Sunday Faith Blog

Let’s all pray for anybody who fought and died for our country and for those still fighting today.   Please include law enforcement in your prayers because if they aren’t fighting and dying for our country, I don’t know who is.

“Father God, We pray for all those who faithfully serve to keep, protect and preserve justice, hope and love. May you encircle them with protection, and post angels to watch over your sons and daughters as they face danger. We pray that they would have great wisdom and judgement. Help them to work as a team, and care for each other. Lord, come lead them in their prayers and answer them clearly, that they might be channels for your peace, ambassadors of justice, and bringers of hope. May you guard their hearts with you love, their minds with your truth and their bodies with your power. We ask all this in the wonderful name of Jesus. Amen. (a prayer of intercession for those in the armed forces from”

Another Amen. “He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” [Revelation 22:20 NIV]

Another “AMEN”. And this during a time we’re defunding the police and making them open to lawsuits resulting from their split-second actions. Its SO sad.

Wishing someone would come read what I’m going to write below because I’d love a conversation about it, but it’s my Sunday FAITH blog so notsomuch 😦

Just watched FOX ‘s Eric “the Lepruchan” Shaun say that John Bolton will be on …he’s probably there now…..”John Bolton will be in in 20 minutes to talk about his book and what’s going on with President Trump”
THERE’s someone I want telling us about what’s going on with Trump.

Also, there was Molly Line, hosting with the Lepruchan this morning, showing vid of Trump saying in his speeches that “No more statues are coming down” while the banner under her smile says PROTESTERS IN CLEVELAND KNOCK COLUMBUS STATUE DOWN AND THROW IN RIVER.

Cute, FOX, really cute. But Trump’s writers HAD TO KNOW THAT WOULD hAPPEN. WHAT ARE THEY FREAKING THINKING? AS HE WAS SPEAKING, watching him LIVE, I’m thinking “Oh, you don’t want to say no statues are coming down anymore because anybody with half a brain knows it’s happening NOW, if not planned, in response to what you’re saying…dayum!”

I believe they may have meant “no more coming down without consequences”, i.e. being arrested.
Besides that, they probably don’t have that much control over what is on the screen and the tape at the bottom. Whatever, I don’t believe at this point it makes much difference because folks aren’t likely to change their minds or thinking. Trump voters are in the minority, for sure. Even a lot of GOP politicians often vote against their party, unlike the left. Its always gonna be an uphill battle for us.

Mal, it’s someone who writes the banners at FOX and is happening very suddenly….They frequently have Trump on video making a point and a banner mentioning a contradictory point. Of course, it could be that Trump’s lying or got it wrong, I wouldn’t rule that out….

And yes, Republicans will stray, Democrats generally do not. Or they won’t tell us. I sparred with a Facebook commenter on a friend’s post who has voted Republican his whole life and despises Trump…..he said it’s because of pedophilia-like comments Trump has made about Ivanka when she was little (which ARE creepy, by the way)…..the guy hates Biden, too, and is voting for some Third Party candidate…………not sure. Anyway……he’s not alone, believe me 😦

  6. Baysider says:

Amen and amen. I think we so take our privileges for granted we forget to pray to God for them all, in petition and gratitude. He guided our founders in the institutions that give us the best balance of peace and tranquility you can get from fallen creatures. Amen to that, too.

Although, I take exception to the thought that government officials should have ‘qualified immunity.’ This is an extreme position invented in the courts in the 60’s-80’s. There is virtually no recourse for suspects unnecessarily injured by police actions, or the act of an activist city councilman. Before this, there was a system of being bonded/insured and courts (lawyers) did not go CRAZY with reasonings like “well, the officer couldn’t have known he should not sic a dog on a suspect cornered in a basement, sitting on the floor with his hands up because in the similar case the plaintiff (who was badly bitten by the dog when he offered no resistance) cites the suspect was laying on the floor with his hands up. Therefore, the officer would have had no reason to know by law that having his dog attack the suspect sitting on the floor with his hands up was wrong.” (I am not making this up. This is a real case. And there are enough of them to add fuel to the fire to ‘de-fund’ the police even though it is a thinly veiled effort to overthrow civil authority.)

I read the “no more coming down” comment as not backing down to sanction official removal of these emblems. That was a cheap shot by the news. As out of context as the “there are good people on both sides” comment.

  7. MAL says:

Voting for 3rd party candidates is like not voting at all, IMO. It might make the voter feel better, but thats all. A wasted vote.

Baysider, re the police and their legal responsibility I can’t help but wonder how we made it this far without problems. Folks have to understand cops are everyday people that can and do on occasion make mistakes. Its unfortunate, but I believe the reason its become such a problem today is due to the lack of respect and obeying the orders from the cops. I rarely if ever see a person attacked that was obeying what they were told. Between all these restrictions being requested plus the huge cut in funding, its going to discourage all future candidates.

Baysider, I think Trump meant it when he said NO MORE ARE COMING DOWN…..statues…
But yes, the ‘good people’ line was TOTALLY mischaracterized.
And, by the way, there ARE ‘good’ people who sometimes have opinions none of us would go along with….in my opinion, anyway.

I don’t think there’s a reason good enough to defund police….if there was a serial killing cop, I’d still say that doesn’t mean we need to make every city in America unsafe…you know?

    Mal, totally agree….

So I just got a phone call from Boulder, Colorado, where my past vocal coach/friend lives for the last 15 years or so. I knew she was a liberal.
I asked her if a friend’s daughter takes Skype lessons and she hesitated a looong time and finally said “No, and I’m WORRIED about Natalie”…I asked why? She said “She works in the White House.” silence…..I waited for an explanation….then…
I said “Oh! that’s nice…why are you worried?”
“She writes speeches for Trump and she’s a pretty girl. I think he’s EVIL and I really worry about her…” Honestly, my friend sounded demented.

And THIS on the heels of a guy on Facebook who said he’s a Republican but can’t vote for Trump because of some pedophilia type of thing he said about Ivanka years ago. I do remember Trump’s comment, but ….??!

AND then my friend said her sister has a dog walking business and today “She had to go to the BROADMORE!” I said “Wow, that’s quite a nice hotel, isn’t it?” She said “Yes, but it’s TOTALLY REPUBLICAN..>NOBODY WEARS A MASK THERE…and Leigh is susceptible ..”
    I said “Isn’t Leigh wearing a mask?”

I swear she must be ‘off’ if she doesn’t remember I’m a Republican…….

I was so eager to get off the phone…….and did. Sheeesh!!

We just sentenced a serial killing cop here in Sacramento – the Golden State killer. Agree. No reason to throw out the whole lot in contradistinction to, say, Congress.

When someone tells you “Trump is evil” what would they answer to “what do you mean by evil?” Understand, you didn’t want a dialogue on it. I pass a lot. But I hope this would force some kind of objective and verifiable facts out in the open. Like the ‘Republican’ who can’t vote for him because of an incestuous comment about his daughter. You remember it. And I do too. I’d love to hear his answer to “what was that comment” (since I remember it) and “how does that relate to pedophilia?”

  12. geeez2014 says:

    Baysider, “say, Congress!” YES! 🙂
Oh, she’d have had a mouthful of what EVIL in Trump was….Imagine that line about the WH? She’s worried that a mutual friend’s daughter now helps with Trump speeches at the WH….I thought she meant just because Sandy’s politics were different so I kind of was shocked when she intimated that he’d hit on her. Hitting on women hasn’t been an accusation about him for a long time.

“If Ivanka wasn’t my daughter, honestly, I’d be dating her.” THAT is weird, but…
I suppose she was not TOO young at that point…And, obviously, if it doesn’t bug Ivanka, why let it bug US?
I think he called her a “piece of a**” on the Stern Show, too………..
