William Booth“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.”

Copyright & Fair Use Statement I hereby assert that the purpose of this blog is educational/informative in matters of politics and faith. There is no commercial purpose to this blog. There is no revenue generated from any material posted here. I am not in competition with any news source, including any other on-line journal, and I have no interest in interfering with any person’s ability to earn an income as an author, journalist, photographer, or artist. This website contains some quotations and excerpts from copyrighted material. These uses fall well within the copyright doctrine of “Fair Use.” Section 107 of the United States Code, Title 17, specifies the conditions under which, “the fair use of a copyrighted work . . . for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching . . ., scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright.” It provides four considerations for determining fair use: (1) The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes, (2) The nature of the copyrighted work, (3) The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole, and (4) The effect of the use upon the potential market for, or value of, the copyrighted work. The use on this website of other material involves “criticism, comment, news reporting, scholarship or research” (a) The “purpose and character” of the website is not “commercial.” (b) The overwhelming majority of the material is the author’s own research and work. It is in no way a mere collection of others’ copyrighted works, nor is any material competitive with those sources. (2) The “nature of the copyrighted work” quoted is often “news” or “faith,” categories given lesser protection in fair use cases than works of fiction. (3) Most uses involve excerpts rather than entire works. Because the adverse financial impact on copyright owners is central to the purpose of copyright law, and the analysis of alleged violations, it’s relevant to note that, under factor (4), (a) no one in search of the quoted material would substitute this blog or book for the original source, (b) it is highly unlikely this website (or any material created from it) will ever have more than a de minimis impact on any of the copyright works’ potential market, and (c) to the extent it might do so, it would be far more likely be a positive, rather than a negative, impact (by drawing attention to the work, crediting it, and providing a source where it may be found). Finally, to the extent any copyright owner may wish, consideration will be given to all reasonable requests that copyright material be removed from this website. I will always endeavor to provide proper attribution to the source of another person’s work if I know it. If I do not know the source of incorporated work, I will state “source unknown.” I will happily credit any previously unknown source if their identity is made known to me in “blog comments.” -GeeeZ
Most people tend to be about as happy as they decide to be. It’s a state of mind, not a tangible goal to be achieved.
For me, watching a summer thunderstorm is thrilling . . . the wind causing posses of leaves to chase plastic bags up under the shrubs, the bay trees exposing their white bellies as the gusts whip their branches, the ominous rumble of the clouds as they exchange light sword thrusts and threats, the boomping splooshes of grape-sized raindrops exploding on roofs and awnings as Mother Nature gives the place a good rinse.
And there’s something very humbling, very majestic, very eternal in the pre-dawn sky as Luna dances with Venus while Mars invites Jupiter to follow him to the edge of the western world.
Few things are more reassuring, more settling, more satisfying than an old furry friend coming in to thrust his wet nose under your arm in a “Good Morning . . . where’s breakfast?” non-verb with those big, eager, trusting eyes.
Aside from politics (over which I have NO control), I pretty much stay happy because I WANT to be so. Anger is a bummer; frustration is a downer; and depression is a killer, so I want nothin to do with ‘em.
And when that 83-yr-old woman wanders into the kitchen draggin the heels of her slippers, wrapped up in an old mackinaw that shoulda been tossed years ago, I share positivity with her by sayin stuff like, “Y’know . . . you’re a damned good-lookin old broad.”
Hey, if the lady of the house ain’t happy, it’s damned hard for the house to be cheerful. Achieving the state of happy is kinda like runnin a footrace – if you tell yourself you’re gonna lose, you prob’ly will. Looking forward to winning purty much enhances your chances.
The Constitution guarantees us the right to pursue happiness . . . but it doesn’t provide it. You gotta do that yourself. Maybe I’m just an incurable optimist where my own little milieu is concerned, but I’d rather be happy with what I’ve got than mope around wishin for stuff I don’t have and prob’ly never will, like honest and unselfish government.

Many good things are going on around us that seem to be drowned out by all American politics’ sewage. As for reporting on politics, we should follow Kid’s lead, who mostly makes up all his stuff, and it’s funny. He justifies this, by the way, by claiming, “Well, the media makes it up, why can’t I?” Personally, I think the term “United States” is a lie. As a people, we’ve NEVER been united about anything for very long, but I also note that the reason for this is “politics.” Politics = bad. But anyway, when those 9,000 Guatemalans finally get here, there will be plenty to write about. A commenter at Bunkerville today suggested that it’s only a matter of time before America’s enemies will begin “punking” Biden. I think the show has already started. I’d like to send a shout out to all those conservatives who couldn’t vote for Trump: Good job, morons.

@Bocopro: Loved your comment. We have to recognize and make our own happiness. For my second wife of only 20 years each new day is an opportunity to greet the sunshine (even though I love a morning rainstorm -literally) with optimism. I thank the lord for bringing us together even while having not so much in common. While she came here from Colombia 40 years ago as a well educated future comptroller she keeps me smiling on a daily basis with her Ricky Ricardoisms.
In another pre-Colombian lifetime I performed stand up comedy in NY/NJ with a band of fellow wannabes but gave it up for a lack of good material around two years before meeting her. Each and every day lo these many years she continues to provided me with a wealth of stand up material I could use if I wasn’t so damn lazy; not exactly lazy since at 70 I still referee high school basketball and soccer and umpire baseball. But still I should be taking what God gave me and help people to laugh as do I courtesy of my Colombiana. Forest Gump said it best: Life is like a box of chocolates,,,,,,

Yeah, my wife is a high-caste Pinay who speaks somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 languages.
When I first met her about 60 years ago, she could kinda sorta get along in Spanish, but notnymore. Gives me side-face small-eye when I use it with her. ‘Course it’s o.k. when she lapses into one of the tongues I don’t get . . . . . howzat work, ennyhow?
Always been fiery, and a li’l dangerous with pointy or sharpened instruments. Not a whole lotta dull moments livin with her . . . and she’s REAL easy to spin up.
I’m quite certain that had I married a high-school sweetheart back in the late 50s as all my friends did, I’d be at least thrice-divorced by now, as they all are.
This’n’s kept me clean, well-fed, and happy since Kennedy was in office. Only a moron discards winners.

I love my blog and want to talk about things that really matter in our country; But it’s SO DEPRESSING NOW that I can’t ignore that stuff (I have tiny great nieces and nephews I worry about)….
Like thousands of immigrants coming up to get into America, most of them unmasked, probably most of them infected. Will Biden quarantine thousands of them? Where?
Our hospitals are full NOW….where will we put the deadly carriers?
Will we lose health care professionals like we’ve lost police for not having THEIR backs?
David Asman said this morning “You cannot take CAPITAL out of CAPITALISM and not become SOCIALIST.” Does Sanders care?
EVERYBODY: I wish I could say the REALLY negative things about America lately that have been discussed here and FIND MY HAPPINESS so easily! Congratulations! 🙂
Ya, I have a busy life, I have a great bunch of friends (Sadly, 99% are conservatives and are scared to death right now, and rightfully so, so they don’t help me find joy!), I have wonderful family some of whom I have trouble with now because they voted for Biden suddenly (one went to Berkeley so she’s always been liberal but the others had always been good conservatives) and I’d LOVE to ask them how they feel NOW, seeing our economy go to hell, our lives threatened by the illegals coming in, ;… but I can’t even bring it up because I’m known as the RIGHTWING WACKO, apparently.
BY the way, what is with QANON (sp?)….I saw a discussion on CNN with a guy who’s writing a BOOK on those people….as if we are all that type, whatever it is………the host asked “are these people who just can’t admit they’re WRONG? I always admit when I’m WRONG” (This, from a CNN news reader! :-)) THEY make viewers think all Conservatives are NUTS and I don’t know ONE REPUBLICAN who even really knows what QUANON IS!!
I enjoyed watching NEWS and can’t very much anymore because it’s all about THREATS….to our economy, to our health, to jobs, to WELL BEING. It’s really too tough to listen to and I’m tiring of discussion after discussions pointing out our problems and doing nothing to FIX THEM. How much can Katie Pavlich and Harris Faulkner and Lawrence Jones and Brett Baier DO? Not much!!
A friend emailed me this morning about our FAITH……….this all COULD be leading us back into reliance on Christ, God….the source of ALL good things in our world………..It was a REAL GOD THING that he wrote me because I’d just awakened feeling quite down (we almost never email, we used to communicate AT church, of course, till that got stopped, and thru Facebook, which I’m off of now)…and he wrote about optimism and dependence on faith out of the clear blue sky…it was just what I needed and it worked for a while!!
Ya, it’s been difficult hearing how down you guys have been and it’s affected me…so I’m HAPPY today you’re all optimistic and I’ll read all your comments again now to cheer me up again 🙂

PETER and BOCOPRO; ; My German husband felt that way about me………..it’s nice to read your love for your wives…but hard for me to read at the same time!!
Keep it up….it’s cheerful and HAPPY!!
HEY! I was married to someone from Germany, Peter has a Colombian wife, Bocopro has a Philipi nna wife, Kid’s wife is Chinese, and Mustang’s is British.
Think there’s something BEHIND all this? Out of our small band of wonderful people, so many are, or were, married to foreigners? (Though I think Kid’s wife was born here, yes, Kid?)

BY THE WAY, you all hearing how AOC says we must DERADICALIZE the “WHITE SUPREmACISTS”? (that’d be 75 million Americans, right?< according to her?
Yup, no problem with DERADICALIZING BLM and ANTIFA, they're FINE, right? 🙂
and I'm hearing BIDEN WANTS TO DERAIL ANYTHING "AMERICA FIRST"..
raise your hand if you know one country which doesn't regard itself FIRST in its eyes….. BUT US.

Bocopro and Mustang are spot on. Attitude is everything.
I married someone from SEATTLE (I was from L.A.) after only dating her twice, so they don’t have to be from another country. She is also my best friend, a must for a successful and happy marriage. We didn’t have to move in and live together first to see if we were “compatible”.
We just went for it 67 years ago.

I hope one day we can say with David when he was on the run:
They who seek my life will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth.
They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals.
… all who swear by God’s name will praise him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

Mal, I always thought it was the hot, dry dusty climes of the middle east that inflamed people to anger and stupidity (a little like that cranky feel during the Santa Ana winds). Seattle’s climate should just drive people to drink (like the Russians). 🤪

actually, THESE COMMENTS have cheered me up.
You all know you can’t keep me down too long!
I still have to exorcise the images in my head of what I saw this morning of THOUSANDS of mostly unmasked (as if they don’t already have covid, anyway?) illegal usurpers marching toward our country waiting for Biden to say “Come on IN!”…and worrying about our hospitals being even MORE besieged…and there being no jobs for them so we will be supporting them thanks to Bernie….but…………………….I have to have faith!!

Too often lately, I’ve been listening to political podcasts and not enough “Christian” podcasts.
Charlie Kirk is kind of a cross between.
Unfortunately, I pick up my phone to read my Bible and get sucked into something else.
But the Good News is that God is on the throne, and it is not His intent to squash us like bugs, but to raise up those who submit to His plan to redeem us.
The rest get squashed like bugs.

He said a Russian cabbie told him he didn’t like what Trump did with Russia too much but “i would love to have him as our president” Even foreigners understand righteous toughness.
BAYSIDER and ED…there’s nothing like starting a day with Scripture…I never saw the benefits but I FEEL them…Don’t always do it….but I find just reading for five minutes any time of day improves the mood, no matter what I read.
Wait till you see my Sunday Faith Post this week…probably the best ever and written totally by a church friend. Amazing.

It’s amazing how much you pick up again in daily bible reading. One of my favorites and encouragements, which found its way into a thank letter to President Trump, is: “the mouths of liars will be silenced.” from Ps 63
Hallelujah! It can’t happen soon enough. One good thing God will bring out through his judgment is our wholehearted approval of it because we are given 70 years here to get so sick and tired of it.
