I got this email (paragraph below) from a friend yesterday. I thought it was wonderful and shows the American heart.
I’m glad I didn’t think of it since I REALLY enjoyed a whole plate of Thanksgiving again last night (See where MY heart is? In my stomach!!).
On the evening of Thanksgiving, a number of people in our neighborhood put notifications on the next-door site that they had too much leftover food. They were offering turkey and all the trimmings to any neighbors who wanted to go collect a gift. I thought that was extremely nice in these difficult times when a number of people have lost their jobs.
I don’t know if you all have the Next-Door site …but it’s a website where neighbors can go to find a plumber, report a peeping tom or burglary or complain about pot holes or find a nanny, etc……and give food to strangers!
2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
If you have any stories of kindness like this, please share them!
Have a great Sunday!
