in my 80th lap around that shiny thing in the sky, have coronary stents, and smoked for 30 years while self-indulging in deep-fried cholesterol and refined sugars. Somethin’s bound to get me sooner or later, prob’ly sooner, and I’m in as much danger from SARS or any of the HN varieties or a DVT or PE as anything else.

My auto-reflex when any politician appears on my TV is to kill the sound or change the channel . . . ANY politician, including judges, past-potuses, congressycophants, senilators, and those-who-would-be-king. In fact, sometimes I almost injure myself trying to silence forked tongues or banish two-faced frauds. Might slip and break my neck avoiding Trump . . . . .

Do hafta say, tho, that Quid-Pro-Joe is an old-faithful of gaffes, hyperboles, non-sequiturs, and malaprops. Hard to shut him down . . . entertainment, you know.

  2. Trey Gowdy:

The common flu has killed more people this year already.

As Bocopro points out above, that particular statement by Gowdy is a lie.

I do wish that those on the Right would not tell lies.

This past week, Rush Limbaugh barked (paraphrase):

Think of what happened during the 1918 Flu Pandemic, folks. Nobody wore masks, and nothing shut down.

We have the historical record to the contrary. Look it up, Rush!

And I, personally, have my father’s words:

“The undertaker came to the house and embalmed Chrissie at the house. He dumped the blood behind the barn.” Dad was seven years old, and clearly recalld the loss of the circumstances of the death of his beloved, and last, sister; his first sister succumbed years before to diphtheria.

Chrissie died of the aftereffects of the flu at age 7, which was not the age of most flu deaths at that time.

Why did the undertaker come to the house? The undertakers were closed — as was most of everything else here in Northern Virginia — including churches. By government order? Yes! Dead bodies piling up all over the streets of D.C. resulted in government shutdown.

Let me reiterate: those of the Right should tell the truth about this Wuhan Flu — whatever it is.

    Look it up, Rush!

  3. Mustang says:

Well, don’t look for truth in the absence of verifiable facts. If there is a problem, it is that most people do not understand how medical data collection works and this opens the door to cranks like Gowdy to get another fifteen minutes of fame. According to the CDC, the estimate of Flu illnesses Oct19-Apr20 range between 39-56 million. Medical visitations associated with the above range between 18-26 million. Hospitalizations associated with the above range between 410,000-740,000, and deaths associated with seasonal influenza range between 24,000-62,000. These are huge variations. The explanation, according to the CDC is that facts are limited by three factors:
    1. Cumulative reported rates “may be” under-estimated due to systemic reporting delays
    2. Data is not available in real time.
    3. Estimates of infection are based on data from prior seasons rather than actual infection rates.

There is no reason to fear what we don’t know. What should worry us is that despite billions of dollars expended on national health care reporting, scientists continue to rely on previous years’ models to predict (or guess at) current year infection rates.

As Alfred E. Newman used to say, “What? Me Worry?” It’s Miller Time.

Bocopro…I’m not sure so many flus come from China….. You are totally right with “Gowdy makes a lotta noise, but doesn’t seem to get a whole lot done about anything ‘cept suggest, question, criticize, and condemn. Basically a big hat and no cattle.”
Of course, Gowdy’s no longer in politics so it’s hard to get much done, but he has, over the years, brought excellent points up…..The problem is that he and SO many others on the Right are trying so hard to get America to pay attention…..Jim Jordan, Nunes, SO many are being ignored ….

And UNTRUTHS like NO MASKS in the SPANISH FLU don’t help…..(there are photographs of Americans in mask during that time) don’t help his credibility.

I think all of us would have a difficult time disclaiming words from the post which I’ll post again here:

“China doesn’t want 4 more years of Trump either.

Oh, and did anyone notice that while they are mad as hell at Trump for not sending aid to Ukraine, they THEMSELVES voted AGAINST giving ANY emergency aid to all Americans ?”

These were the points I posted this here for.

Mustang, Not sure Gowdy has ever been a ‘crank’…since numbers are so hard to nail down, as you say, we need not err on the side that HE is wrong…..
And yes, many have had the flu…maybe less this Spring because we’ve all stayed home.
Scientists have done fairly well on predictions about flu….the vaccines can only be based on what they think will hit us any particular year, and those vaccines have probably protected a lot of us. At least most years.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s as plain as the nose on your face. The dems have been in a very obvious self-preservation panic for at least a few years now. Yes, this virus is all about democrats and the election, and the shining star on the outhouse is mail-in ballots. What – you can go to Wal-Mart but not a voting booth? Perfect democrat ‘logic’.

Will much of America figure it out? Who knows.

And whomever Biden (or probably the DNC) picks as VP is the one who will really be running for President. Good golly, watch it be that overweight, seriously overdue for dental work, transgender and out of work Buckwheat from Georgia.

I hate what you said about Gowdy, Nunes or Issa and Barr and others…not wanting to destroy their lives to get “some puke” but IF THAT DOESN”T HAPPEN SOON, WE DON”T GET RID OF MOST OF THE PUKES AND AMERICA’S OVER…. We could say Michael Flynn inadvertently did this…but who knows for sure, right?

SO HOW DOES THE DNC SUCCEED AS THE MOB? Because you’re right……as I always say around here, the Right gets it and complains but NOTHING HAPPENS.

and I think everyone, including MRS Biden, knows she won’t be First Lady for long.

  10. Baysider says:

Exactly what I’ve said from DAY ONE. Especially since localized studies on Covid caused deaths are showing they’re over reported by 25%. Why is that?

Well, almost exactly what I’ve said. Like others here, I wish more fact checking was done. I’ve seen the posters the government posted closing down places of assembly, churches in the Spanish Flu. Saying things like that diminishes the credibility of the messenger. Please! Stick to facts. It’s bad enough. And I think the gist is well worth examining.

It seems like so much flu comes from China. My mother nearly died of the Asian flu in the 50’s, and got very sick with the Hong Kong flu in the 60’s (the one that killed more than this thing). Then there was the Bird flu. While I try to take care with WebMD’s biases, I found this reasonable: https://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/qa/where-do-influenza-viruses-originate-and-how-do-they-mutate

You might recall a couple of weeks ago I brought this up on your blog, Z, and that the ideal timing for this was too perfect to be just a coincidence. The big question is, did China plan on the world understanding it was intentional, or are they unexpectedly scrambling in embarrassment over it? Its also been speculated it might just end the current Communist regime and end up bringing them back some semblance of freedom. Whatever, we need to go to war over this; not with guns and bombs but with economics. China simply can’t afford to lose the huge advantage the world has allowed them to have, esp. our own politicians who were too busy stuffing their own coffers to give a damn about the folks they represented. In order for it to work, we need to unify the rest of the world who would also lose out if they didn’t join.

“Bocopro…I’m not sure so many flus come from China…..”

Coupla weeks ago I did some clickin around on flu origination points. Now, as I always told my students, don’t take the word of just one single source on the ‘net, unless it’s a .edu or a .mil. Generally speaking the .edus give you honest and genuine data with only minimal bias.

And it’s a given that the .mils have an agenda, but generally the data are accurate; they are also, however, often only partial or focused on specific issues. Still, you know where you stand with ‘em.

Anyway, I did some unprofessional digging on various flus since 1950 – H1N1, SARS, Swine Flu, Hong Kong, and about 4 more . . . think it was 9 in all, and came out of it confident that at least 6 originated in China, with one being a solid unknown. Didn’t keep the material, and don’t remember it clearly.

Did find two sites which strongly suggest that cultural (including dietary) practices in China facilitate animal-to-human leaps of various infectious organisms, including viruses. One is a fondness for freshly slaughtered animal tissue without what we would call hygienic safeguards.

But that doesn’t answer all the questions, ‘cuz I can remember as a kid slaughtering rabbits, squirrels, chickens, hogs, and other livestock in what today would be considered “primitive” conditions for immediate use in the day’s meal. And when I was very young, we didn’t have refrigeration, only a genuine “icebox” and a basement room which served as a root cellar ‘cause it stayed cool in summer.

    ~ ~ ~ ~

“Boco, You think the DNC, or in probably more accurate terms The Mob are powerful enough to keep everyone on the right impotent […]?”

Seems to me more the case that the left has a master plan, an agenda while the right is disorganized and often rudderless until faced with a crisis. Basically, I see the left as consumed with lust for power with no real intent to “serve” the “American people” but to perpetuate their own game plan while enriching themselves individually.

Other than national security I don’t see much evidence of any general strategy or agenda by the right, although individual self-enrichment does occur in its membership.

In other words, the left wants power for both party and personal gain and will continue to feed and grow government in any form which promotes their agenda. Generally speaking, most conservatives will waste taxpayer money just as fast as leftistos, but on different issues. And they’d prefer smaller central government rather than the voracious multi-limbed monster the left so adores.

The left is like The Mob, parasitic and focused in many ways, while the right is like a loose association of individual thugs with similar but nebulous goals and no strong godfather until the ship hits the sand.

  13. Bob says:

“Never Attribute to Malice That Which Is Adequately Explained by Stupidity”

This is one of those aphorisms that contain more than a little wisdom. COVID-19 started as a screw-up in China. The Chinese after incompetently letting the virus into the wild recognized the threat of a run-a-way a pandemic and tried to make the best of a bad situation. First, blame the USA. Second, buy up all the medical gear in the world to make a profit out of this thing. It’s the old “make lemonade” thing Chinese style.

Then, the world experts (epidemiologists) got their chance to justify their jobs by trotting out predictions using models that had not been verified with that stuff called data. Epidemiologists tend to be medical doctors, but that doesn’t mean they understand numbers outside of their bank accounts.

Experts have always had a problem in being expert. For example, about 80% of all money managers’ portfolio returns are beaten soundly by returns of random selected market portfolios. The expert medical industry manages to kill around 200,000 people because of bad diagnoses, mistakes in prescriptions, surgeries gone bad, and just plain incompetency. Experts are not as cool or knowledgeable as they pretend.

Real systems are modeled because those systems cannot be physically analyzed, and the models are then taken as a substitute for reality. Experts use models to make predictions, and most of the time their models cannot recreate the past data. There is some sort of unholy circle going on, here.

This is my summary of the situation.

COBID-19 resulted from the incompetent management of a laboratory.

China recognized the problem and tried to make money and political advantage.

Experts recognized a chance to justify their existence, and produced a set of incompetent predictions that led to a drastic curtailment of economic activity world-wide.

Politicians recognized this world-wide disaster as a crisis of unparalleled opportunity for their purposes.

Trump does the stupid thing and lashes out at the press, daily, claiming that he made the perfect call. This will be debated for centuries. Every word out of his mouth should be to express how wonderful everything will be after this disaster is over, if it will ever be over.

My point is that this whole thing started out as a big mistake, compounded by big mistakes made by so-called experts. Now, there surely are conspiracies to make political gain of the situation. This was not some ultimate scheme to take our freedoms, it just looks that way.

I hope they give us two weeks notice before sending us back out into the real world. I think we’ll all need the time to become ourselves again. And by ourselves, I mean lose 10 pounds, cut our hair, and get used to not drinking at 9:00 a.m.
New monthly budget: Gas: $0. Entertainment: $0. Clothes: $0. Groceries: $2,799.
I stepped on my scale this morning. It said: “Please practice social distancing. Only one person at a time on scale.”
Not to brag, but I haven’t been late to anything in over 6 weeks.
Appropriate analogy: “The curve is flattening so we can start lifting restrictions now” = “The parachute has slowed our rate of descent, so we can take it off now.”
People keep asking: “Is Coronavirus REALLY all that serious”? Listen y’all, the churches and casinos are closed. When Heaven and Hell agree on the same thing its probably pretty serious.

Bob, what you say makes a lot of sense. However, the timing (our election) and Trump’s renegotiating their trade agreement is too much to be a coincidence, esp. when up to that time Trump was so far ahead and a shoe-in for reelection, something China doesn’t want. They want others that can be bought, hence, they create a pandemic. Problem solved.

The northern red and big gray tree rats are the toughest animals to skin I’ve ever encountered. Rabbits you can do with your bare hands … don’t even need a blade ’til you get ready to butcher the carcass.

But skinnin a northern squirrel ain’t for limp-wrists, and it’s easier if you have a single-edge razor blade to get started and a two good sets of slip-joint pliers for the pullin.

And THEN, after you’ve cut up the meat, you gotta score the muscle-sac membrane and soak it overnite in salt water or it’ll be tougher’n a quick-cooked combat boot.

Good eatin, tho, when properly skillet fried and sided with a plate of onion rings. Makes a tasty gravy, too, for smashed taters.

My grandmother was a magician with shepherd’s pies, specially cottontail rabbit and squirrel. She had that gift of knowin what to put in the stew, what NOT to put in it, which pot to use, how hot to make the fire, which order and when to put in the different ingredients, and how long to let it simmer.

Everything she ever cooked was guh-RATE, but I don’t think she ever used a shred of oregano in her life. If it wasn’t somethin you’d likely find in West Virginny or East Tennessee, she wasn’t much interested in cookin it.

My mother’ specialite du maison was ruined vegetables. She learned about as much from her mother about cookin as I learned about raisin hippopotami for fun and profit. Cooked stuff down to an unrecognizable mass in pots and never added any seasonings other than salt & pepper, and sparingly there.

She tried, but just didn’t have “the touch.” Surprisingly, however, she made delicious fudge, divinity, and currant jelly. Oh, and absolutely great noodles, but somebody else had to do the chicken or she’d screw it up. She’d spend all mornin rollin and cuttin noodles, then Mom (her mother) would put it all together so it’d be edible.

And he MUST stop CONSTANTLY attacking the media…and anybody else who disagrees with him…I’ve never seen anything like it…it was bad before, now he’s simmering in it and turning Republicans off….stupid stupid stupid.

And I think Mal is right in the amazing coincidence that some American was FINALLY going to hold China’s feet to the fire through a trade agreement.

Boy, she turned around and told me to STAY AWAY FROM HER! Last evening on my apres dinner walk there were several pedestrians, half without masks (me one of the them).
